moi?

I'm a stickler for the written and spoken word, and I think people would be amazed at the # of people who don't really pay attention to what's said. Here's an example in the form of a conversation -

Jack:  Jill, can I ask you a question?
Jill:  Sure.
Jack:  Do you like perfume?
Jill:   (says nothing)
Jack:  Didn't you hear the question?
Jill:  Yes, I heard the question.
Jack:  So answer it.
Jill:  But you didn't ask me to answer it. All you said was "Can I ask you a question?" You never asked if I would answer it.
Jack:  You're being ridiculous.
Jill:  No I'm not. But, you're being presumptuous.

That's what I'm asking about.  People don't always listen to the spoken word.
