You can hardly get a seat in a restaurant or a parking place at the mall, so don't paint America as this place where people are scratching to get by in mass numbers.
Much of that shopping and dining you witness is being done on credit or at the expense of necessitites such as health insurance and savings. The OP is entirely correct - for the overwhelming majority of American households, disaster is just one unexpected illness or wage-earner loss away.
I'm talking about a certain segment of our society who refuse to learn, refuse to work, and who YOU wish to bring up to an equal place as the rest of society who works hard and earns what they have.
What nonsense. The myth of the shiftless masses is just that - a myth - and an elitist club used to beat the average working person over the head.
Where are these people who refuse to work - ? I mean sure there are always some lazy people but the few I know aren't living very well. Come to think of it, the many I know who are working their butts off aren't even living very well. And what is this refuse to learn garbage? Who's doing the teaching? Who's paying the tuition? What does that even mean, they refuse to learn.
I think these platitudes have less to do with caring about well-functioning society in which everyone (at every level)has worth and work, and more to do with a simple desire to dehumanize and marginalize everyone who is not like us and not doing what we think they should. No need to tackle any glaring problems in our society so long as we can write off the least among us as deserving of their troubles. Takes the load right off, doesn't it!

You are in dreamland for sure!....Tell
of Muslims who live and worship in America. They have been here for years and I don't believe Obama had a thing to do with it. I also believe they are proud to call themselves Americans! When he was asked about the *war on terror* he replied with a comment that he believed the US could win over Moderate Muslims! Wake up, America is home to thousands of Moderate Muslims. Uh, and as you do your transcription today, you might be reminded some of our finest physicians are from the East.
So dancing around..
You are so dancing around the issue of how many have died in Iraq and who caused it. The issue is, if we had not illegally immorally invaded Iraq, there would not have been hundreds of thousands of deaths nor a terrorist breeding ground..We need to take responsibility and Bush needs to be held accountable for his actions. He is as bad as Saddam ever was.
what does dancing have to do with the subject?

Dancing on the graves of black people
Dancing on the graves of black people
Rick Moran The American Thinker September 9th, 2005
Excerpt:
For the left, the aftermath of Katrina has proven to be a godsend. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen them this happy since Hugo Chavez hornswaggled Jimmy Carter into certifying his victory in a recall vote last year. There’s just something about communist thugs that brings a smile to the face of an American lefty and makes their hearts go pitter patter.
But even a victory by “The Laughing Goat” ( La Cabra que Ríe) couldn’t possibly gladden the hearts and warm the cockles of liberals like the prospect of celebrating…what? Well, there’s that drop in the President’s poll numbers. And then there’s…let’s see. Oh! Did I mention the drop in the President’s poll numbers?
Yes, these are heady days for our left wing friends. The fact that their celebrations are taking place as a direct result of the distress, suffering, anguish and death of tens of thousands of their fellow citizens seems to not be of much concern to our morally superior betters. In fact, it has emboldened them to advance every crack pot theory on race and class that has poisoned American politics for going on forty years. One could say the left is dancing on the graves of black people, celebrating the exploitation of a political opening brought about by the incompetence of relief efforts in the largely black neighborhoods of New Orleans. Except for one thing: most of those graves are empty at the moment because the future les habitants haven’t even been plucked from the floodwaters yet.
"I thought not" (sm talking to herself later tonight after dancing.....nm)
You loonie lefties must be simply dancing with rage today, eh?
Oh yeah - and by the way, another little bit of advice: Be careful what you wish for. And I do mean VERY careful. It's been simply amazing watching the radical left fashioning for themselves a two-edged sword on which they themselves will undoubtedly be impaled.
