Price for M-TEC
Why don't you just give them a call and have all of your questions answered by them? Everyone there is very friendly, honest, and will take the time to explain things to you.
this job is like most others; ya gotta..
climb the ladder, which takes years to get to the top rung (my analogy for compensation). Ditto to the poster who remarked about a change in attitude.
gotta add something
it might help if i said i was at 98.7%+ accuracy both times i was fired... then again, why do i feel the need to paint this person as such a (insert mean-spirited name-calling word here)? i guess i just needed to vent! thanks for listening
I've gotta ask...
How could you not know you were typing with the caps on? Were you looking at your fingers instead of the screen? Do you always do that?
There are quite a few and range in price - sm,
Stedman's Smartype, Instant Text, Shorthand, and one or two others I think. I have used ShortHand and Smartype. I prefer the Smartype as it comes loaded with medical terms, etc., the Shorthand doesn't from what I remember. They run $90-$200 depending on which one you buy. I believe you can get free trials, so that would be the way to try them out and see which one you like the best. I have heard that IT is harder to learn and get used to, but as I have not tried it I really don't know. They really do help though, I know I am at least 30-40% faster because of my word expander.
That person just wanted the price!
Why are you so negative? All that person was asking for was the price of the course. M-Tec will not say that this is a job in which you can get rich fast. Everybody has their own story, and this goes for every type of job. M-TEC does offer top notch training. They also have a great reputation which will open the doors to a job as a "newbie." The rest is up to you. It is up to you how hard you study and how high your GPA is. Like in other jobs, the higher the GPA, the more opportunities you will receive. Of course you will have the learning curve in the beginning and might not make much money. You might only make 6 cents per line in the beginning. Anybody who is informed knows that anything is possible because so many factors play a role. There are great companies to work for, and there are companines that take advantage of their employees. You will find the same problems in the MT world as you will in other jobs. What is different is that you can work from home which save you time, money, aggravation. If you live in a rural area where there aren't many jobs, then being an MT, working from home, offers you opportunities you otherwise would not have had. If you do not like what you are doing, then maybe you need to get a different job. Why waste your time on a job you obviously do not like? For sure, you should not respond like you did to a simple question about the price of a course.
ICS will NOT teach you enough to get a job. Don't be suckered in by the low price. nm

Newbies, ya gotta learn one thing here...sm
you must be accurate in all typed correspondence. I had a newbie that asked about doing an internship I offered. Here is her actual response:
Yes I am definetly interested.
Thanks you.
Now how am I supposed to hire somebody like that?
Maybe not full price, I agree. But some companies are

I found this nextag site: price 5.99 to 44.50:
http://www.nextag.com/Microsoft-Word-2003-60348100/prices-html
(Here's the page I came off of to get to the "prices" URL: http://www.nextag.com/microsoft-word-2003/search-html . It has various MS Word 2003 packages. You might check it out also.)
MTStars FlashType is also just like Shorthand only cheaper in price.

Can't forget the AAMT Book of Style II! Gotta have it for style/formatting, etc. nm
