Birthday presents
But Obama gave his wife a pair of earrings for many thousands of dollars and she exchanged them for a more expensive pair. This was Michelle's birthday present!! This was in an article in the Chicaog Sun-Times.

I just wanted to make sure I was giving the correct information. This was for her birthday last year. He bought her earrings that cost $5,000 and she exchanged them for earrings that cost $12,000. She checked with her husband and he came back in and bought the earring for $12, 000.

Birthday party for a Democrat...need suggestions...sm
My friend is having a 70th birthday party for her Mom - a Democrat. Do any of you have any suggestions for making this party really memorable for her? I have suggested a proclamation from our Representative, Senator and Governor, donkeys all over the place, and that is about it. I'm a Republican so be kind! LOL! AIG - the gift that keeps on giving. sm
Beginning with the first bailout under the Bush administration, and accelerating apace (which one wouldn't have thought possible) under Obama, the ineptitude in dealing with every aspect of the current economic problems is simpy staggering.
This ineptitude includes both Presidents, both Treasury secretaries, the man who was/is Fed chairman under both Presidents(Bernanke), Congress, and regulatory agencies such as the SEC and FDIC.
Consider this interesting little fact: It has taken six months for the Ethics Committee to investigate some fairly simple charges of financial misconduct by Charlie Rangel, but Congress can pass three major bills, two of which were so large they couldn't be read by anyone, in a matter of a few days (and in the case of the third bill which unconstitutionally taxes AIG bonuses, in just one day).
My dear friends, this country is in trouble. The government is behaving impulsively and has, in my long life, never before been in such a state of disarray. Our response to the financial crisis is beginning to look like nothing so exquisitely as a Chinese fire drill.
We are apparently determined to prove to the world that we're going to make a pig's breakfast out of this crisis, but hey...at least we did it fast!
Impulsive and reckless government - THAT is what the American people (and the world) are seeing, and THAT is what I believe is beginning to frighten us even more than the economic crisis itself.

that was requested. I guess you ignored the other gift they gave her. Sounds to me like the Obamas did their homework. Maybe that's why the queen put her arm around Michelle and yet doesn't like to touch anyone else (reportedly).
Let's face it. You guys absolutely can't stand the fact that a democrat is in the White House and that he's doing an excellent job. Kind of makes the last guy look like Barney Fife.

That's right...she's back. Now she's giving interviews for a documentary. She's whining about how everything is her handler's fault, admitting that she bombed the first Couric interview but the handler's made her go back for more. She's saying Caroline Kennedy is getting different treatment because she is in a different "class." Yeah right, Caroline is getting killed by the media right now. And my personal favorite, she said if she had run on the democratic ticket she would have been treated differently. What a goof.
There are much more important issues than gift giving.
This subject may be of interest to a child, but it has nothing to do with politics or issues that are important to adults. Who the heck cares whether Barack Obama believes in giving gifts? By definition, it was a rumor!

Don't sweat the small stuff. The country is about to embark on a grim path which very well could include wandering bands of hungry ruthless thieves, heavily armed, raping and pillaging, and the young, old and weak will be their victims.
Do you realize the state of the situation? Do you realize the very real possibilities of the suffering in store for all of us because of fraud and blatent misconduct and mismanagement under the republican administration?
You Americans should feel fortunate to have this man stand up for you.

In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.
The couple explained that they spend "hundreds" on birthday slumber parties and want to "teach some limits". Santa Claus is still permitted to deliver seasonal gifts however.
As a mom of 3, I think that is absolutely great, the gift of experience, fun adventure, and learning
There are many ways to "gift" a person! I think they are very wise and caring parents, just from what I observe from the outside.

God sent you here to as a constant reminder of the kind of person I DON'T want to be and if I ever have a bad day when I feel temporarily stupid, all I have to do is read your posts, and I realize there are those out there who are much worse off than I am and for them it's not temporary.
