accredidation

Thank you for answering my post so fast. Yes, I found that CS is approved by AAMT. But, I see in their literature (CS) that they say they are not "accredited", because they do not feel that it benefits them in any way to do so. It sounds like MT programs do not have a certain body that gives accredidation to schools??? I guess that is what I am wondering. In certain college programs out there, there are certain institutions that accredit those programs, or give them some sort of "ok" so that the public can determine that the program is legitimate and abides by certain regulations and contains all of the neccessary classes with the appropriate material to be covered. Is there such a place that accredits MT programs? I know the AAMT approves schools, but I guess the word accredidation is what I am looking for. Some MT schools say they are actually "accredited". I am trying to find out by whom these schools are accredited and if there is a large organization that has the authority to accredit MT schools. Also, in Career Steps literature somewhere they state they chose not to go through the accredidation process and I am wondering why and if that makes a difference to employers out there. I am have been looking into CS for a long while now. And I feel that their program looks very good. So thank you for giving me your feelings and personal experience with them! I just want to double check this accredidation aspect and make sure it is not that big of deal, and just make sure what it means. Does the AAMT actually give what they call "accredidation" to schools????
