True to their newest stand, right wing blogger smears family of murdered soldier.
Predictably, falling right in line with Tony Snow and his *2,500 is a number* statement on June 15, followed one day later by the fiercely *patriotic* Rush *I'dLoveToServeMyCountryButCan'tBecauseOfThisPimpleOnMyButt* Limbaugh, reminding them that aborted fetuses are more important than murdered American soldiers (as was posted on the *other* board on June 16), all the while publicly declaring that all liberals who post on this board don't care about our troops. *Profound* indeed.

The Horse's Mouth A blog about the reporting of politics -- and the politics of reporting. By Greg Sargent

WINGNUT JOHN HINDERAKER SMEARS DEAD SOLDIER'S UNCLE. A couple of minutes ago I came across this Associated Press story saying that the uncle of Kristian Menchaca -- one of the U.S. soldiers who was missing and is now said to be dead -- criticized the United States for Menchaca's disappearance and death. My first thought was to do a post asking how long it would take before the wingnuts started smearing the grief-stricken uncle.
Alas, I'm too late. Over at Powerline Blog, John Hinderaker has already cranked up the slime machine and let fly:
In a sick coda, Menchaca's uncle, Ken MacKenzie, appeared on the Today show and recited weirdly inapplicable Democratic Party talking points in relation to his own nephew's death...No shame.
I've asked this before, but what is it about the relatives of people killed by terrorists that these wingnuts hate so much? Recall that Ann Coulter smeared the widows of 9/11 victims and that many righty bloggers smeared the father of Nick Berg, who was beheaded in Iraq. Their sin, of course, was that they criticized America and George Bush.
Let me put this as clearly as I can: To the likes of Hinderaker, the pain of those who lost loved ones to this war only matters to the extent that the bereaved allow their grief to be used to prop up the war effort and Bush himself. If the bereaved relatives don't allow their grief to be used in this fashion, their sacrifice and loss no longer matter a whit -- they're not to be pitied or empathized with, but scorned and humiliated as brutally as possible. Despicable.

you mean left wing....it's a left wing ding website on the messiah....the right wouldn't bothe
Personally, your response is one of my fears too...that...
the left doesn't/can't/won't/refuses to recognize the real threats in the world. Simply amazing.
We'll keep keeping you safe, though. Just because you refute it, doesn't mean it isn't there.
You are expressing a lof of our concerns and fears
The dems won't even tell us where they are going to get the money from. They should do the math, Obama promises that middle income will not be taxed any more. Right, that's exactly like when Clinton promised during his campaign he would not increas middle income takes and within days after getting into the white house he not only didn't keep his promise but he gave the middle income the largest tax increase since who knows when. So why should I believe Obama? Especially since his voting record shows that he voted to increase taxes.
This is not a hateful post. It is a true fear that a lot of us have. You CANNOT redistribute the wealth and give to the poor who aren't doing anything to deserve it. For all those liberals who are for this type of program please send in your name and address so you can pay my share since you believe its okay. I don't! I work very hard for what I have. I'm already working 14 hours a day and I still hardly have enough money to pay bills, let alone save anything for a retirement. Why should they take more from me.
People need to be held responsible for themselves. If they need charity, that is what the churches are suppose to be for, and other organizations that help the poor. The people need to pick up some skills so they can get out in society and earn a living like the rest of us do.
For all the conservatives out there you need to keep expressing your opinions and fears. People need to be aware of what this Obama is and what his socialist programs will turn America into. This is not the America that our founding fathers fought for. Socialists have infiltrated the system, written laws that protect them and screw us, all the while telling you that you need to feel patriotic about getting screwed. Conservatives need to stand up for what's right and not be bullied by the liberals anymore.
I disagree, What haveYOUR fears to do with IObama?
To you I can only say:
One fears most what one does not UNDERSTAND.
Why do you blame Obama for YOUR fears? How can you say that his 'promise of transparency went up in a wisp of smoke?'
Or are you afraid of the situation the world is in right now and blame all all on Obama?
Believe it or not, even Obama has to adhere to 'top secret material.'
Fears of Brutal Outcome In Iran Conflict Rise
More at the below link:
"Reporters Without Borders said 20 journalists were arrested over the past week. The BBC said today that its Tehran-based correspondent, Jon Leyne, had been asked to leave the country. The BBC said its office remained open.
Today, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki held a news conference where he rebuked Britain, France and Germany for raising questions about reports of voting irregularities in hardline Mr Ahmadinejad's re-election - a proclaimed victory which has touched off Iran's most serious internal conflict since the revolution.
Mr Mottaki accused France of taking "treacherous and unjust approaches". But he saved his most pointed criticism for Britain, raising a litany of historical grievances and accusing the country of flying intelligence agents into Iran before the election to interfere with the vote. The election, he insisted, was a "very transparent competition".
That drew an indignant response from Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who "categorically" denied Britain was meddling. "This can only damage Iran's standing in the eyes of the world," Mr Miliband said.
An eerie calm settled over the streets of Tehran today as state media reported at least 10 more deaths in post-election unrest and said authorities arrested the daughter and four other relatives of ex-President Hashemi Rafsanjani, one of Iran's most powerful men.
The reports brought the official death toll for a week of boisterous confrontations to at least 17. State television inside Iran said 10 were killed and 100 injured in clashes yesterday between demonstrators and black-clad police wielding truncheons, tear gas and water cannons. "

How patriotic of them -nm

Be Patriotic
So I hope everybody out there is buying bonds and drinking their Pepsi, because it really makes a difference. Oh, and GM is in trouble too, so don't forget to buy a car too. Our rich people are depending on us or they are going to fire our neighbor, and we will end up feeding him anyway.
Not saying he not patriotic. I just thought it was,,,sm
an interesting fact after all of the hullabaloo over the last few weeks. I happen to be one who does not think wearing a pin is a sign of patriotism.
I am patriotic. I look at both sides.
It's certain people that refuse to look at the PRESENT ISSUES, not the PAST. I am all for O doing the right things, but right now, it looks like business as usual with the exception of his cabinet picks and this stimulus package.
Sticking to the issues is one thing. Calling some unpatriotic just because they don't agree with you is another.
saw that on the news today. How patriotic of them,

I don't wear a flag pin, and I'm patriotic.

Yes I have. I repeat, he is a patriotic American first..sm
I also think that McCain is a patriotic American and have no desire to stomp on him and drag him through the mud just because he is not what I want for president.
He said it was patriotic for the rich to pay more taxes -
I can hardly disagree with him. The rich of the United States are not sending their children to war to die, they don't get dirty when the country needs it, what is wrong with asking them to contribute something more?
For me, being patriotic means standing up for your

Nobody cares who you voted for, you bash Obama now and that is not patriotic

Bush lied and our brave patriotic soldiers died..PERIOD
Of course Bush lied about WMD and the threat of Iraq..He needed a reason to invade Iraq..If you would do some research you would find many papers that document meetings between Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle and others who devised a way to take over the Middle East in the 1990's..all they needed was a way to present it to the American people, as we would not allow our children to die for no reason. With 9/11, they got the reason and tried to tie up 9/11 with Iraq..I, frankly, think they also had a hand in 9/11..For any who poo poo this..I ask you to do some surfing on the Northwoods Operation..same kind of thing, only in the 1960's..Let a few CIA Hispanic/Cuban operatives invade a few curise ships on Floridas coast, kill a few Americans and we would definitely agree to invading Cuba and killing Casto..Our govt did not agree to it, however, 9/11 seems to me like an updated plan..there are many who also wonder was this an inside job..
If customary deference to a sitting president by president elect
for the rest of us who understand such concepts as respect and traditional protocol, it would qualify as a darned good reason.
right-wing rags
By right-wing rags I mean publications and internet souces. the complaint was simply that you use these sources as the unassailable factual basis for your claims. My point, as well as several other posters in the past, was that you need to use less partisan sources for the "truths" that you post on this board.
Re: Right-Wing posters - sm
Not all of us are 'all for this pay-my-mortgage idea.'
I'm a conservative Republican and I think it's baloney that people who greedily signed their lives away to buy houses they couldn't afford should get a hand out. Their hand out came when they were allowed to ATTEMPT to pay the mortage they contractually agreed to. If they blew it, tough luck. No hand outs for irresponsible behavior.
I agree that if Uncle Sam wants to cut people checks for 75K, it should be for ALL Americans. And I'd be a danged site more resonsible with that money that these greedy homeowner-overreachers would have been.
Yes. Every bit as screwed up as right-wing

It is a right-wing blog, sam.
Aren't you the one who always complained about people posting information from blogs? Aren't you the one who dismissed anything posted from blogs as being irrelevant? Can you spell hypocrisy?
Yes she is! These right wing nut cases

But Democrat, the NYT is left wing. NM
Oh? All I can find is some right-wing OPINION

Show me something factual.
Well here are some thoughts for the right wing bigmouths

The left wing media...
has never been shut up. You aren't seriously saying they are, are you? You are kidding, right? I am not being tacky, I am just incredulous that anyone would suggest that the left-wing media's voice could be squelched. Sorry...but that is really funny.
A no brainer for the right-wing fringe.

Right wing fringe endorsements. Ask the

you mean left-wing Nazi's
You know the ones who don't want you to post an opinion if it's something bad about Obama. The ones who will trash Palin for no reason, then when you defend your position you get trashed as well. The ones who spread rumors about McCain/Palin but provide no proof, yet when you submit proof of Obama's shady past your called evil and other things. This happened back in the times of Hitler and some of the democrats are doing it again.
I'm getting really sick of this. I never knew there were so many hateful people who will only respect your opinion if it is the same as theirs.
Looks like the right-wing group is getting a little testy! (nm)

Not a right wing wacko, just supposing what...sm
might have been if McCain had continued his status as a maverick middle-of-the road republican, like CP, instead of caving to the right wing of the party. He probably would not have agreed to run as McCain's VP, but it would have made JM's run more credible. Not that McCain would have asked him either.
You are definitely not a right-wing wacko, oldtimer!
I was not referring to anyone in particular as a right-wing wacko, especially you. In fact, I find your posts to be very thoughtful and intelligent.
Are you what they call a far left-wing
.
Majority of 2. Why not organize a new wing
after November, they're going to need some new blood, new direction and a platform makeover.
Well, I'm not right-wing but you're right, Obama

FOX NEWS is LEFT WING?
OMG! You're kidding, right??????
Rediculous .....right wing resources
WorldNetDaily is a for-profit website that provides primarily evangelical-conservative-oriented news and editorials, publishes letters to the editor, maintains forums and conducts a daily poll.

Conservative Right Wing Republicans
Conservative far right wing republicans make up 25% of the population of the United States of America. They had eight years to rule and now their time is over. I understand how confusing this is that your views and aspirations were not fullfilled or appreciated to be elected for another 4 years. But when you think of the improbability that the views of 25% of the people were represented by the highest office in the world..... really that in and of itself is a miracle and I don't think you fully appreciate how that was a once in a lifetime event.
Now that is novel, a kookie left wing!!!!
Typical right-wing intelligence.
.
That's right, JBB...right wing nut jobs blindly
Let them keep blindly following faux news. They think they are patriots? The rest of the country (and the world) think they are JOKES!
The left wing conspiracy...Hehe!

Yes, this is sad. But hardly the core of *right wing* values. Puleeze. nm
.
I was thinking too, that the right wing version of Christianity...sm
does not necessary practice much *tolerance* much less acceptance or embracing of other religions and/or cultures itself. They should expect to get as good as they give.
