Why does she need to take a course?

She's looking at you and seeing somebody who walked in off the street. Because she does not know what is required--which you don't actually happen to have--she's justified in feeling miffed that you're shutting her out. It looks like that's what you're doing to her from her knowledge of the situation.
She doesn't have to take a course. All she needs is a book to learn from.
Don't scoff at others until you are fully successful. This is going to be more difficult than you think.
