We are already paying for other people's care through medicare and medicaid, not to mention whoever else is in whatever group insurance you have. I would say streamlining or changing that to a plan that would be more effective almost has to cost less in the long run. We haven't seen Obama's plan yet, but when he was campaigning he said he basically wanted to extend the same insurance availabe to govt empolyees to everyone, and that if you didn't want to join you had the option of keeping whatever insurance you currently have. We'll have to see how that turns out.
