Human rights is an issue for you and your children... wake up and open your mind

yes, I will explain human rights to you now sm
Barack Obama has announced that he will close Guantanamo. Throughout the world, this announcement will be understood as an introduction to a new kind of American leadership, a repudiation of the unilateralism of the Bush administration, and a return to diplomacy and the rule of law.
Closing Guantanamo will be a complicated process, which must be accomplished in phases. But the first step clearly is the settlement of the 50 or 60 detainees who have been cleared for release but have nowhere to go. These men have been called the “Guantanamo refugees.” Some of these men are stateless, but most of them simply can’t be returned to their home countries because their lives would be in danger there.
A number of European countries have recently indicated a willingness to take in some of the Guantanamo refugees. But the U.S. must also take some of them.
A group of 17 ethnic Uyghurs from western China have been at Guantanamo almost since its opening. From very early on, they were known to be innocent. In September 2008, a federal court officially cleared them of “enemy combatant” status. In October, Federal Court Judge Ricardo Urbina ordered them released into the U.S, where Uyghur-American families were waiting to take them in. Justice Department lawyers obtained a stay pending appeal to the Court of Appeals. The appeal was briefed and argued in late November. The Government argued that only the President has the power to order the transfer of detainees and their release into the U.S. The appeal has not yet been decided by the Court. As President, Obama should either dismiss the appeal and comply with Judge Urbina’s order or exercise his power as President to bring the Uyghurs to the U.S.
Human rights is getting way twisted
I go by the Bible and a much higher authority.
Terrorists...human rights...sm
I don't think the terrorists were too worried about the human rights of the 9-11 victims.
It's a little thing called human rights!
What makes you think Americans deserve more rights than human beings from other countries? The phrase all men are created equal applies to the entire human race not just Americans.
You have it opposite! It's HUMAN rights at stake... gosh! duh
nm
Why is it racist to call a Muslim a Muslim?
A Christian doesn't mind being called a Christian.
Your phony indignation just proves how oversensitive people are to perceived slights these days.
Switzerland is nice and backward, try there? How can you be afraid of human rights?
nm
we already have a racist in the white house
George Bush does not like black people
how racist was that? No white trash in the ERs
x
She called me racist and I am white,
husband black and mixed daughter. Go figure!
i agree. of course, the white male would be called a racist too for not wanting a minority to succed
//
He is Muslim, born Muslim, raised Muslim
++
He was born to a Muslim father and raised Muslim
for a time. You don't get to choose to drop out of that religion. Doesn't matter if you were born into it and didn't choose it to begin with. Leaving earns you a death sentence, especially such a public conversion to another religion. Why does he get to be a Christian now and nobody in radical Islam is calling for his head on pike? Unless.......
Going to a Muslim school doesn't make him Muslim
And point of fact is that it was 2 years in Catholic school, 2 years in a "Muslim" school. He was living in Indonesia. He had to attend school in Indonesia. His mother, doing what mothers do, wanted him to get the best education available. She tried 2 years at the Catholic school and then determined at that point that the quality of education provided was better at the Muslim school. There was some teaching of Muslim philosophy but this more emphasis was paid to standard educational requirements, what's referred to as the 3 Rs (Reading, wRiting, 'Rithmetic).
Attending a school with some affiliation does not automatically confer the same status on you. Jews can go to Catholics without converting. Whites can go to those schools thought of as primary African-American without becoming black. Sometimes, folks, a school is just a school, and 2 years in an extremely secular school at the ages of 8-10 does not turn him into a radical Muslim.
Frankly, his education and family life seems like it makes him almost the perfect president to be able to understand and empathize with a much wider range of American citizens than any president before him.
I guess you want the old white, wrinkly white guy?
Right wing horsesh*t being shoved out as "truth." Sad.
You might not deserve him, but I do, and so...sm
do millions of other Americans, and we will vote for him, and he will win!
You obamamatrons will deserve what you get.
That's why polls deserve little to no attention
nm
You don't deserve a dignified response. nm

The rich dont deserve a tax cut? They already pay a
nm
Right, Obama does not deserve to be a candidate
nm
Doesn't even deserve an answer
Blaming McCain and Palin for this is idiotic.
If you don't think our troops deserve BODY ARMOR
provided by the President who is all too eager to see them die but never had the guts to put is own life on the line for his country, then YOU are the one who doesn't care about our troops.
If I'm a joke, you're a disgrace and a fraud.
Yes, I think ALL kids deserve affordable healthcare.
I know a little 5-year-old boy with a cancerous brain tumor. His family owns a local construction company and makes decent money, maybe even the $80,000 you speak of. They still have had to have 2 fundraisers just to cover costs associated with saving this precious little boy's life, and they have "decent insurance."
So yes, I think ALL FAMILIES, regardless of income, should have access to more affordable insurance. What happens if one of the parents becomes unemployed? They lose their healthcare coverage. I do not like the fact that most insurance is covered through your employer. Many people have to work the whole time they are fighting cancer or other diseases for fear of losing their health insurance. Even people making $80,000 per year can drown in medical bills that total in the hundreds of thousands, so I don't think their children should be excluded from CHIP healthcare either. People making $80,000 would not get on the program for free, but at a much more reasonable cost than most insurance companies would charge.
When I say I think ALL children in the USA should have free or affordable healthcare, I mean ALL children, rich and poor.
While she does deserve our thoughts and prayers, I dare say...
some will say she deserves as much respect as the left showed to Mrs. Palin's handicapped child and pregnant daughter.
911 and Katrina victims don't deserve compassion?
Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise. That means he must be the perfect pub. Get a grip. The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there.
911 and Katrina victims don't deserve compassion?
Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise. That means he must be the perfect pub. Get a grip. The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there, which is the why, by the way, he got kicked off CNN. Hopefully Lou Dobbs will be next.
Agree to disagree. I don't think we deserve Barack Obama...
and with his same stances on things, I wouldn't vote for him, I don't care what party he represented. It is not about party for me. It is about the stand of the man. And for me it is nobama, no way, no how...no matter what ticket he is running on.
He didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize
"What do you have against clean environment, alternative energy, jobs creation and a global warming plan?"
I don't have anything against a clean environment, alternative energy or job creation. I don't, however, buy into the global warming hype, especially when it's pushed as hard algore is trying to sell it because he is a politician and I don't trust him anymore than I trust the rest of them. There HAD to have been someone more worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize than that clown. (I'll bet he traded some of his carbon credits for votes.)
I agree. Trolls dont even deserve a response.

repub utah gov
just touted SP's foreign policy experience because the state borders RUSSIA and CANADA. That is twice the experience she had before. Utah gov also flummoxed by tape showing Rove saying dem Tim Kain (3-year gov) did not have the experience to be VP. Utah gov tried to recover, but stepping all over his tongue.
A day in the life of Joe Repub. sm
Someone e-mailed this to me, I thought it was kind of funny and took it in the spirit in which it was sent (considering a pub sent it to me). The date says 2004, but whoever recirculated it put in some current references. Not saying that it is true, just thought it was funny.
A Day in the life of Joe Republican.
Politics September 28, 2004
Found on This Modern World, an e-mail that’s apparently making the rounds:
Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations]
All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to and the power of unions] He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations that have prevented poisoned food being imported to the USA ]
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained[Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations] .
Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations and environmental protections]. He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor. Joe begins his work day. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of many of the public projects in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to and the power of unions] If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to safety nets in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of many of these consumer protections and public assistance in favor of the giant financial industry] Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of America for the good of ALL Americans) He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of America for the good of ALL Americans) The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of America for the good of ALL Americans) He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to unions and government safety nets in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. (And have used smears and lies against liberals that have pushed these agendas)Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.” (sic)
Joe the P is just another repub FRAUD
just one of many many many and the sheep who won't open their eyes to the mess the repubs have made will never learn
You need to scroll down cuz your repub pal
k? clear now? Palin's husband belongs to a fringe political group that tried to have Alaska secede from the Union. Are you trying to deny that and say he is absolved from all sin because he is a fisherman?
Well, if Obama was a Repub, they WOULD be all
nm
I think I said that a few weeks ago about the Repub board.
Deja vu.
credit to the repub congress
Are you KIDDING me? They shut down the government in a tiffy fit. They fought him tooth and nail on everything. They spent countless time and money trying to impeach him. You need to get a library card an USE it, girlfriend.
What content? All I see is more Repub vs. Dem bashing.
So did the majority of Congress, Dem and Repub...
or nothing would have passed. Sheesh. You act like McCain passed every bill all by his lonesome. Let's be real here.
A Repub in Independent's clothing. You know
OINK
If it truly happend, it's horrible. But neither repub
to control what people do. All they can do is condemn the act. Obviously this was just some punk gangster, and my belief is that if she'd had an Obama sticker on her car, he probably would've carved an M for McCain.
Not necessarily....enough Repub senators ....
remain so that the democrats don't have a filibuster-proof majority. So if the repubs grow a backbone and stand up...the dems will be somewhat limited in what they can do. We shall see how it all turns out. But yeah...the potential for a major hosing will still exist.
SIX THAT IS S I X YEARS OF REPUB CONGRESS AND
you are hanging on straws
Here's a repub with some REAL class.
x
Yes, for now those VRs need human
editors but they are getting better every day and with the government pushing for full speed ahead it shouldn't take long. I expect in the not too distant future "see alice" won't be an issue as new drugs will simply be entered into the software. I'm not a computer geek so I don't know HOW they will do it but do it they WILL.
Far be it from me to try to convince those MTs who think they are indispensable that it isn't so.
Geez...I am not a Repub...and I watch Fox so I can get both sides...
I am not going to get that from MSNBC, I am not going to get that from CNN, and I am certainly not going to get it from ABC, CBS, and NBC. You might want to back off the name calling a little bit...I could say the very same thing about MSNBC, CNN, BBC, and the other 3. You go there because they say what YOU want to hear and regularly bash conservatives. So admit it...as long as the bashing is of people you disagree with and you don't have to listen to any view but your own you are a happy camper. Just accept that you are the kettle and stop calling the pot black. :)
You are wrong. It was repub congress until 2006.
And then GW was in there vetoing everything including stem cell... kiss my grits you repubs.
Make that 6 years of Repub control &
I used to be a Repub, and when they added anti-abortion to
(And I'll never go back.)
Why should any human being have the right to decide...
whether another is allowed to live? You honestly don't find a problem with that? What will your thought be when they decide that when people are not useful to society anymore they just be euthanized? It's legal in Holland; you can have grandpa put down. Don't think it can't happen here...because when you start to devalue human life, no matter what level that is on...you start down a very slippery slope.
You keep saying the government meddle in a woman's life...what about the baby? What about that life, who can't speak for itself, can't defend itself, can't run? Picture someone chasing a toddler around a room that the toddler can't escape from, slicing pieces off until its dead? That is somehow more palatable because it hasn't been born yet?? Sorry, Amanda...to ME that is the underlying question here. The VICTIM in all this is the CHILD.
