WARNING about opening links some
got a nice, nasty worm on my computer for my trouble. Attacking verbally is one thing, but attacking people's computers is pretty low. That poster better hope like he!! her employer doesn't get that same worm from her.
BEWARE of opening links supplied
You don't get the virus/worm from this page, or opening the post; you get it if you cut and paste the link, and then open it in your browser to read whatever information it's said to contain. The virus probably originated from the person (or creature...) that created it, knowing it would be spread by political forums during a very heated election campaign.
Thanks for your eye opening post
Your post tells it all, you are directing hatred towards me..and you are supposed to be a good xtian. You are hypocritical like the bunch of radical rabid ring wingers. Hatred towards me, a poster on a tiny political board. You come across as mentally ill by your inability to post a normal post..
Any opening to post a resume! sm
I just could not resist that.
An opening statement by Bush today....sm
Seems to me, he is talking about himself again.
For too long, the culture of corruption has undercut development and good governance and bred criminality and mistrust around the world. High-level corruption by senior government officials, or kleptocracy, is a grave and corrosive abuse of power and represents the most invidious type of public corruption. It threatens our national interest and violates our values.

Hellooo...he means opening markets so that...
items produced here by American workers find a market overseas. That is so our jobs can stay here.
Before opening mouth - engage brain.
You're calling Palin an "under-educated butt?"
And your great accompishment is that you know how to type on a message board? What a maroon!
Please feel free to exit the country when McCain/Palin win. You and your tiny little mind will not be missed.
here's a link to written text -eye opening
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/16075/
P.S. - until you stop ridiculing I will not even be opening your posts.
Now the first thing I look at is who is posting, then I read the subject line, then if of interest I open and read the message. You, Patty, Bridger, Kendra, Aunt Louise, and others are the most offensive and the rudest posters there are. I read none of what you all have to say. Saves on the "frustration nerve". Maybe when you start coming back and having adult conversations and agree that we can all disagree but it doesn't give us free reign to ridicule others then I might consider reading a post, but I doubt that will ever happen.
Homeland Security opening private mail

Homeland Security opening private mail Retired professor confused, angered when letter from abroad is opened
By Brock N. Meeks
Chief Washington correspondent
MSNBC
Updated: 5:55 p.m. ET Jan. 6, 2006
WASHINGTON - In the 50 years that Grant Goodman has known and corresponded with a colleague in the Philippines he never had any reason to suspect that their friendship was anything but spectacularly ordinary.
But now he believes that the relationship has somehow sparked the interest of the Department of Homeland Security and led the agency to place him under surveillance.
Last month Goodman, an 81-year-old retired University of Kansas history professor, received a letter from his friend in the Philippines that had been opened and resealed with a strip of dark green tape bearing the words “by Border Protection” and carrying the official Homeland Security seal.
“I had no idea (Homeland Security) would open personal letters,” Goodman told MSNBC.com in a phone interview. “That’s why I alerted the media. I thought it should be known publicly that this is going on,” he said. Goodman originally showed the letter to his own local newspaper, the Kansas-based Lawrence Journal-World.
“I was shocked and there was a certain degree of disbelief in the beginning,” Goodman said when he noticed the letter had been tampered with, adding that he felt his privacy had been invaded. “I think I must be under some kind of surveillance.”
Goodman is no stranger to mail snooping; as an officer during World War II he was responsible for reading all outgoing mail of the men in his command and censoring any passages that might provide clues as to his unit’s position. “But we didn’t do it as clumsily as they’ve done it, I can tell you that,” Goodman noted, with no small amount of irony in his voice. “Isn’t it funny that this doesn’t appear to be any kind of surreptitious effort here,” he said.
The letter comes from a retired Filipino history professor; Goodman declined to identify her. And although the Philippines is on the U.S. government’s radar screen as a potential spawning ground for Muslim-related terrorism, Goodman said his friend is a devout Catholic and not given to supporting such causes.
A spokesman for the Customs and Border Protection division said he couldn’t speak directly to Goodman’s case but acknowledged that the agency can, will and does open mail coming to U.S. citizens that originates from a foreign country whenever it’s deemed necessary.
“All mail originating outside the United States Customs territory that is to be delivered inside the U.S. Customs territory is subject to Customs examination,” says the CBP Web site. That includes personal correspondence. “All mail means ‘all mail,’” said John Mohan, a CBP spokesman, emphasizing the point.
“This process isn’t something we’re trying to hide,” Mohan said, noting the wording on the agency’s Web site. “We’ve had this authority since before the Department of Homeland Security was created,” Mohan said.
However, Mohan declined to outline what criteria are used to determine when a piece of personal correspondence should be opened, but said, “obviously it’s a security-related criteria.”
Mohan also declined to say how often or in what volume CBP might be opening mail. “All I can really say is that Customs and Border Protection does undertake [opening mail] when it is determined to be necessary,” he said.

thanks for the links
I will check them out after finishing my IC work!
I am still an IC and I don't know why my taxes are high, I have been doing it for over 10 years, but I have an accountant do them, and I pay quarterly's yes I do... I still always end up paying at the end of the year even if I try to calculate it correctly because of deductions I thought I had, etc. The only thing that changed in my personal life was two years ago I bought a house. Did that cover the questions?
I just don't trust either politician, but align myself with the Republican values more strongly.
Thanks for the links....sm
...but this was the year after she was no longer the mayor of Wasilla, and three years before she became governor, so she was not in office in 2003. I notice they don't even try to link her name to this. I'm sure they would have, if they could have.
Anyway, sure doesn't excuse the drug problem in the communities, though. I still don't like it one bit.

I do not understand why so many links are put on this board?
On a blog forum one should put one's own opinion, not what is posted on the internet. At least one should put it in one's own words.

First off, when you have a private meeting with the president, it's private. But then parts of it were leaked to the press. Then the White house asked for a retraction of false statements made by Obama camp. Then the Obama camp retracted what they said.
There's more to it than these two stories, but these are the best I can find at the moment.

Sorry it took so long. I kept reading about his plans to keep the military over there but sure enough when I want to find the exact article I can't. Here are some articles I did find. (P.S. - I think it odd the person who is chosen for SoS position (Billiary) is the same person who said they would "obliterate Iran". Am sure that's going to go over well with them.

other than..."I heard..." Believe me, the way auto sales are falling, if they could manufacture one that ran on water and sold for $1200 they would be selling them, because $1200 is better than zero...good grief. Talk about your conspiracy theories. All the automakers are downsizing and grasping to try to sell cars and they would NOT ignore something they could build and sell cheap...simple economics 101. The Wal-mart approach to car sales, and they all know how successful wal-mart is, because all the pieties about "I only buy American" and "offshoring" fall to the wayside in favor of "cheap." All those same people who gripe about wal-mart buying overseas and supposedly mistreating their employees run over each other to get to the sales, and don't think they don't. Typical Democrat mantra...do as we say, not as we DO.
As to the car McCain offered the bounty for on the battery...he was talking about one that would replace what is in use now...not one whose top end is 30 mph and you have to charge it after an hour. Good grief, get your facts straight. :-) I am sure he meant one that would at least do 50 mph and you could drive it to the quick pick and back without having to plug it in. That being said, I did see where Toyota (on the US side) is working on technology to attach solar panels to charge batteries. Of course, that would mean leaving that sweeetttt little sports car out in the sun...ahem. Bet Teddy Kennedy won't be buying one and I bet RFK Jr. won't either...lol. Gotta love'em. DO as we SAY...not as we DO.

The words were witnessed by two McCain aides and three reporters who did not report it at the time.
If it wasn’t true there would be lawsuits (which there are not). And with him running for president you KNOW he would be denying it as he is denying other things, but he is not denying it.

Providing Links
Just because someone on this forum provides a link to prove their point does not mean that the link is truthful or valid. There are thousands of downright lies posted on the Internet each and every day, and providing a link to one of them does not prove anything. There are an abundance of right-wing fanatic links that provide lies and smear tactics, shameful racist links, and right-wing political links posted by raging lunatics. The links to provided to validate a poster's claim are a waste of time unless they come from a proven reliable news source.
The links go to a PDF of his tax returns
This is his one from 2006

They also said Obama posted his tax returns on his website but I haven't found them yet. Supposedly they were released when Hillary was still in the running.
I hate trying navigate through any of the candidate's sites! They need a search menu!

No. They don't "do" links.
If you copy and paste the entire thing, you stand about a 12% chance of them actually reading it. So here is, ironically, what you get when you click on the word "REQUIRE."
It might be too many words for some, but the bottom line is that this is a choice, NOT a REQUIREMENT.
America Serves
"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
I'll look at your links a little later..... sm
fighting the clock right now!
I realize it is illegal to fire an employee over religious beliefs. However, I would point out that in "at will" states, an employer does not need to give a reason for terminating an employee. Also, if the cashier were true to their Christian Science beliefs, I would have to wonder why they would seek employment at a store that sold antibiotics in the first place. Kind of like a Baptist working in a liquour store. We might shop there, but we wouldn't be caught dead working there! HAHAHA!!!

Let me now state that I do NOT agree with what he did, but he was a living human being. He had a wife, children and grandchildren.
Murder is never justified no matter how much you don't agree with what someone does. That is what the law is for.

Could have been me who posted links, but I never said Bush did it.sm
I post the links because I want everyone to research the issue, want to know what everyone thinks, but most stay quiet. My suspicions would be connected to Cheney and the members of Project for a New American Century.
I dutifully went to all these links and checked...
all refer to the book by Cliff Shechter...they are quoting him. No one else has independently corroborated this. His book says "three reporters who reported anonymously." I understand that you believe, based on what this man said in his book, even though no one else apparently heard this...that it is true. I just don't have similar belief. Just like I don't assume that Hillary Clinton liberally used the "F" word because some unnamed or anonymous sources said she did. Do a search on Hillary CLinton F word secret service and look at all the crap that comes up. That's what I mean. And her "people" always declined to deny it. They did not dignify it with a response. Same case here. Only it is not one quote...it is several. But, using your logic, it must have been all true or Hillary would have sued those who were saying it?
Bottom line is you choose to believe it, I don't. Answer this for me...if a conservative wrote a book about Obama and said he had three anonymous sources who heard Obama call his wife the C word, would you believe that as readily as you believe this?
Just asking.
Thanks for the links. I started reading through them. sm
I started with the first link and only got partially through Palin's. Hope to go back later to finish it and read the other candidates too.
One of the things I read it said where her husband worked for BP. They had said that he would quit if she were elected gov. but after she was they backed out of that and stated that since he was not management it wouldn't matter or wouldn't be a conflict. But wouldn't it be? He works for an oil company, she is for the drilling of oil, etc. To me that is still a big conflict.
Also, why is one thing saying he quit and another thing saying he still works there part-time. This link from above was a direct quote from them I believe.
Anyway, again, thanks for the links. Hope to read up some more tonight.
Umm, read links. SP's words are in there.

All of these things can be independently verified. The policies that he is proposing are socialism 101...redistribution of wealth. The "people" of Cuba has not done so well after the Castro/Che Guevara revolution, now have they?

PLEASE post links not copies
of entire articles -- the rules clearly state -- rules and regulations -- rules and REGULATIONS!!!!!!
darn links never work right...
As the controversy surrounding Sarah Palin's pastor grows to one of near biblical proportions, certain very important questions are beginning to come to light. Questions like, if Reverend Wright's statements of opinion about America were so damning that Obama had to distance himself, then what of Muthee's Kenyan witch hunt? What of his continued, almost paranoid, remarks about witches in his prayers?
Many people, except those who truly take every word of the Bible as literal truth, are rightfully critical of Muthee's beliefs. There is one word to say for it -- extremism. Extremism in the same way that some of the Muslim faith believe that it is right and just to fight 'Holy Wars.' Extremism in the same way that supposedly justified murder for any cause is extreme.
But there it is, plain as day, in the Holy Bible's own Exodus -- "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." If you happen to be one of those people who believe that every single word in the Bible is true, then this becomes a very troubling precedent. Based on your beliefs that the literal Bible is infallible, you must agree with this rather extreme statement since it did, in your view, come from God.
At this point, it becomes a matter of some debate as to what a witch actually is. It's pretty key since the Bible itself mandates killing them. So who is a witch? Is it a lady who practices magic? If so, then what is magic? Is it praying to gods other than those in the Christian faith? Is it practicing fortune telling? Is it simply being a woman involved in spiritual work? Is it being someone alleged to have made crops fail or traffic accidents to have happened? I ask these questions because all of the above have been accused and punished for supposed 'witchcraft' often with death as is the Bible's precedent.
The facts were given in the links above in the thread nm
