do you think it's possible for me to find a full-time MT job with only 6 months of experience or should i go ahead with training at career step, then try to get a job? when i stopped working last april i was at 1300+ lpd, .09cpl, 100wpm. i've had a pharmacology class since then too.
and... why did all the job listings stop in august 07?

Hah, I love it. Slam bam!! Whew, I knew an attack would come from some unhappy soul. Around the Back, I got into this thread because I read the silliness about the "Big 3" which I know is not true from our own hiring practices.
Here we have a poster who offers nothing but negatives. Nothing helpful, only destruction. Why are there people like this?
Unfortunately, I have too many MTs with similar negative attitudes. The world is too short to dwell in such a bleak world. Next you'll look for typos. :)
Come out and share. Offer insights. Take some risks by trying to look into the future and offer some of your long term wisdom. You probably have a lot. Share. Almost all of us want to learn. Brighten our lives a little.
And I'm not here to promote any school or MT Company. I could care less as long as students and graduates don't have their dreams crushed by scammers.
Your comments on this school's curriculum points to the fact that you really don't know what you are talking about. I could go into why, but that is tedious for me and the readers. The school can defend itself if it wants.
No that's not fair to the school, the curriculum is mostly HPI, one class at Career Step private publications, followed by their internship. I know because we hired from them. The key was their mentors.
A positive attitude is both free and priceless at the same time.
I do not post on job forums because this is not a job, it is an internship. sm
It appears that you have been misled by someone, perhaps another by program such as mine. If that happened to me, I would be skeptical as well.
I have accepted a few interns from this forum by solicitation in the past and will do so again, I'm certain.
Remember, it takes one who truly wants to succeed to proceed.

seeking a mentor
I recently completed a MT program and I have not been successful at finding work as a MT at home. I was wondering if there were any mentors available. I want to get some experience through mentoring, if possible to enhance my skills. I would really appreciate it.
Seeking employment
Hi. I am a new MT graduate, but not new to the medical field as I am a nurse and have worked at the hospital for 3 years now. I have been applying, but do not yet have a job. I went to a community college program and I am hoping that will help me. If anyone has any suggestions or if anyone has a name of a company that may be willing to hire a new MT grad with previous med experience please let me know. Thanks so much
Seeking a position
I am generally good with different speech patterns, having lived overseas and around the military. I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to a site where I could internship/work/test for ESL accounts. Any suggestions? Generally, I enjoy the challenge of deciphering the word choice. It is almost like a puzzle. Am I crazy?
Seeking MT info
Congrats on your graduation. May I ask how/where you went to school. I am trying to find more information about this field, i.e. time, cost, etc. Where to start? Thanks, Kelly
MT student seeking advice
I am currently enrolled in a Community College MT certificate program and will finish in December of this year. The MT program is fairly new at this college and they don't yet have any internship or trainee arrangements with MT companies. I am completing Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Medical Transcription courses next week (summer session) with A's. This fall, I will be finishing with my last 2 required courses, Pharmacology and Medical Transcription II.
I am ready to work and would like to start gaining experience as soon as possible (part-time or full-time). I am a 42-year-old professional with 20+ years of business experience, including corporate management, and I also hold a BS degree. I would like some advice on finding companies that will employ me now -- before I have completely finished the college certificate program. I am extremely committed to producing quality work and I am ready to start proving myself. I welcome any suggestions, Thank you.
Message for newbies seeking jobs
Please go to www.careerbuilder.com. On the left hand side, enter into 'keyword' box, 'transcription work from home'. Do not enter a city or state or category. Now click on 'search'. There are several jobs her for transcriptionists with little experience. Some of them require that you live in a certain area. Many of them do not. When you call to inquire about these positions, make sure that it's not some sort of school thing that requires you to pay a fee. I hope this is helpful.
Anyone seeking a mentor? I'd like to help. Please email if interested.
