we get laughed at and told we are asking for handouts.
I still believe that the best way to revive the banks is to go through the homeowners. Isn't bailing out and giving money to the big buisnesses still essentially trickle down economics? It's going to take too long for this stimulus to reach the average citizen. By then too many people will be without a job/home/food, etc.

Than offer something constructive...
instead of whining about what you don't like. That's all we hear is whining and complaining without any solutions or suggestion that you feel would be a better way to go. Not only that, are you privy to the same information that President and Obama and his cabinet are privy to? I've been thinking about you stating on a public forum/message board that I am the person responsible for threatening you and your family. I assume these sorts of threats to a person via email are illegal, not sure what the charge would be if brought to litigation, however, I would think that your stating publicly you are sure I'm the person responsible is probably a very bad idea on your part.
I am a 54-year-old grandmother who has never harassed anyone via email. The closest I have ever come to anything harassment-wise were the ugly emails I got from the former owner of this board. I still have them. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, I have had the same email for about 8 years. If you truly believe I am the person responsible for terrorizing you and your family I think you should inform the authorities investigating these threats of my personal information so they can assure you I am not the person you have accused me of being.

Gosh, darn it, why don't you get this information post haste to RNC headquarters. Maybe they can have McCain and Palin start talking about this stuff and win over a few non-thinking voters in the coming days (if they can stop in-fighting). Get these "facts" out there!

Just like your parents can't make that decision for you Bush can't make those decisions for his daughters. For cryin' out loud, think about it? I don't believe they could sign up for Secret Service issues, because what more could the enemy ask for but a direct chance to take a presidential family member hostage. In a prior post I made the following offer:
.....no amount of money would induce me to volunteer to be tortured (you know, beaten cut, burned - severe pain or harm). But cut me a check (certified only, please) with a number followed by a whole lot of zeros and I would be waterboarded (strictly in the interest of science). Our special forces are trained to withstand this and other 'harsh' interrigation techniques...... It's scary and unpleasant but way different from having your fingernails pulled out or a field generator and alligator clips used.
I had in mind more like $500,000, but yeah, for enough money I would certainly consider that an offer I couldn't refuse.

As I read in another post, there is no way we are going to change each other's opinions. A good debate is good, but when it gets ugly, and it usually does, it's just not worth wasting time.

urged U.S. authorities to accept Cuba's offer of 1586

Latest reports indicate the U.S. State Department is
backing away from the offer, implying they are not
needed.
Up to this point, there been a clear need for more
medical help for Katrina victims, said Peter Bourne,
MD, Chairman of MEDICC and former special adviser on
health in the Carter White House and former Assistant
Secretary General at the United Nations. The Cuban
physicians are accustomed to working in difficult
third-world conditions without the resources and
supplies most of us are accustomed to. Since they are
just an hour away, it is a shame that they have not
been allowed to join our committed medical corps
already.
He is joined by other physicians, medical educators,
international health experts and a former U.S. surgeon
general associated with MEDICC, Medical Education
Cooperation with Cuba. From 1998 through 2004, MEDICC
has provided medical electives in Cuba for nearly 1000
students and faculty from 118 U.S. medical, public
health and nursing schools.
Cuba has been recognized by the UN, Oxfam and other
international organizations as a leader in disaster
response, expertise that could be saving lives now,
said Doctor William Keck, former long-time director of
the Akron, Ohio Department of Public Health.
A 2004 Oxfam Report, Weathering the Storm: Lessons in
Risk Reduction from Cuba, states that there are real
lessons to be learned from Cuba on how to safeguard
lives during extreme natural disasters, including
getting medical attention to vulnerable populations.

authorities hurricane relief in the form of 1100
disaster-trained bilingual physicians, each equipped

On Saturday, September 3, Cuba increased the offer to
1586 doctors, ready for immediate deployment and
prepared to stay as long as necessary to help wherever

Cuban disaster relief experience spans 45 years,
mainly in hurricanes faced by the Caribbean island and
in coping with disasters confronted by other
developing countries. Another nearly 25,000 Cuban
health professionals provide longer-term health care
services in 68 countries, under
government-to-government agreements.
Cuba trains 10,500 medical students from 27 countries
at its Latin American Medical School -- 65 of them

More of your tax dollars are being spent there than at McDonalds or whatever, if we do not get more people working, we also have LESS people paying into the tax system, both federal and state, which subsidises OTHER necessitites. And people complain about the immigrant workers taking jobs? Because of substandard wages and the increased benefit of being on Welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, and Medicaide, it seems only immigrants WANT to do these insultingly low-paying jobs. I am talking about a wage where a family can be together, both parents are not working two jobs, and thus not taking care of the kids, another social problem, and employed taxpayers are also CONSUMERS who drive the economy, but if you are not making a living wage, you cannot participate in the economy. Does not surprise me at all, all politicians are crooks, that is why they had the wearwithall to get into it, smart, but all crooks. Bill Clinton was a sex addict, no doubt, but he did more to help me than any other president. I am a swing vote, I vote for the man not the party. I don't like the current President, I can see he has no soul in his eyes, but yet, they claim they won "two elections", he only won one, and I still doubt that considering that his brother was the gov of one of the highest electoral votes. But I do believe he won the last election, and his supreme court nomination has to be respected. I am not happy with Dudley Do Right, but Dubya did win one election, (we think), and he as president has the right to appoint whomever he wants.
It's about time this was done
While I don't agree that this is all the president's fault, and while I think some of what these governors are doing is political positioning it's about time somebody does something about this. A lot of the immigration could be handled at the state level other than the border patrol which is solely in the federal government's hand. This is where we as citizens must demand our leaders both dem. and rep. to stand up and do their jobs, and this does include the president. While I am a great fan of Bush this is one of the areas I think he's lacking in along with the majority of our leaders at the federal, state, and local levels. I hope these states go one step further and call in the National Guard. This is going to be the issue that I think will determine elections in 2006 and 2008 along with the issue of soaring gas prices and oil demand.

Friday 14 October 2005
When the possibility of far-reaching war crimes and crimes against humanity exists, people of conscience have a solemn responsibility to inquire into the nature and scope of these acts and to determine if they do in fact rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity. That is the mission of the International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity. The first session will be held October 21-22 in New York City. This tribunal will, with care and rigor, present evidence and assess whether George W. Bush and his administration have committed crimes against humanity. Well-established international law will be referenced where applicable, but the tribunal will not be limited by the scope of existing international law.
The tribunal will deliberate on four categories of indictable crimes: 1) Wars of Aggression, with particular reference to the invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. 2) Torture and Indefinite Detention, with particular reference to the abandonment of international standards concerning the treatment of prisoners of war and the use of torture. 3) Destruction of the Global Environment, with particular reference to systematic policies contributing to the catastrophic effects of global warming. 4) Attacks on Global Public Health and Reproductive Rights, with particular reference to the genocidal effects of forcing international agencies to promote abstinence only in the midst of a global AIDS epidemic.
The Commission's jury of conscience will be composed of internationally respected jurists and legal scholars, prominent voices of conscience, and experts and monitors in relevant fields. The tribunal's legitimacy is derived from its integrity, its rigor in the presentation of evidence, and the stature of its participants. Representatives of the Bush administration will be invited to present a defense.
Prior to the meeting of the Commission, teams with sufficient expertise will prepare preliminary indictments in each of the four areas, setting forth the scope of the Bush administration's actions and how they contravene legal and moral norms for international behavior. At the meeting of the Commission, there will be four prosecution teams that organize the presentation of the evidence. This evidence will be documents as well as eyewitness testimony by victims and observers of the crimes alleged. The formal proceedings will be held in a public venue and all attempts will be made to publicize and broadcast its deliberations internationally. The Commission's jury of conscience will come to verdicts and its findings will be published.
The holding of this tribunal will frame and fuel a discussion that is urgently needed in the United States: Is the administration of George W. Bush guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity? The Commission will conduct its work with a deep sense of responsibility to the people of the world.

The stupid rules have made these boards a place where only crickets chirp. Its sad that people are so childish and cannot discuss things like mature adults. I will try this one more time...
There IS money for childrens' health care, if we prioritize. Anyone with half a brain knows there is waste galore in the social programs we have now. They are not administered properly, rules are not followed, people get on who should not thereby taking the funds for people who really need them. All I suggested is that they go ahead and do the cigarette tax, and then prioritize how to spend the rest of the social funding and make sure childrens' health care goes first. As to agreeing or disagreeing to the war...won't go there as childrens' health insurance seems to be the issue. If they would clean up the SCHIP program now and get all the illegals off it, there would be that much more funding for insuring American children. Then if the illegals want to get legal, seek citizenship and pay taxes into the system like the rest of us, then yes, I think their children should be covered too. I really don't see why Democrats seem to have a problem with prioritizing spending. We do it on a personal basis every day; why can't the government do it with OUR tax money? We all know we can't do everything we would like to do. Therefore we should do the most important things first. That is just common sense. Just like parents are not made of money where their own families are concerned, the government (that being your tax dollars and mine) is not made of money either...and prioritization as far as social programs needs to be done. I really don't see why everyone seems to have a problem with that.

I couldn't disagree more. I think Obama is going to be torn apart if he is the nominee, more so than Clinton would. Really, I just do not like the guy. I think he is totally arrogant, along with his wife  , and I do not believe for a minute that he is honest. Of course, Clinton isn't either. They're both lousy.
