Proposal
Dumbest Proposal Ever?

If President Barack Obama's response to the economic crisis is imperfect, as he acknowledges, and if the Congressional Democrats leave much to be desired as well, then Americans can at least be thankful that the nation's fate has not been consigned to the frozen minds on the other side of the aisle. Things are bad, and seem very likely to get worse - but the Republicans seem determined to plunge us into a real depression, gambling that catastrophe would return them to power.
The leaders of the Republican party simply ignore flashing red warnings from the unemployment offices, whose reports now indicate that joblessness in this recession will soon surpass the worst of the 1981-82 slump. They complain about "earmarks," a miniscule portion of the budget, and they suggest policies that would either have no effect at all or make matters much worse, even according to many of their own most venerated economists.
From those Republican politicians often deemed most thoughtful, such as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, comes a droning chorus for tax cuts on capital gains. This is the conservative panacea in good times and bad, but it is of little relevance to the problems of the moment. Investors are not fleeing the markets because they worry about enormous returns that will be subject to punitive taxation; they are abandoning stocks and real estate because those assets are deflating like punctured balloons. Until there is a real prospect of capital gains, cutting taxes on them will scarcely affect investment and jobs.
Descending the intellectual scale brings us to the House minority leader, John Boehner. He responded to the frightening February data on job losses "more than 650,000 laid off in a single month" to demand a "freeze in government spending" and a presidential veto of the $400 billion continuing budget resolution.
While Mr. Boehner said he understood that the mass firings meant worsening economic conditions, he seems more worried about "wasteful pork-barrel projects," a problem that concerned him not at all when his party ran Congress. To him, an unemployment rate surging past 8 percent is a signal that the government should impose a spending freeze "until the end of this fiscal year." A spending freeze, of course, is precisely the opposite of the policies pursued by the Republicans during the last recession, when their own political butts were on the line.
So is Mr. Boehner suddenly crazy? Is he just economically illiterate? Or is he convinced, like the would-be revolutionaries of the Depression era, that the worse our general situation becomes, the better for his party? All three could be true at once, but his motivation matters less than his ideas, which would be ruinous to everyone if enacted.
What makes someone like Mr. Boehner important and potentially dangerous is not that anyone takes his stupid advice seriously, but that he and his caucus can block or stall policies that might rescue us from the worst consequences of the bust.
The fundamental issue not only in America but in the world economy is a crisis of demand. As the Nobel economist Joseph Stiglitz has explained - most recently at a panel in New York City sponsored by The Nation magazine and the Nation Institute - average wages have fallen for more than three decades. Among the results of that invidious pattern was rising indebtedness, as banks extended usurious credit to working families struggling to maintain their living standards. Years of rising inequality has upset the equilibrium that resulted in rapid and sustained economic growth for most of the postwar period in this country, and created a prosperous, well-educated and optimistic middle-class society.
Back when America worked well, the gaps between the top and bottom of the income scale were far smaller, the public sector was more robust, the labor movement protected living standards and the rewards of work were more fairly distributed. There is only one way to stop the downward slide and begin to restore that proven pattern of economic dynamism with a wage-led recovery.
Public spending, even unto additional trillions, is the only instrument available to prevent a global depression, assuming that we have not already forfeited that chance. The stimulus bill and the Obama budget are only first steps. We will need another strong shot of stimulus before the summer-not a spending freeze-and we can only pray that the president and the Congressional Democrats will have the guts to push the Republicans out of the way.
Yep, he did....but he was talking about a proposal...
not a person. That being said...I don't think Obama really meant to compare Sarah Palin to a pig. I may be giving him too much credit, however, I give him the benefit of the doubt. The fact remains, with all the talk about her lipstick pit bull comment in the last week or so, he just should have known better. The crowd he was talking to sure thought that is what he meant...look at their reaction. They thought their candidate was finally going on the attack.
Oh for the good old days when candidates (both sides) just talked about the issues and left the personal potshots out of it. lol.
She lost my vote with that proposal :-(
nm
Which is how Obama wants it....free handouts!!
nm
You are aware that Obama has always been pro-free-trade?
Granted, not nearly as much so as McCain who wants to expand free trade as much as possible.
"Senator Obama: "I believe in the Free Market. I believe in Capitalism. I believe in Free Trade. I am not worried about us being able to compete anywhere on earth with American workers"-Obama." Too bad, at least Hillary does."
One of the many links to this quote: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/2/17/171927/342
Blessings from Obama. Free pass?
Here's the article. Judge for yourself. Abd Al-Rahim will remain in custody. Charges dismissed WITHOUT PREJUDICE will be brought against him AGAIN once the reviews of Gitmo operations are completed and policies regarding their detainment and trials are determined. As usual, we have scandal mongering where there is no scandal to monger.
Where is the line for free college, free healthcare...
mortgage paid for, free gas and ability to sit on my rear and let everyone else take care of me? Wow, now I see the light...this prez elect will be great!!
Free speech is alive and well, as is free will...
people can take anything out of context and do with it what they want; it still doesn't make it a McCain/Palin issue.
Nice rant....however...
look up perjury. Perjury is a lying UNDER OATH. A felony. Just plain old lying....like people do every day...just plain old lying. Just in case you did not know...when a President is sworn in he puts the hand on the Bible and swears to uphold the laws of the United States of America. Whoops!! So he not only perjured himself..he broke his oath. But no big deal...right? OF course not. You love generalities don't you? Liars like Bush and his ilk...I could say the same thing about Billary...liars and their ilk. They have both been caught in so many...as I am sure every other politician on the face of the earth.
Some of these posters remind me of the cliques in junior high who made fun of the fat kids or the kids in glasses, yada yada...same bullies, all grown up.
Sigh.
Geez.... RANT ON!
W
Not to hijack your rant, but there
the Bush administration used as a pretext to declaring war. We went to war and into debt and lives were lost over a lie made up to fulfill a plan that was devised prior to 9/11.
And btw, gay marriage will not harm your marriage in any way, unless your DW/DH is having an affair on the side and decides to make an honest man/woman out of the other person.
Uh....I don't think I posted a RANT like you just did...
you might want to take a page from your own book and seek therapy. And if you really read closely...I was not blaming Obama for anything...LOL. I was saying those who were posting about Sanford were trying to take the conversation away from Obama. Geeeezzzzz, just figures. I knowwww you are in love with the Prez. I know you think he can do no wrong. With all he has done that you fail to recognize that is pretty much obvious. Your tolerant and open mind is showing again....NOT.
Thank you for another vote democrat or die rant...
PUMA is not just comprised of women. Obviously you are not getting all the news. THere are some po'ed men out there too. Talk about a hand-picked celebrity...you make this too easy! Nobody knew who Obama was until his speech at the last DNC convention. That was when Howard Dean trotted him out, the heir apparent, the only way they could beat Hillary Clinton...a rock star African American candidate. Orchestrated to do just that...dispossess Hillary Clinton and remove the Clintons once and for all. In case you hadn't noticed it, Howard Dean despises the Clintons. And the media jumped right on the bandwagon, doing everything in their power to thwart Hillary Clinton and pursue their love fest with Obama...because...and you on the inside can't see the forest for the trees...you are buying it hook, line, and sinker. And not only that, you are HELPING them. It is an amazing thing to watch.
Republicans smug? OMG. Pot kettle BIG time.
Uh....Obama said..."oh and by the way he's black." He did play the race card...but then so did BILL CLINTON. Geez.
No, he has not gambled away his experience card...because YOU keep bringing it up, which only brings your #1's lack of experience to the top and keeps everyone thinking about it.
THANK YOU! lol
nobody cares about your pro mccain rant
loser
Changing the subject to the tax rant
nm
Rant away if it makes you feel better.
You've gotton so many things wrong, it's laugable.
First of all, saying "people like you" once again shows your lack of understanding of the situation. I do not protest outside of abortion clinics. Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't.
Much like you don't want religion in your politics, I don't want somebody's stinking LACK of morals in MY politics. Gay marriage. Late-term abortion. Did you ever stop to think that THAT might be offense to others? No. Because people like you are so busy beating your chests like gorillas and proclaiming how liberal and open-minded you lot are. When all the while you're trying to stomp on anyone and everyone who has the audicity to display a little faith in God.
As far as "running all over the world" - you're just running your mouth instead of your brain. I go to Russia twice a year. Russia is not "all over the world" but I suppose I can blame the public school system who apparently didn't let you in on that little secret.
And "that perfect little baby" once again shows your inabilty to comprehend the situation. You have no idea about the conditions I've seen in Russian orphanages. They are little more than warehouses for children, so that particular high horse of yours is lame as well. Why don't YOU go advocate for the foster kids in America? Better yet, don't. It wouldn't be fair to the kids.
If you had any capacity for learning, you would have rememberd that I have a WHOLE HOUSEFUL of adopted children. All are special needs, all are from the foster care system right here in the good 'ol USA. So your comment "children here are just too much of a pain in the a$$ for you" is offensive and, once again, totally off base.
I have never rambled about how wonderful I am. Nor have I said how $hitty anyone else is, though in your case I will make an exception. If you think I'm boasting it's because you have an inferiority complex.
I'm sorry if you want me to cry and pat you on your little head and feel sorry for you and how hard the abortion was on YOU. I'm sure there are plenty of P.C. posters who will crowd all around you and applaud your courageous decision to kill an infant instead of doing the right, albeit more difficult, thing and leaving your abusive husband and caring for yourself and your child. Too bad you didn't have the support system of a good Christian church to help you make a better decision. I don't have any patience for people who martyr themselves and then want everyone to throw them a big pity party.
Sorry to burst your rant bubble, but...
There are Christmas parades, Easter parades, and Christian cruises, so why shouldn't there be gay pride parades and gay cruises?
I won't respond to the rest of your rant because, frankly, it made me dizzy just reading parts of it!
Feel better after your self-righteous rant?
The Palestinians are terrorits, who thrive on chaos and bloodshed.
If it makes you feel all giddy to root for the savages, go ahead. You've clearly closed your mind off to the truth. Just like they wanted you to.
Nice to know even monsters can find support from folks like you.
It must really burn you, though, that Israel is kicking the holy h3ll out of your little bunch of Arab buddies.
So what do you think about the warnings that Palestinans are going to resort to suicide bombers (since they clearly can't hit squat with their rockets)?
Who do you think they're going to strap those little puppies to, anyway? It won't be the "soldiers." No sir. They're targeting their recruitment at women and boys. Yeah, that's real gallant.
Back to the Stone Age! Shouldn't take long now.
Man's IRS rant hits a nerve. sm
An article on a letter to the Editor of a newspaper making its rounds on the Internet.
http://www.suntimes.com/business/1467702,w-dear-irs-texas-barnett-taxes030909.article
Here is Mr. Barnett's letter:
Taxed to excess
Dear IRS,
I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost.
I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog licence tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting licence tax, fishing licence tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle licence registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I cant recall but I have run out of space and money.
When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.
P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.
Ed Barnett

This is just unfathomable to me (caution - rant enclosed)
I said once I'd never post on this board again, but this isn't a political issue, it reaches across the board. This just blows me away. 60 days' punishment for stealing this child's innocence and scarring her forever - it's just so far beyond appalling that I can't even think of a word that fits. I have to wonder if this guy would have been off the streets longer if he'd stolen a purse. Heaven forbid if he'd tortured a dog the way he tortured this child - they'd have probably thrown away the key! If he'd only gotten 60 days for it, you can bet PETA would have been all over it, but who is there for this little girl?Anyway, I have fired off a letter to Vermont's governor, for all the good it will probably do, and I am also sending prayers for this poor child.
Outsourcing/China (warning - rant)
Hubby was telling me last night that China's economy is now tanking because ours is. Factory workers over there were showing up for work only to find their business had closed because of lack of orders from the U.S. India may be next. You never know. I don't see it happening with MT but like I said, you just don't know. Did you see their work days? 6 days a week and something like 12 or 14 hours a day?
I hear lip service from Nobama/Maobama about cutting taxes to bring our businesses back but don't see him acting on it. He's a one-termer. Carter got us in a heap of trouble which Reagan (I know union employees aren't fond of him) had to get us out of. All Nobama is doing is having construction/building jobs sprout up here and there. And where does the money come from to pay for his multi-trillion dollar spending? You got it - us. Those jobs will eventually fizzle out, our country will be poorer and those people will once again be unemployed..
Dems coined the phrase Voodoo Economics for Reagan's Trickle Down Economics. Whether or not you liked the man, he did a world of good for this country. He did cut capital gains taxes and cut taxes for the rich. Trickle down 101: You cut taxes for the rich, they can afford to hire more employees, more often than not, at better wages. Unemployment is down. People go out and spend more money because they are employed and can afford to. During Reagan's terms in office, he cut taxes immensely yet the government took in more money. People would much rather spend their money the way they want than have the government take it and spend it.
Folks, we work for our government. Our government should be working for us. We should not live in fear of the IRS. I attended a TEA party on April 15 and will attend more such events. We should have a government for the people, of the people and by the people. The protest was very peaceful and guess what? Not a bit of litter was left to be found when it ended, like the disgrace that was left after the inauguration in Washington, DC.
We are getting so far away from a constitutional government, it's not funny. Actually, my opinion is that we are currently a socialist government. You know the next step after socialism? Communism.
I read the most recent list of who they consider a terrorist. Hoarding food? Um, yep. Better buy it now in case a depression hits. Glad I have a breadmaker. Wouldn't want to have to spend $50 on a loaf of bread. Buying lots of ammo? Sure, but then again, we do competition shooting. Guns? Yeah, we have our share, but variety is the spice of life (Hubby bought me a Macarov but I didn't care for the way it operated (too hard to load the mag), especially after the slide came back and sliced my thumb open 5 times, bad lacerations - my fault, was handling it wrong, so I got a Glock). My husband is an Iraqi war vet. That makes us both domestic terrorists. Yet neither one of us even has the heart to even discipline our dogs. We're both very gentle people. Of course if someone broke into our home, we would defened ourselves.
I'm sorry for the rant but I just don't see Nobama caring much about outsourcing. I really really really hope I am wrong and what he is doing for our country is the right thing but I truly resent being labeled a domestic terrorist because I see us headed for a depression and am stocking up on food, and my husband happened to be in the military during the Gulf war.
Thanks for listening.
Wow another angry rant by a SORE LOSER!
You LOST. The Good Guys Won. Get OVER IT! You'll feel better when you begin to confront your angry, hurt feelings and realize how much America repudiated your TREASON and your HATE.
You are losing it gt, starting to scream and rant. Best rest now. nm
I have no clue why you added this Bush rant to my post...
George Bush did not single-handedly send troops to war. There is that little ol thing called Congress who have to vote to allow him to go to war, he can't just do it on his own. And guess what...they DID. Democrats and Republicans alike. I just don't understand why some Americans don't understand THAT. Blame it on George Bush, like he was King or something. He did not do it alone. And you are right, I will NEVER accept that ANY soldier died for no reason. How arrogant of anyone to even suggest such a thing. Our men and women in uniform go where they are sent and they do their duty. Shame on ANY American who would publically say those brave young men and women died in vain, I don't care what their politics are. To me, that reeks.
I also do not know why it is so easy for some Americans to totally ignore the many reasons we went into Iraq. Have you ever actually read the Iraq resolution passed by Congress? I seriously doubt it. Hussein was in violation of so many UN resolutions it would take a ream of paper to list them. And he did finance and harbor terrorists. One of the perps of the Achille Lauro hijacking lived out his miserable life there being given free medical care and a free ride by the Hussein government. Zarqawi had his little terrorist training camp up in Northern Iraq for a year before we went in. One of Hussein's higher ups met with Mohammed Atta a couple of months before 9-11. What do you think they were talking about? The weather?
I don't believe I even mentioned the President in my post. I believe we went into Iraq for a good reason, we had been hit and we had to hit back harder. We did so in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have not had another major attack since that happened. Wonder why that is...????
My point is, the President is not singly responsible for the war in Iraq. The Congress is just as responsible. So when you start to lay blame and malign the names of good men and women who died for something they believed in, even if you don't....you should spread the blame evenly. Get off the Hate Bush train and back into reality.
I didn't rant, honey, just gave my opinion........sm
I did try to explain it to you, very nicely. You and others just won't listen.
I don't mind, really I don't. Makes it so much easier for McCain to win.
It ain't over till the fat lady sings......
Let's chat again on Nov 5, shall we?
No sale.....sounds like a rush limpball rant
x
Stupid question....I got Rick Santelli on a rant with this link.....
did I do something wrong? LOL.
She did rant when Bush was prez. Now everything is blue skies with a big pot'o'change
at the end of the rainbow!
Bash, rant, bash, rant, bash....
My word can you ever rant. But you don't seem so great at sticking to facts. I read the posts you paraphrased and do not agree with your synopsis. She did not say you were a cliche, among other things....she said you were using a cliche. Superior intellect? Huh? Where'd you get that? She stated she liked western history. Just because someone likes to read doesn't mean they are boasting that they are superior. How silly!!!
Those set free
* I don't know what *9/11 perps* you are talking about, but I don't think anyone has gone free.*
'Dr. Germ,' Others Released in Iraq
Monday, December 19, 2005
BAGHDAD, Iraq About 24 top former officials in Saddam Hussein's regime, including a biological weapons expert known as Dr. Germ, have been released from jail, while a militant group released a video Monday of the purported killing of an American hostage.
The first results of Thursday's parliamentary election were released, with officials saying the Shiite religious bloc, the United Iraqi Alliance, got about 58 percent of the votes from 89 percent of ballot boxes counted in Baghdad province.
Across Iraq, meanwhile, demonstrations broke out to protest a government decision to raise the price of gasoline, heating and cooking fuel, and the oil minister threatened to resign over the development.
An Iraqi lawyer said the 24 or 25 officials from Saddam's government were released from jail without charges, and some have already left the country.
The release was an American-Iraqi decision and in line with an Iraqi government ruling made in December 2004, but hasn't been enforced until after the elections in an attempt to ease the political pressure in Iraq, said the lawyer, Badee Izzat Aref.
Among them were Rihab Taha, a British-educated biological weapons expert, who was known as Dr. Germ for her role in making bio-weapons in the 1980s, and Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash, known as Mrs. Anthrax, a former top Baath Party official and biotech researcher, Aref said.
Because of security reasons, some of them want to leave the country, he said. He declined to elaborate, but noted some have already left Iraq today.
Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, would say only that eight individuals formerly designated as high-value detainees were released Saturday after a board process found they were no longer a security threat and no charges would be filed against them.
Neither the U.S. military or Iraqi officials would disclose any of the names, but a legal official in Baghdad said Taha and Ammash were among those released.
The official, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue, said those released also included Hossam Mohammed Amin, head of the weapons inspections directorate, and Aseel Tabra, an Iraqi Olympic Committee official under Odai Saddam Hussein, the former leader's son.
The video from the extremist group The Islamic Army of Iraq was posted on a Web site and showed a man purportedly being shot in the back of the head. Last week, the group had claimed it had killed civilian contractor Ronald Allen Schulz, a native of North Dakota.
The video did not show the victim's face, however, and it was impossible to identify him. The victim was kneeling with his back to the camera, with his hands tied behind his back and blindfolded with an Arab headdress when he was purportedly shot. The video also showed Schulz's identity card.
A separate video, shown on a split screen, showed images of Schulz alive. The group had aired that video when he was first taken hostage earlier this month.
Schulz has been identified by the extremist group as a security consultant for the Iraqi Housing Ministry, although family and neighbors from his current home in Alaska, say he is an industrial electrician who has worked on contracts around the world.
Schulz served in the Marine Corps from 1984 to 1991. He moved to Alaska six years ago, and friends and family say he is divorced.
The German government, meanwhile, said kidnappers had freed a German aid worker and archaeologist taken hostage with her driver in northern Iraq more than three weeks ago. Susanne Osthoff, 43, was reported in good condition at the German Embassy in Baghdad. It was unclear whether Osthoff's Iraqi driver had also been freed.
The military said a U.S. Marine was killed by small arms fire Sunday in the town of Ramadi, in central Iraq. The death brought to 2,156 the number of U.S. service members killed since the start of the war in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
In other violence Monday, a suicide car bomb exploded outside a children's hospital in western Baghdad, killing at least two people and wounding 11, including seven police, officials said. Police believe the bomb had targeted a convoy carrying a police colonel, who was among the injured.
In western Baghdad, gunmen attacked the convoy of Deputy Baghdad Gov. Ziad Tariq, killing three civilians and wounding three of his bodyguards, police said. Tariq was not injured.
Iraqi soldiers on Monday began Operation Moonlight, which the U.S. military described as the first large-scale operation planned and executed by soldiers of the Iraqi 1st Brigade. The mission's aim is to disrupt insurgent activity along the Euphrates River near the border with Syria.
There are five Iraqi Army companies and one U.S. Marine company taking part in the operation, said Marine Capt. Jeffrey S. Pool.
With 89 percent of the ballot boxes counted in Baghdad province Iraq's largest district preliminary results showed the United Iraqi Alliance received 1,403,901 votes, or about 58 percent, while the Sunni Arab Iraqi Accordance party got 451,782 votes, and former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's Iraqi National List with 327,174 votes, the electoral commission said.
The commission did not say how many people voted in Baghdad province or provide further details. Baghdad is Iraq's biggest electoral district with 2,161 candidates running for 59 of the 275 seats in Iraq's parliament.
Results from southern Basra province, also mixed but predominantly Shiite, saw the clergy-backed United Iraqi Alliance significantly ahead, winning 612,206 votes with 98 percent of ballot boxes counted. The list headed by Allawi, a secular Shiite, was in second with 87,134 votes, while the Sunni accordance party trailed with 36,997 votes.
Kurdish parties were overwhelmingly ahead in their three northern provinces.
In a speech Sunday, President Bush praised the vote and warned against a pullout of U.S. forces. He said the election would not end violence but means that America has an ally of growing strength in the fight against terror. He also warned that a U.S. troop pullout would signal to the world that America cannot be trusted to keep its word.
The fuel prices were raised Sunday some as much as nine times to curb a growing black market, Oil Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said.
A gallon of imported and super gasoline in Iraq was raised to about 68 cents, but Iraqis were upset by the fivefold increase. The price of locally produced gas was raised to about 48 cents per gallon, a sevenfold increase.
In Amarah, 180 miles southeast of Baghdad, police fired into the air to disperse the hundreds of protesters who had gathered in front of the provincial government headquarters. The demonstrators, however, didn't leave, and scuffles broke out with police.
Drivers blocked roads and set tires on fire near fuel stations in the southern city of Basra, and hundreds demonstrated outside the governor's headquarters to protest the increases.
Oil Minister Ibrahim Bahr al-Uloum said when the Cabinet raised prices, it also decided that the extra money would be used to support more than 2 million low-income families. Some aid money was supposed to reach the families before the increases, but that didn't happen, he said.
Dr. Ibrahim will submit his resignation to the Iraqi government if the situation continues as is, he said, referring to himself. We should take in consideration the living conditions and the economic situation of the citizens.
Iraq's oil minister has previously said that cheap domestic fuel prices had encouraged smuggling to other countries. Iraq's government has continued Saddam's practice of heavily subsidizing fuel prices.

None of us are free....
SLide show with music, worth watching. The song is also one of my favorites.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article8199.htm
Free will...sm
We used our free will to invade Iraq. We have free will to do a lot of things that does not make them right. There is more than one way to help ourselves. The Iraqi war is not the answer to all woes.
You are free to tell them what you want...sm
If that will make your day then get right up from your warm home and computer and go tell them what I said (pun intended).
When I said the protests will not stop, I was stating the obvious. They will have to serve and ignore or serve and pay attention and let it bring their morale down.
I know democrats cosigned on the war (whether they felt Bush would preemptively go in or not). They are not catching a break about it either, Obama and Hillary were called on the carpet on it this weekend as they should be.
You obviously know someone who will get free
xx
Again, I believe that it is not free--yet.
What will we do when all of these poor people can't afford it--lower the prices and give it away to those unwilling to work at all. I am only implying that it is a slippery slope.
You can get one free
for a $500,000 contribution to the RNC.
Oh He**. Let's just free everybody from
GOVERNMENT SUCKS!!!!!! IT IS OUT OF CONTROL. I know, so am I right now. Taking a break from the news. Oh GOD, when are you coming? This world is OUT OF CONTROL.
Would you rather pay for nothing than get it for free?
Do you really think the government will give us worse insurance than the for-profit insurers are doing now? Really???
I'm sick of paying something for nothing - after all the deductibles, out of pocket charges, copays and disallowed claims - that's pretty much what we get. I'd rather take the money I pay in premiums to a greedy corporation who will refuse to pay a cent when the time comes I need them - and pay it in taxes for a free healtchare plan. At least everybody would be in the same boat, with no nasty surprises.
You are still here, right? Still free?
nm
I have never ever seen anything like that at Free Republic. sm
Never. They do not advocate anything like that. I think you are thinking of somewhere else. Maybe the Democratic Underground, where they talk about things like that all the time. I would like an example of what you are saying.
Yes I did, and I never said I wanted free...
healthcare for myself. I want free or more affordable cost healthcare for American children. My children are already covered. My husband has worked for the same company for over 12 years, and he has decent insurance. You are impossible to argue with because you refuse to admit that we can afford $333 MILLION PER DAY FOR A WAR IN IRAQ, AND WE CAN AFFORD $19 MILLION PER DAY FOR CHILDREN'S HEALTH CARE. How are your taxes going to be raised to 70% of your income for the health care? Have they been raised that high for the war? NO, so your argument is not valid.
For those of free thought.....
I discovered this web site a couple weeks ago and have been finding it rather humerous. It's has a liberal slant, but seems to hang more on government watch. Enjoy!

Your free time
Why don't you spend your free time doing something positive? You would feel much better.
Dee, it is still a free country....
and the Constitution guarantees the right of Christians (or any faith) religious freedom and the right of exercise thereof. Most people want to leave off those last 4 important words. Christians do not take off their faith at the door. It is part of the fabric of our lives and decision making process. If that offends you, I'm sorry. I am a bit offended by people telling me I need to keep God out of posts, keep Him in the closet and let Him out on Sundays. So I guess we will both have to be offended. Have a wonderful day! :-)
Free country...
Exactly, it is a free country. That also means that we, as Christians, should be able to visit the mall, watch a movie with our kids, watch a television show with our family WITHOUT being bombarded with sex at every turn. Why is it that WE must not "go to the mall, watch TV", etc., when this is a free country, founded on Christian principles...founded on the belief in God and Jesus. This is His country, like it or not...and one day He will come back and claim it and His people. Then what will the rest do???
Why not? It's a free country right?
Why not a park bench? Trailers are acceptable. Deplorable houses are acceptable. So what's wrong with a park bench?
I go to school right now and it is free -
The money comes from our Georgia lottery proceeds. It is called the HOPE scholarship. If you graduate high school with a B or above you get the scholarship. If you were graduated before the program was enacted there is a HOPE grant that will pay for either a certificate or a diploma from a technical school/2 year college and once you complete 45 hours with at least a B average you can then be eligible for the HOPE scholarship which can be used at any university.
I right now am attending school to get a degree in accounting and it is not costing me a penny out of my own pocket.
