This was my way to first job, not for everyone

I took Meditec's internship after completing their program. I did it for both the real life experience and the hope of sliding in to that first MT job after completing the intern program. It worked out just that way. There were several I was going to quit that intern program too because it was so rough at times and I felt QA was rather inconsistent. Quite frankly, I think I learned more from that than I did from their actual training program! It did cost extra, took another six months and I did not get paid for the work I did while in it. But, I moved to my first real MT job once I advanced to "paid status." The pay was paltry at only 2 cpl then (don't know what it is now), but it was on the same account I had interned on. From there, Meditec worked with me and let me try other accounts until I found one I was more productive with at a better rate.
I am not at all saying this is the way to go. Certainly, not everyone would need this or would want to go this route. I am just saying it worked well for me. I was able to get that two year experience requirement done and then move on. I was kind of slow at first, looked up a lot, came to discover there was a lot I should have been taught through the program, but wasn't and was learning while in the intern program. All in all, it was the route I chose and it worked. I am not really an advocate for Meditec or their intern program, I suspect they are good for some people and maybe not for others. They are like most any training program with good and bad points, but overall effective if you really apply yourself and work hard at it.
