I, too, find the Viggo mortensen tie-in a little strange. I had to reread the entire thread and I only saw Hollywood, no one specific named, was there? Other than Willie and he isn't Hollywood. Anyhow, I don't like Dennis either. I can remember when he was all over the news going to do something about the gasoline prices and never heard another word out of him after he was elected. He's no different than most of them and no better than any of othem.

SP sinking . . . losing her "oh look at the shiny new object" diversionary value. Obama on the upswing . . . and these were before the latest financial fiasco which McCain and Gramm had a hand in by deregulating financial institutions.

WASHINGTON - The White House is suddenly facing damaging evidence that it misled the public by insisting for two years that presidential adviser Karl Rove wasn't involved in leaking the identity of a female CIA officer. President Bush, at an Oval Office photo opportunity Tuesday, was asked directly whether he would fire Rove -- in keeping with a pledge in June, 2004, to dismiss any leakers in the case. The president did not respond. For the second day, White House press secretary Scott McClellan refused to answer questions about Rove.

This article says that the White House may have misled the public. And, they apparently pledged to fire anyone who had leaked this information. This has become interesting, hope it doesn't fade right away from the public view.

Two videos surfaced showing P support for bridge to nowhere. Alaska did receive the money. She did not stop supporting bridge until Congress cancelled the allocation. Alaska KEPT the money. One project it paid for a road to the place where the bridge would have been.

Her chef she claimed to have fired was simply reassigned other duties and still kept cooking for the kids.

the joint editorial decrying the mismanagement of Fannie/Freddie and how they were going to go to Washing to fight influence of lobbyists? Rick Davis, McCain campaign advisor was a lobbyist for Fannie/Freddie.

McCain squad & cohorts in Alaska tried to have the democrat removed from the bipartisan group investigating troopergate but failed. They are still working to hid the truth up there.

Nat'l Guard leader in Alaska said that SP played no part in Nat'l Guard. He later came out and said P DID have experience in military command. Coincidentally, he was then promoted to a higher grade in the Nat'l Guard. Hmm . . . funny how that happens . . .

Just one of the many places for good info. And to think, it's "okay" to not only imply but state that incest occurs in the Palin home? Seriously, when is enough enough? As a conservative, I skewer the turds in the bunch on a regular basis. Those RINOs don't work for me any more than the Barney Franks, Chris Dodds, etc. work for anyone else but themselves!

Potentially Big News on Lieberman's Cap-and-Trade Proposal

Recently, one of the most irksome members of the Senate, Joe Lieberman (I-Clowntown) expressed openness to one of the boldest and most effective climate-change policies possible. Some background,

A cap-and-trade system begins by placing a cap on carbon emissions and distributing permits (permission to emit a certain amount of CO2) equal to the capped amount. The notion is that permits will be bought and sold, allowing market forces to determine where emission reductions can be made fastest and easiest. The question is how to distribute those initial permits.

When the EU carbon trading system was established, permits were given away based on emissions, meaning the biggest polluters got the most permits. The idea was that those polluters most needed the money because they had the biggest reductions to make, but in practice it was an enormous financial windfall for their shareholders and prompted very little action on their part to reduce emissions.

The alternative is to sell the permits at auction. This would, in effect, put the proceeds in government coffers rather than in the pockets of utility shareholders. The question then becomes: what should the gov't do with all that money (up to $50B a year)?

The Lieberman-Warner cap-and-trade proposal, released early this year, was widely seen as the "moderate" bill that could get some support from Senate Republicans. One of the biggest criticisms it faced is that it would auction only 20% of the permits -- 80% would be given away to polluters.

But an intriguing item in Politico indicates that Lieberman may be open to changing that:

Lieberman, following a forum sponsored by the Progressive Policy Institute Wednesday, said such a change to his legislation was possible. "We've heard [calls for a 100 percent auction] from some stakeholders and heard that from some of our members. We're thinking about it. Warner and I haven't closed our minds to that. It's on the table," he said.

This could be huge news. The L-W proposal is viewed as the middle of the road. If it moves to 100% auctioned credits, that will effectively sanctify it as the new baseline. The policy and political implications are both huge.

Fox and of course had the 'ole Fox spin put on it, riling up once again the unstable.

Most of the money will not go to the people. So far, I have not come across anything that deals with foreclosures, etc. The item I posted last night from our local newspaper is the so-called stimulus package that will help foreclosures.

Read the doggone bill that they are trying to pass, please. Then you may see the light of day.
