I, too, feel this is one of the most important events of my life. It speaks volumes that such an intelligent, eloquent, biracial man was elected to the highest office of this country. For the first time, in a long time, I am proud to be an American. I live in a very mixed area and the curtain has fallen - even before the election. I no longer sense people of other race putting their guard up in normal discourse. How liberating!!! I am so grateful to President-elect Obama for all of the good he has done already that is so monumentally evident where I live. I truly believe we can all work together to heal the wounds and repair the planet. I have such high hope!

But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks "while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist."

After watching the malicious speeches the other night mocking Senator Obama, and by proxy, cynically attacking all of us who support our local communities, I thought it would be prudent to educate the Republican Party on the historical role of community organizers. For a quick reminder, let's recap Giuliani's snark: He worked as a community organizer. (Laughter) What?...Barack Obama has never led anything, nothing, nada. And Palin's vacuous follow-up: This world of threats and dangers, it's not just a community and it doesn't just need an organizer. (Laughter.) That these bastions of the GOP would denigrate the importance of community organizers on the same night their party nominates its first female vice presidential candidate shows an utter disrespect for the people of this country and a laughable ignorance of the power we wield. I was reading recently about a conference in Washington by conservative Jews, Ben Stein being among them, and a lot of others, including many Rabbis, who are distressed at the pro-abortion stance of some Jews, including the partial birth abortion stance. Not all Jews believe the same, just as not all Christians do. According to the Mishnah (Sanhedrin 4:5): Whoever destroys one life is as if he destroyed a whole world, and whoever preserves a life is as if he preserved the whole world. This was quoted at the conference. No one person speaks for all. Thank God.

here's a girl after my own heart. I have
done my share of camping in the winter inside the house, too. We will probably have a cold winter, we usually do after a hurricane. I had whiskey barrel planters outside that had filled with water and never got any plants put in them and they froze solid that winter; I am 20 miles off the coast. My girlfriend went "skating" on the stock pond that winter and broke through the ice. She says her feet have been cold ever since. Looks like I will be spot heating again this winter, just where I happen to be in sweats and sweaters and an electric blanket or small heater. My son is a train engineer and he tried to tell the boys at the coal plant what would happen, but they were dems and their daddies were dems, etc., and oh, the ripple effect that is coming.

I did find the US Code on another site. I don't know why it won't pull up on the US Code search. However, the fact is that the whole issue in the original post was regarding Obama's appearance on "Meet the Press" September 7, 2008. He has not been on there in months and the supposed author of the article does not appear to be a real person, certainly not a writer for The Washington Post, or googling his name would have pulled up an abundance of articles he had written.
