How do you know what most liberals thought?
I mean, that is quite a sweeping statement. My husband and I are both liberals. I thought Colbert was hilarious. My husband said he felt 2 things at the same time, one humor...he thought it was funny but at the same time he felt it was disrespectful. I thought it was interesting in the video that when they would pan the crowd we could see people laughing but as soon as they realized they were on film, they stopped. There is a thankyouSteveColbert site, much like the Harry Taylor site. By the Thursday following the dinner it had 40,000 replies, many more now. I still don't know what **most liberals** thought; I don't even know how many liberals there are but at least 40,000+ of us thought he was funny and said what we would LOVE to say given the opportunity.

I think this was in bad taste, but...
This took place in West Hollywood, California, which is a predominantly gay community. It was done as a Halloween decoration. It comes as a result of Sarah Palin trying to force her beliefs upon the gay community when she has no right to do so.
Again, let me reiterate, I think this was in very bad taste.

Kicking out guests in the middle of their stay just because the annointed one said "I'm here, it's mine" would have been bad taste. But maybe you think they should have been yanked out of bed in the middle of the night just to kick them out in the streets to give it to the O. There are plenty of ritzy hotels for the O and I'm sure he had no problems finding another place.

have anything to say about how the outgoing President treated Obama when he would not allow him and his family to stay at the Blair House which is customary for an incoming President reside until he takes office because Bush had a friend of his their (I believe it was some politician) from Australia staying there. I just wanted to make sure I was giving the correct information. This was for her birthday last year. He bought her earrings that cost $5,000 and she exchanged them for earrings that cost $12,000. She checked with her husband and he came back in and bought the earring for $12, 000.

There hasn't been a SINGLE PRESIDENT willing to address the borders. I wish Bush would get off his duff about the border too, but if he did put a military clamp down on our border, you'd have a huge uproar from the civil liberties camp. You can never make everybody happy.
As for spending... Most Democrats never met a dollar they didn't want to spend. Wanna have your hair stand on end? Read a synopsis of The Big Dig in Boston, a la Kennedy and Kerry. Talk about a money pit at the taxpayers expense. If only it were a perfect world, but it never will be.

The present mess has nothing to do with George Bush...
and everything to do with Mr. Dodd and Mr. Frank and the other Democrats who consistently blocked reforming of Fannie and Freddie. They deserve most of the credit for this fiasco.
The present crisis was not caused by Bush or McCain...
both approached the Democrats a total of 4 times trying to get Fannie/Freddie regulated. We can't afford Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, AND a Democratic president. Whatever else Bush is or is not, he is NOT responsible for this current financial MESS.

True, you can do it yourself, the IRS just makes so daunting and intimidating with all those forms, and then you worry if you make another mistake, you will get another penalty.....Just those three letters together give most folk the heebie geebies.
Also, taling about not needing a service, most people do not know that you DO NOT need those miriad of services who will "talk down your credit bills" and renegotiate. Especially in these times, banks are very eager to get payment and work with you, most banks have a "hardship" department where you can talk to reps who can negotiate lower settlements, eliminate fees, figure out a very good payment plan without fees, etc. You can do it yourself without paying a debt relief service.

There is about to be an explosion of spending and for those that really do work and think they won't be paying taxes, think again! You could only use half your brain or whatever is lucid and understand the ONLY way to pay for that kind of spending is by EVERYONE who works to pay taxes.

Down the drain? Beware of Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth around'

If the McCain campaign can’t use this Obama quote to raise doubts about his attitude towards wealth and success, then they deserve the shellacking they seem headed for.
“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”
“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
Plumbers of the country, unite! Forget about the work and effort you put into building up a business or the scummy work that you do that many of us don’t know or don’t want to do. If you have succeeded, you should be willing to give up more of what you earn to help those who haven’t had the great good luck that you have had to be a successful plumber. Remember how Obama is going to give 95% of all of us a tax cut even though over 30% of the population doesn’t pay taxes?
He might call it a tax credit, but what he’s really doing is his vision of “spreading the wealth around.” It sounds a lot like Huey Long’s 1935 plan to “Share the Wealth.” And when he finds that he can’t tax the top 5% of the population to gain enough wealth to spread to the 95% of the rest of us, do you really think that he’ll stop with that 5%?
Remember…This is the guy who said in the ABC debate during the primary season that his approach to raising tax on capital gains is not based on whether it would provide more revenue but on his idea of what is fair:
GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, “I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton,” which was 28 percent. It’s now 15 percent. That’s almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.
But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.
So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?
OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.
Just what we need in these fragile economic times — a guy who wants to raise taxes because he thinks it’s a matter of “fairness” and time to “spread the wealth around.”
That will be some incentive for other plumbers who want to work hard and build up a successful business.
But don’t worry - according to Joe Biden, it’s the patriotic thing to do.

I don't know where you live, but where I live, you are better off working. Clinton cut welfare down to a pittance - 40 hr work week for $123 per week. Kids get Medicaid. Ah, can't forget the food stamps - must begrudge these sloths food!
In Nazi Germany, the Jews cooperated in their own destruction; the Nazis found a form of defection that looked to desperate Jews like cooperation, and they boarded the cattle cars. The message of the Contract Republicans seems also to be that the only cooperation we seek from the desperately poor is that they vanish. The message is that we do not care how they do it: die, leave or metamorphose into something else; just don't disturb us on your way out.
I know what it's like to be poor.....
I know what it's like to consider paper towels a luxury. Where Banquet salsbury steak, macaroni and cheese, hotdogs, rice and oatmeal was all I could afford to eat. I see that again in my immediate future due to job loss and illness in my family. If I'm in that 30%? So be it. We'll make it. We always have. I just refuse to worry about it.

That being said, here is link to article from Wall Street Journal about both candidates and outsourcing...Obama is not going to stop it either. He has said on the stump the answer is more highly educated American workers to compete.
It seems to me, and although you may think this is also a "piece," that if you put our corporate tax rates lower, if that corporation is inclined to hire Americans and not outsource then they will do so.
You honestly think the majority of corporations just WANT to outsource and taxes don't matter?

He never gave an interview to anyone who would ask him hard questions until last month and he has been at this for a year and a half. But you never hear Obama followers say that. Because whatever he says, even if it is beating around the bush, he says the magic words I will punish the rich and give all of you in the middle class a tax cut...and that is all they want to hear. Democrats have been saying that same old stuff for years...when in the past were you much better off than you are right now?
I am actually better off financially now than I ever have been. I have survived both Republican and Democrat administrations and just worked my way up to where I am. I am not rich, but I am comfortable. And Obama is intent on taking that away from me. Don't expect me to be happy he is doing it, or that you are helping him do it. lol.
