Car dealerships are already shutting down

left and right. My dad called me yesterday morning and said Bill Heard Chevrolet in Orlando (I think it's one of the biggest car dealers in Florida) closed it's doors yesterdays. Didn't give their employees their last paycheck, didn't give any clue they were closing down. People were showing up for work and being sent home. Now as far as I know you can only collect up to $275 per paycheck in unemployment in Florida (correct me if I'm wrong) so these folks that were making $800-$900 dollars a paycheck are not going to be able to make it!
But is anyone going to bail them out?
Get your standing shoes, I think we'll be in breadlines very soon!

Shutting up voices of dissent...
have you not watched any of the major news outlets? I heard plenty of dissenting. I heard plenty of inneundo, like we do in every administration. The reason you heard about it when Clinton was in office was because he could not keep his hands off women, and when caught not being able to keep his hands off women, lied until the DNA on the black dress proved him to be a liar. Not even close to same thing. If Clinton had behaved himself there would have been nothing to talk about. He could have stopped it all had he just told the truth because his party would have protected him, but no, he lied until the DNA got him.
OH...I know dealerships are suffering.
My husband is the general manager of a Chevorlet dealership and it isn't pretty. We built a brand new house 2-3 years ago when the economy was booming and now we are sweating it out wondering how long these dealerships can actually stay alive with the way things are. If my husband loses his job, I'm not sure what he will do. He has always worked in a dealership. Things are really scary for us right now. We aren't behind in anything but if his dealership should close or he lose his job.....we could potentially be in some deep sh!t.
Thankfully his dealership isn't losing money. They either make a little or at least break even. The dealerships that survive this will be in a good position when and if the economy starts up again because there won't be as much competition, etc. So we are hoping his dealership makes it through this and we are hoping they can just keep plugging along and breaking even.
However, my brother works in a plant and has three kids and a wife to support and I really don't know how much longer his job will be there. Then what is he to do. He never overextended himself. He always pays his bills. What will happen if he loses his job. It is just scary as crap out there.
The car dealerships are closing every day. SM
Mervyn's, a long-time, great dept. store, is gone. Soon Circuit City will be history, if it's not already. Construction work has dried up. With the drought, farm work has, too - even the Mexicans are leaving. Food prices skyrocketing. Lots of empty business offices from a few years back when the tech-bubble burst. Even Starbucks stores are closing. (Maybe putting one on EVERY street-corner wasn't such a great idea, after all.) People moving out of all the foreclosed homes have driven rent-prices sky-high. Animal shelters filled to overflowing by animals left behind in foreclosed homes. All we need now is another big 7.1 earthquake. That's probably next.
Other than that, things are great out here.
