no compassion
No, it is give to those who are LESS FORTUNATE than you are.
Not all who are rich have worked hard for it, some were just LUCKY or INHERITED it.
compassion
i am anti-abortion, but i look to those among us who have forgiven people who have murdered their loved ones as my example. i was taught that God is a God of justice AND mercy - so it is possible for us to require justice for wrongdoing, and, at the same time, mourn for and forgive that person even as they sit in jail rightfully punished and/or executed for 'shedding innocent blood'. i am reminded of the verses of Matthew 6:14/15, which comes right after the "the Lord's prayer" - For if ye forive men their trespases, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Heavy, difficult stuff, just like matthew 7:1/2 (and the several following verses that build upon this idea, right up until the marvelous 21st-23rd verses)-
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judement ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

yes, we, all - men and women, should keep our pants zipped up and not show anyone what we would not show our grandmothers before we get married, but we are human and frail. you are fortunate to have such support in your family and in your life that no danger has befallen you. i wish that blessing upon all.
Sounds like you have compassion for everyone!
xx
compassion is standing up

for the wronged and the weak.  Your constant assaults on the truth deserve no compassion.  We are standing up for the truth which will lead us out of the current darkness that has descended upon our country.  As soon as the scoundrels are ejected, hopefully the veil will be lifted.  Until then, we will yank out the roots of deception before it can take root and grow and spread.

No, your lack of compassion upsets me. sm
You need to think about THAT.
You aren't aware of what compassion is.
It includes responding IMMEDIATELY to those in need. It includes a leader who makes RESPONSIBLE appointments to vital public posts (not lazy college drinking buddies who used to run horse associations). How carelessly you toss out accusations of taking political advantage while the leader you support carefully selects two black victims to hug on camera (the prettier the better)far from the stark reality of the war zone he helped create a few miles away. Or, stand in an airplane hangar trying desperately to smother his yawns while fauning public officials brief him on camera and tell him how well things are going, while badly needed helicopters are sitting uselessly behind him for impressive props. Political advantage? - Bush a la Rove has NEVER missed a single opportunity to take political advantage in every way possible, up to and including the death of every 9/11 victim, despite the fact that the victims' families are in no way satisfied with his bogus hand-picked impartial commission's findings. Please! You're just bitter because nobody likes your man anymore. The fact that he has royally screwed up not just this time but ALL ALONG is his fault, not ours. We're just pointing it out.
Total lack of compassion
I wanted to like this woman, and I did for approximately the first 48 hours after she was named as Sen. McCain's running mate. Then I heard from a close friend whose sister teaches high school Spanish in the small Alaskan town SP was mayor of. SP's son, the one who is about to be deployed overseas, was her student a few years ago and allegedly not a high-achieving one. My friend's sister said he was disrespectful and acted like he thought he was better than everyone else, and when it came time for the parent-teacher conference SP blamed his failing grades on her.

Okay, so this is one person's biased description and I didn't pay a lot of attention to it, but THEN I discovered her history regarding wildlife, ecology and "hunting," and I have to tell you this is a deal breaker for me.

What is so incredible to me is that she appears extremely caring and passionate regarding issues related to motherhood, family, child welfare and the right to life, yet she is completely void of emotion or sensitivity towards "lesser" forms of life. I don't care that she's a lifetime member of the NRA or even that she's a hunter, but she has a frightening and callous history in terms of wielding her legal power to exploit, maim and destroy wildlife and their natural habitats.

I'm so disgusted and disillusioned by all the political BS and hype coming from every direction that I can honestly say I don't plan to vote in the coming election.
You assume a lack of compassion....
but your snotty self-righteous attitude speaks for itself. Get over it.
Yeah....liberal compassion. I see a LOT of that on this board....
laughable. But again, skirted entirely around the issue.
911 and Katrina victims don't deserve compassion?
Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise.  That means he must be the perfect pub.  Get a grip.  The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there.

Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise.  That means he must be the perfect pub.  Get a grip.  The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there, which is the why, by the way, he got kicked off CNN.  Hopefully Lou Dobbs will be next.
He tells the truth. has guts. Shows compassion

Compassion is one thing......long-term handouts
In the case of New Orleans, the majority of those do not want a help up,they want what they had known prior to Katrina, a monthly hand out!

When the greatest majority of those folks are STILL without jobs, it is because they do not want a job. They didn't have jobs before and they certainly do not feel they should find one now.
Phhtt! LOL - compassion for a guy who sniggers and mocks a woman he's about to execute?
That ought to be asking a little too much of a decent human being, don't you think? How many convicts on death row do you have compassion for, before you go demanding sympathy for your boy?
Jon, our voice
Isn't it amazing the length that people that have such closed minds will go to, a matter of loss of control.
another voice from
the "you are on your own party" that the next prez, Barack, talked about in his wonderful acceptance speech.
In the voice of........

Rodney King "why can't we all just get along." Name-calling serves no purpose. Can't we just refer to ourselves as Americans. Can we agree to disagree? I see a bright future. I am sorry your future is so dark and meaningless.

So because you don't like her voice and demeanor? (sm)
You aren't voting for your high school class president, or best personality for your year book. You need to base your decision on facts.
that voice is like a needle in the eye!...

Aw, the voice of wisdom.

Thank you - the voice of reason (nm)

no, it's not about Voice recognition, it's about
using medical computerized charts and "check boxes" if you will... cutting out the work of the MT by using generic charts and filling in information... at least where i come from
I am all for EMR, just not voice recognition -
EMR is just a way of keeping up with your records and not having all the paper at a bunch of different doctor's office.

Voice recognition on the other hand is what is killing our profession. Of course, the hospital I just left implemented voice recognition the week I left and the feedback from my ex-coworkers so far is that the Transcriptionist hate the system, the doctors hate the system, and they are already thinking about having to change it --- and they actually only bought the initial license for 10 of the 200 doctors to use the voice (and they put the good American doctors in that 10, of course).

I don't think that transcription will totally be replaced by computers in my lifetime at least, but I do think as technology advances, transcription will face even more changes.

We all have to keep in mind that typing these reports is based on an antiquated concept and that as the doctors are getting younger and younger, it means they have grown up using all this new technology that our older doctors did not have and are resistant to.

Like it or not, Obama or not, times are achangin'!
Thanks Dem for the lone sane voice here
Thanks for affirming that the *genocide* comment was was WAYYY off base. There is a difference between you and the far leftists here, and the gap widens between the two on a daily basis.

Ann Coulter is a very vocal (sometimes over vocal) conservative. Many of us don't always agree with her approach or tactics. However, Ann says what she feels, and her free speech is as protected as anyone elses. Now, when Michael Moore says the same things in the same way and in the same style he's lauded here. So, to say that people like Ann are uniquely on the right is completely untruthful.

Ann is out to make money, of course! So is Michael Moore, and to a large extent so are the 9/11 widows. I don't minimize their loss, but I think exploiting their husband's memory for money politics, and 15 minutes of fame is pretty low.

Jewish Voice For Peace
It is Jewish Voice For Peace.Org, not Jewish Voices For Peace as I previously posted.  Sorry.
Another voice in Utah last week.

This is quite long but if you just read the the last lines, the no mores, it will move you. While our **leaders** were out there borrowing rhetoric from WWII and not from the good guys either, the mayor of Salt Lake City had some words of his own to share.

I have not been on the boards much lately because I just don't know what to say. There is so much that is so wrong that I am completely overwhelmed, so much death, so much torture, so much pain, so much greed, so much **depraved indifference***, so much deceit and on and on and on.   I am grateful there are still those who can put words together and produce a piece of coherent outrage. The mayor of Salt Lake is one of them.

Piglet, thank you for your voice of reason
It's very refreshing. Thanks again...
AAMT was supposed to be our voice
in Washington. I finally dropped my membership in disgust at their lack of action. All I saw them do was puff themselves up, making up all sorts of education and standards wish lists that have never been applied to the field which certainly would have helped keep work on shore and our wages more in line with our knowledge and services to the medical community.
More like a voice of scare tactics.

A voice of reason and balance.

THANK YOU!! Finally, a voice of reason!
My head has been spinning so much over the abc comment about not starting to live until after the fourth month, or whatever it was she said, that I was just too baffled to address this. And then going on in another post about a life is a life when talking about a frog and a ferret . . . apparently totally missing the point of that post.

I believe, however, that a lot of abortions occur because the male involved does not want a child. I am not sticking up, necessarily, for the females who still have this done, but, IMHO, we STILL live in a male-dominated world and that is a huge reason for why this has become legal. I think that oftentimes it is young, scared GIRLS who subject themselves and their fetuses to this, in order to please their "man". I think that in many cases, if the female in question felt that she would have support, either from the father or from her family, she might make a different choice. Not excusing it, just saying . . . IMHO. Heck, I've seen it, and more than once.
The MSM has been a liberal political voice for years
what's the beef about. What does freedom of the press have to do with foreign countries? That argument withstanding the military has published articles for years in foreign newspapers. It happened after WWII and wars previous and subsequent to that, but just because this administration is doing it it's all of the sudden a problem.
Thank you...nice to have a second voice crying out in the wilderness...
just put on your kevlar and come right on in. :)
Do not patronize. Bristol has no real voice here.
She, her baby and her husband be living their private lives out on the alter of sacrifice for the sake of SP, regardless of how the news got out there. It's out now and mom's ambitions played just as much role in this tragedy as any rumor factory you will repeatedly try to use as a scapegoat. No need to beat this dead horse and repeat youself a thousand times tonight. The media will not show restraint and the internet, even less. We will all have our bellies full of this as the convention grinds on. One thing is certain, Palin just rained on her own parade.
I cannot STAND to listen to that woman's voice!
Any one else feel this way about Palin?  She irks me.
Right on - another voice of reason and truth (no message)
x
the voice of reason! completely true. nm

Yeah, and you're ALWAYS the voice of reason
Oh brother!
Bravo!!!!

Your post was wonderful, articulate and right on target.

They haven't been able to bait people on their own board recently and hurl their venom, but they need their "fix," so they come here instead and try to start trouble.  I agree that you shouldn't respond to them any more.  Why give them what they want?

Bravo!

Thank you for such an eloquent post.

Have you ever noticed the disconnect between those who are in favor of Bush?  The richest of the rich and those who are very highly educated and then those who aren't so rich and educated, with all the rest of us in the middle.  The richest of the rich don't have to worry about Roe because if it's gone, they can afford to go to another part of the world.

And our country absolutely does not deserve the autocratic theocratic government that has been forced upon us.  One of the wonderful things about America is diversity of religious beliefs. What really frightens me about all this is that the war on terror is quickly becoming a "Christian versus Muslim" war.  Tom Tancredo from Colorado recently suggested boming mosques.  If we choose to turn this into a religious war, we are diminishing the importance of it and diminishing our country as a whole, regardless of faith, to bond together and be united against the war on terror.

As far as the shoe being on the other foot, from what I've personally witnessed by some of these people, they feel the shoe has been on the other foot for years, that they've been ignored, and now is their turn to take control.  They typically blame minorities and women for taking all the "men's jobs," blame the "liberal mainstream media" for virtually everything, and are suddenly feeling empowered after they felt beaten down over past years of tolerance and reasonableness, when they couldn't impose their prejudices and anger and religion on the rest of the country.  It's as if a smoldering volcano has erupted, and they are spewing out all the negative things that have been keeping inside in all these years past when fairness prevailed in this country.  They don't want to be just one of many religions in this country.  They want to be the only one that counts, the one that they can write laws to revolve around.

They want to end Roe.  They are against any contraception products that go against "the will of God."  They want to control what happens in your home, in your family, in your bedroom.  They want to control what you see on television.  They want to control who you love, whether or not it's legal for you to love who you love.  They want to take science backwards in the name of "God" and prevent stem cell research that might save the lives of their parents, sisters, brothers, and/or children who are already here. They holler and scream at and actually kill those who respect a woman's right to choose. They put more value on a petrie dish full of inanimate cells than they do on people who are already born, but you never hear them even whimper a word of disdain when children in our country are being molested and murdered on what seems like a weekly basis during this year alone. They want to control when you're born and when and how you die.

In short, they want to control not just the lives but the very SOULS of every single person in this country, and they detest anyone who disagrees with them.

You're right: 51% is no mandate, and after the 2000 selection, there are still some who aren't sure that Bush actually won in 2004.  They don't even realize that Bush is really on the side of the rich and not on their side.  They continue to defend and justify every action of Bush and those in his administration, whether it's actually something that defendable or justifiable or not –- such as entering into a bogus war based on lies and/or exposing the identity of a CIA agent working on WMD (in a time of war), both done purely for personal reasons and never really caring what's best for this country.

They sqawk about a lack of morals in this country, yet they don't think it's immoral for Bush to exploit the tragedy of 9/11 in order to scare the American public into agreeing to a war that Bush came into office with the intention of waging, long before 9/11 happened.  He lied to Congress, and he lied to the American people.  That's about the most immoral thing I've ever seen a president do. I never thought a President could actually make Nixon look GOOD, but Bush has done that 1,000 times over.

IMHO, we're heading down a very dangerous road in this country, and I hope America wakes up before it's too late.

Bravo!

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the vile increase in gas prices, which will also result in much higher heating costs this winter for many people.  That's an increased cost experienced by most Americans, which also effectively cuts their net income.  The rich, who keep getting richer under Bush, will easily be able to absorb that cost.  As usual, it's the poor and dwindling middle class who will suffer.

I wonder how many Bushies are now living near or at the poverty level and don't even realize it, as they continue to beat the Bush drum louder and louder.

Bravo
I do not mind in the least. I got a bit carried away, but if anyone can send me over the the top, it is Michael Moore. Sigh. lol.
Bravo! I second that!

BRAVO!

Great post!!!  These are exactly the same reasons I voted for him.

When I look back on how Obama ran his campaign versus how John "Chicken-With-Its-Head-Cut-Off" McCain ran his, there was no question in my mind that if Obama can run the country only 1/100th as well as he ran his campaign, then there is great hope for this wonderful country.

Bravo
Articulate and intelligent. Something this board is sadly lacking.
