Here's a recent quote from MT CHAT:
Congratulations on your choice to become an MT.
Deciding on a school was one of the hardest choices I made. I chose the vlc and am not ashamed or intimidated to say I made the right choice for me. I received a first-class education, and they do use SUM in their courses. When I graduated, I was working within 5 weeks from home and was able to set my own days and hours. The vlc, contrary to what you hear from others, does help their graduates find employment. They have a long list of potential employers who are more than willing to give new vlc graduates the opportunity to test with them. I am quite happy with my employer as they offer me the flexibility I need for my circumstances. I don't believe Medquist, Healthscribe, or other major companies would allow me this control.
The vlc has recently undergone an upgrade to their programs, as all schools must do to keep up-to-date. I graduated with quite a few of the "disgruntled" students who were not happy with their choice in schools. I received the same educational materials, and yet, I studied hard, supplemented when I needed to with online research (and we all do), and graduated with the skills necessary to be hired as an MT. No matter which school you choose, it is up to you to do the studying and apply yourself.
I am very happy I chose the vlc and would highly recommend them.
