I'm so happy that Barack Obama won Iowa that I just twirled circles in my living room like a child! I know there are no guarantees, but I just have such a hopeful feeling right now and I'm enjoying that feeling! For months I have been telling anyone who would listen why I am such a strong supporter of Obama's.
What do you all think about Huckabee winning Iowa? I confess that I don't know much about him (or any of the Republican hopefuls), but you can bet I'll be researching him now that he seems to be the front runner, although honestly I believe chances are VERY slim of a Republican candidate winning the next presidential election!

It's one of the most significant moments in the history of our country and so many people are coming together to share in the celebration, you won't be missed.

If you want to talk about predjudice, talk about the old folks who can't afford to marry. I forget why that is but I think of our local post mistress who couldn't afford to marry her significant other, I forget what she stood to lose if she married but they lived together for 20 some years and as a Christian, she lamented the fact that they couldn't afford to marry often. She died a few weeks ago and the guy who was her partner and there for her all the years she suffered with MS and other medical issues, was listed in her obit as being survived by her children and her "special friend." THAT is sad.
as a mother I would not subject my baby, or anyone's baby
to that type of situation. but then again, I am not the kind of mother who agrees with the village raising the child, or whatever Hillary used to say. to me the child's safety would come first above and beyond what I was doing, and I would not expose the baby to all that. that is just me.
mostly I am talking about at the end of her speech when the baby was being passed around and then she eventually grabbed him, half paying attention to him.
it is my opinion but I found it a little troubling and my heart kind of went out to that little baby.

It's a political discussion board, and yeah, it gets messy -- hence, the warning at the top of the board. I come here for political discussion, not drama. Take a look at her prolonged farewell address above. It speaks volumes. She is absolutely correct in saying she has supported both sides and in the middle. That's not a political discussion, that's a beauty pageant contest. I'm about sick and tired of her "flavor of the day politics" and calling me out personally about "bashing" and then turns around and does the exact same thing, or worse.
But hey, this isn't bashing, "I am just talking about a specific person whom I personally think is over the top."

will soon be tears of anger and frustration when you come to realize that O is not your Messiah, your hope or your future. He is just a man who has taken on much more than he realizes. He will be tested and will fail due to his lack of experience and courage. He is just a shill for the Clintons, who apparently he owes quite a lot to seeing how he is recycling Clinton cabinet members and friends. So much for hope and change; you can't pay your bills or build back your 401(k) on either one. The money wasted on such an elaborate inauguration is beyond me when the economy is in such turmoil. I am going to sit back and watch as it all slowly implodes and the sheeple finally see the wolf who is leading them right where he wants them, starry-eyed, ignorant and dumbed down.

What MY Eyes see s/m
I'm about sick to death of every social ill being laid at the feet of smokers. I also have a big problem with lazy slobs who would rather mooch off the taxpayers than work but if they choose to spend their welfare on tobacco....or gambling....as many in this particular area do and go without food, that's their problem. Welfare is way out of hand. There is something wrong with the law that lets slobs get help they don't need and some elderly or truly diabled person can't qualify for any help because they have worked hard and have a few dollars in the bank. As far as I am concerned there was nothing wrong with the commodities that were issued instead of food stamps before the "new and improved" welfare program. Then they got what they needed to keep them alive and that was about it. So who changed the rules to allow the slobs to be able to buy all the good stuff while you have to skimp? You got it...politicians, Democrats AND Republicans.
If you're looking to either of these 2 candidates to change ANYTHING that will make it easier for you, or people like you, I think you're in for a real disappointment.

We have Muslim people in our church. They will be the first to tell you that are so glad to be out of the country where this is forced upon them. They will be the first to tell you the Q'ran does not speak of love one another, only love another Muslim. They will be the first to tell you that Westerners do not really know the full extent of the hatred that is taught to the men/sons. They will be the first to tell you they are so glad they learned there is really a God that says to love ALL, love your family members even if they are non-believers, and to love those that hate you. Islam does not teach that. You can yack on and on all you want but you can't show me anything verses that say otherwise. They more than you know the Q'ran back to back and will say it does not speak of love of others and to hate all; Jews, Christians, and nonbelievers.
Sadly, why do you assume those that have denounced Islam don't know their feelings of what they have been through more than you?

1. I am not going to decide if she is beautiful or not. That is not my place.
2. I see nothing with the way that she dresses because I have a couple of my sister's kids, who believe me gives me sleepless nights with their fashion sense, but I love them and I think they are the most beautiful people I have ever seen.
3. As a woman, I look in the mirror every day and find things that if I had a good platic surgeon and money.....need I say more? (I would be the nip/tuck queen)....lol but since I do not, then I take the alternative route in believing that I am beautiful (hubby helps by telling me how beautiful I am too even though I know that I am at least 40 pounds overweight).
4. When I look at the picture the only thing that comes to mind is that "she does look healthy" and I would like to find myself in that same position.
5. I suppose it is easy to find fault with others rather than find what is beautiful in someone, but I have NEVER did like the easy way of doing things. Have a good one folks.

I am old enough to remember the 60s. This is not the 60s. This is also not the Vietnam war. This is a whole different and new set of problems (we have AL Queda, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Terrorist who want to see our country destroyed and is most likely possible they have found a way to do it. What better way than to get one of theirs to be our next president. Not to mention all the social and other issues going on today. How I wish it was the 60s again. Life seemed so simple back then (actually I wouldn't mind the 40s/50s).
There is proof Obama was "best buds" with Ayers. Haven't you been reading all the information, watched the videos, read the documentation of eye witnesses, or are you believing only what Obama says... "he was a guy who happened to be in my neighborhood". Obama is running for President. Of course he's going to say that.
Also your statement is incorrect. Ayers is NOT a respected professor (unless you believe that it was okay to do the criminal activities he did). Sure I did some things in my 20s I wouldn't want to be judged on today, but Ayers was just interviewed and he said he is not sorry and that not enough terrorist activies were committed. He also said America makes him want to throw up. Those are his feelings of today - not when he was in his 20s.
