I read about this today.
What I find the most interesting is that he feels "...and he said that a controversial legal theory then in vogue -- of directing employers to pay women equally to men for jobs of "comparable worth" -- was "staggeringly pernicious" and "anti-capitalist."

Say WHAT Mr. Roberts?

I have been reading up today...and will read more...
later this evening. I am trying to find out if there is a provision for where the recipient lives, because as you stated, the cost of living differs greatly in certain areas and that should definitely be taken into consideration if it is not being taken into consideration now.

I am also looking into the illegals issue/states. Many states require only a driver's license as proof of citizenship, and we all know how easy those are to obtain...illegals are caught driving on them all the time. And they use those same driver's licenses to obtain social services.

At any rate, I am looking more deeply into the issue. I will post what I find.
Her column has been dropped by at least 3 news publications....nm

Make sure youre read about today's
Meet the Press with David Gregory. It's embedded in this OP's news story. It's long, but for those who did not watch Meet the Press this morning, please read the whole thing, including Rep. Boehner's interview.
Just read today that the deficit is projected to go down to 313 billion very soon. sm
That's well over 100 billion less, but I know how hard it is to shape the words of appreciation for Hitler Nazi war criminal Bush, so the rest of us will just celebrate.
Yeah, I read today about Odinga, O's cousin
nm
Thank you - the wisest thing I've read yet today
I keep posting there are bad and good on both sides. Neither side is perfect. There are a lot of democrats I agree with and I think they are right on (Kucinich, Richardson, and others in the senate). Actually there are more democrats I agree with than I would rather admit to. HA HA, but there are some I absolutely do not agree with (Pelosi, Reid, Clinton and others). On the other side there are some republicans I agree with (Ron Paul and others, can't think of any others right now just cos I'm so tired) and those that I think really stink (Bush at the top of them), but unless we get on this board praising Obama and every single democrat and cut down and destroy every republican, we will get bashed over and over. I have said many times there are good and bad on both sides and if people are going to follow the group think and not think for themselves, well that's when they lose a part of their sense. My mom is a great one. I don't know how many arguments I will have with her. She hates Bush so much with such a vengence she has come right out and said what she want to happen. "He's a liar, he's this, I don't have any money because of Bush, etc, etc. But the minute I say to her If you want to talk about liars lets hit on Clinton, or lets talk about what Obama said. Ohhhh no, can't do that. I was also told by her "If you know what is good for you, you'll stop saying those bad things about him". I asked her what exactly does that mean and she said I just better watch it. Then I said to her, well how can you say what you say about Bush but I tell you I disagree about something Obama said and your ready to report me to the authorities. Funny how someone mysteriously happened to be knocking on her door at that moment and she had to leave (btw, I didn't hear anything in the background and her phone is in the halway near her front door). So unless people will admit when they are wrong there will always be arguments.
I like what Dave Letterman had to say last
on his show.  Evidently McCain was supposed to be on but called and canceled because he is putting his campain on hold.  Dave was letting him have it, etc., a lot of satire, but he did have a really good point - Why suspend your campaign or put it on hold.  Why not let Palin take over until he gets done in DC?  I think that was a very valid point.
Why be mad at Dave? His job is to make
fun of stuff like this. You just have to take it all with a grain of salt. I saw it too and I think he genuinely was upset that McCain canceled. Letterman said that he personally talked to McCain and McCain said that he was leaving, like right now, to go to DC and then he found out he was over giving an interview to Couric. I think he genuinely holds McCain in high regard and he was very disappointed.
MTs for dave ramsey
I love Dave Ramsey !!! Dave for president !
You have to see the movie Dave!
It's about a guy that looks like the President and when the real President has a heart attack while with his mistress, he gets hired to pretend to be the President. He then starts making all these changes - including a terrific budget-cutting scene you'll just love! Great, great movie.
Oh of course Barry will

be paying tax on his cigarettes, but the tax certainly will have no economic or social impact on him.  Does he actually purchase his own?  Or does he have 'people' to do that for him? RHIP.

This country has a long and notorious history of trying to prohibit certain bahaviors either by outlawing them, or by taxing them.  As for outright prohibiting or taxing out of existence ANYTHING (tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, hard drugs, prostitution, pornography, owning a gun, owning gold, using incandescent light bulbs, driving an SUV, eating fast fooods, earning more than $250K) we all know how well this concept has worked in the past.  Tell us that 'for our own good' or for an even more nebulous reason 'the good of society'  or even more vague 'for the good of the entire planet' certain behaviors must be stopped and we will certainly find a way around it.  Only the really fearful law-abiding citizen will obey, the rest, people who previously were not criminals, will become criminals to keep from being bossed around.

The only exception that comes right to my mind is segregation.  That actually was a combination of social pressure and legislation.  And it did not happen until the social climate was ready to accept it.  It wasn't without a fight, but it was something the majority of reasonable and right-thinking could understand was the right thing to do.

Barry is a joke for sure...........

This plan of Dave Ramsey works for me....I like it...

As in Barry Hussein Obama.

Do you really believe Barry is going to tax the rich democrats
No, his rich democrat buddies will get richer and we will be paying for it. Obama's purpose is to put the middle income class now in the lower income class (distribute the wealth and make us all poor). Meanwhile you really think he's going to tax his rich democrat buddies (Franks, Pelosi, Reid, and hundreds others). I found this article to be interesting.

They should probably hurry before Barry from Chicago...
gets his national "security" police force going....
Diaper Dave in airport rage "Do You Know Who I Am?" umm...depends

Report Of Vitter In Airport Rage: Do You Know Who I Am?!!

Roll Call reports that Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), the staunch social conservative whose career became bogged down in the 2007 D.C. Madam prostitution scandal, was sighted this past Thursday night having an incident of airport rage at Dulles Airport.

Vitter arrived 20 minutes before the plane was scheduled to depart, and found the gate locked. He then opened the door, setting off the alarm and inviting the attention of an airline worker:

Vitter, our spy said, gave the airline worker an earful, employing the timeworn "do-you-know-who-I-am" tirade that apparently grew quite heated.

That led to some back and forth, and the worker announced to the irritable Vitter that he was going to summon security.

Vitter, according to the witness, remained defiant, yelling that the employee could call the police if he wanted to and their supervisors, who, presumably, might be more impressed with his Senator's pin.

But after talking a huffy big game, Vitter apparently thought better of pushing the confrontation any further. When the gate attendant left to find a security guard, Vitter turned tail and simply fled the scene.

Late Update: Vitter is now responding to the story, after a spokesman declined to comment in the initial reports:

"After being delayed on the Senate floor ensuring a vote on my anti-pay-raise amendment and in a rush to make my flight home for town hall meetings the next day, I accidentally went through a wrong door at the gate," Vitter said in a statement. "I did have a conversation with an airline employee, but it was certainly not like this silly gossip column made it out to be."

YIKES! If you would not call Barry from Chicago a far liberal....
then please, PLEASE, WHO do you think IS a far liberal???
This looks interesting. A long read, so will read it when I get home from work. nm
nm
Obviously u didnt read, I said NONE of them are moral. Read the post before spouting off.

I read on CNN (yes, I do read liberal stuff too..hehe)...sm
...that Karl Rove was actually very disappointed in the McCain campaign for airing negative type ads against Obama.

So I would say that Rove is definitely not in the hip pocket of the McCain campaign.
Good research sam - but a lot to read right now so gotta read it later
I've been goofing off too much from work. I appreciate what you wrote and will read when I'm done with work here.
Today is a new day.

I have decided to not even read the conservative board any more, let alone post there.

My suggestion is we respect their board and stop posting there, as they have asked us to do, and that they in turn stop posting on our board, as we have asked them to do.

Anybody want to bet on who can't stay away from which board?

Where is sam today?
I am missing her viewpoint on today's issues.  Sam, are you lurking?

No flaming, please, by the peanut gallery.
the one today at the U of K
The men were charged with disorderly conduct related to the hanging of the effigy. They were also charged with burglary and theft at a fraternity house where police said the materials came from. They were not charged with a hate crime.

UK President Lee Todd said the effigy violates the university's code of ethics, and Fischer faces punishment that could include expulsion.

From what I read, it is not considered a hate crime because: It's also true that as long as it was clear that the hanging figure represented Obama or another prominent black politician rather than a private citizen, it wouldn't be legally actionable as a hate crime. Our laws give broad latitude to clear expressions of political opinion, as opposed to incitements to violence against ethnic groups.

is that as of today?
Is that as of today or as of Nov 4th. I am asking this seriously, not a smart aleck comment. I have read that since 11/4 something like 42 electors have joined in one or more of the suits to order production of the B/C before they vote. No, I am not sure of the actual number, but I know I did read that they had joined in the suits because they felt it would be a constitutional violation to vote until the issue had been definitively put to rest as apparently they felt enough doubt had been raised. What I read said they felt this way because the SC is actually considering the writ of certiorari instead of just tossing it.
Yes, that is as of today.
This is a clear-cut, speculation-free figure.
But they said it was today.
Well, then if it is old, CNN SUCKS.
Where have you been today?
why is it when something you perceive to be negative towards Obama comes to light, you choose to believe it ain't so?

No pot was stirred. Decision was made with the blessings of Obama to basically let the terrorists off the hook who blew up the USS Cole. Now, if you don't know anything about that or you don't have a family member who was blown to he!! on that ship, then I suppose it wouldn't concern you, even though it should. These families were not "organized". They heard the ruling that said all the terrorists who blew up their children will get a free pass!! Bush didn't drop the charges against them! Obama did! Where have you been?

And no, if you were watching your TV, you would see they are not being let back on the grounds; even the liberal cameras are now focusing on that.

Since your head has been in the sand, you might like to know that Obama stirred this pot. He asked the families of those murdered to meet with him. HE asked THEM!

Sorry, but he started this little ball rolling all by his lonesome.
How sad that today
people are so willing to throw their children to the lions. If they're not aborting them, they're encouraging them to engage in a behavior that will mean a multitude of disease, early death or lifelong mental problems, and all under the guise of "tolerance." You should be ashamed. This mother is on the right track.
What is it with these links today?

Today is voting day!
Don't forget to vote in your local elections today ~ Your vote does make a difference!
I got the same joke today ..
but it also had "go to Indian casinos and buy prostitutes and beer!"
that's all well and fine, but today's
world never sees any racism as funny, so given the serious nature of this particular board, humor just did not come on the radar.
I'm hearing that a lot today
I've been all over the internet today and everywhere I go I'm seeing woman who feel like McCain is being condescending to women by throwing out this nobody who is ruby red as they come and expecting to get women voters just because of it, especially Hillary followers. These women are insulted and now finally have both feet firmly on the Obama train.
She was in Wisconsin today,
so they didn't send her back yet.

USA Today poll

9/5 - 9/7

McCain 54

Obama 44

No, that would be you......several times today and beyond...nm
z
Polls as of today....
Gallup:
Gallup Daily: McCain 47%, Obama 45%

McCain retains a three-point advantage for the third straight day, 50% to 47% (see recent daily results).

Real Clear Politics
RCP Average 09/05 - 09/13 -- McCain 47.5 Obama 45.2 McCain +2.3

McCain has also diminished Obama's lead in many of the "swing states" and is even within 2 points in Pennsylvania, which is unheard of. Pennsylvania nearly always goes democratic. McCain leads in Ohio. He has gone into the lead in New Mexico and Nevada. That has been steady for several days now.

All that being said...the polls said Kerry should have won many states handily...but he didn't. Polls can be very misleading. We won't know until election night...although this is the first time in how long that a Republican was leading in the polls at this point?

It is a very interesting campaign, that's for darned sure.
That was then and this is now...He just said it today of ALL days!!! sm
WHY WOULD anyone in their RIGHT MIND say such a thing TODAY of all days???? Unless they were completely out of touch with the people of America and what they're going through.

He is another Bush - PERIOD.
I think I heard today that it was
foreign policy, but they will have to address the economy at some point, that's a given. The true poll numbers will be next week, after the debate. Polls are so skewed though anyway, I never put any trust in them.
Yes, I also noticed this too today. Not sure if I saw this before or not.
Could be a sign of a stroke or somethin if it was not there before. Would have to look at previous pics of him from a few days ago or so to see if it was there. Hope not. Do not wish that on anyone.
I saw Obamanation on TV today

talking about how in America hard work is rewarded and I about spit out my pop I was sipping at the time.  Under his regime....hard work will not be rewarded.  What you earn with your hard work will be given to others who don't work hard.  Reward my rear end.  Sheesh.

This whole bail out thing has me irritated beyond belief.  The idea of us having to pay in taxes because some irresponsible people got greedy and screwed us all.  This only makes the idea of universal healthcare worse to me.  Once again, having to pay for other people to have health insurance.  How is it my fault wall street crashed and how is it my fault that some people don't have health insurance but I guess as long as we all pay out the ying yang....everything will just be peaches n cream.....oh please...give me a friggin break.

The View today
Love, love, love Joy (Go Girl!).  Bill O'Reilly is an arrogant, egomaniac and Keith Olberman so has his ticket.  Elisabeth is know-nothing, simpering little twit who most of the time doesn't have a clue what she is talking about.  Whoopi is the best -- so much common sense!!  I would vote for Whoopi in 2012!
Yes, I saw him speak today as well
nm
Believe it or not, the Today show
spent some time on this issue this morning. I was surprised since it's supposed to be buried. They cited all the lawsuits from the different states. But, since I was a bit shocked, my ears went dead and I didn't hear the rest of the story.
