Ford, GM and Chrysler employ 41,700, another 3.1 million auto-related/after market jobs hang in the balance, $693 billion dollars of revenue was pumped into the economy last year in new car sale alone (not accounting for used car sale and all revenues from auto-related/after market), it's not surprising that it takes 2215 pages of union contracts for the 3 companies to hold it all together. The only way to eliminate this would be for the car manufacturer corporations to do that work themselves, thus eliminating the need for the unions. Yeah, right. Don't hold your breath on that one.
