I had read somewhere a while back that AAMT secured a grant to (get this) - TRAIN MT's In INDIA...but s@rew workers here in the US. IMHO, they are no better than the offshore companies who rob us blind. Also adding insult to injury, they came up with all of these fancy schmancy titles to 'show the world' you are a 'real' MT (CMT, etc), charging up to wazoo for their courses for certification that didn't amount to jack squat...

I am aware that AAMT is not
a worker's union; however my bone of contention with them is the fact that instead of promoting MT's here and making us feel that we are indeed valuable to the economy of the nation we live in, they decided to do what other corporations have and give more attention and resources to offshore MT's in India. IMHO that is a slap in the face to the MT's here who have worked like the dickens to provide the medical community with the highest standard of transcription that we all could take pride in. I'm getting off of my box now....
AAMT is not a workers' union.

AAMT was supposed to be our voice
in Washington. I finally dropped my membership in disgust at their lack of action. All I saw them do was puff themselves up, making up all sorts of education and standards wish lists that have never been applied to the field which certainly would have helped keep work on shore and our wages more in line with our knowledge and services to the medical community.
Saying dems are for the people is like saying AAMT is for the MTs - full of hooey.
