Computerized med recs

I work for a large HMO on the west coast (starts with a "K")...this topic has been one discussed by many for some time now, and we started computerizing med recs for the last year and a half, and what staff/members were given was a (?what would you call it, a memory stick or something) which is portable and can be carried at all times (I have mine with me always). It has all of my med info for the last two years and I can update it every three to six months with current info. Just wanted to share that.

Probably a dumb question, but what does Pres. Obama mean by computerizing medical records, and how does that hurt/help us?
