never forget she is doing you a favor, so you should be willing to work the less desirable days/hours so she can have a break. My boss hired a newbie a while ago, and I was shocked that she wanted to set her own schedule, starting at 7:30 in the morning and finish at 4:30 or 5:00, when there was no work to until more like 8:30, and we both could have been done by 6:00 or 6:30 if she had stayed that late. She had one child, who was 16, so it wasn't a concern about child care. I was shocked that a newbie would be like that.
