I bought a 15-pin to USB at Radioshack. They are about $8, I think

I just recently worked with someone - sm
who "graduated" from there. They were lousy to say the least. They were let go as far as I know; did not learn from their mistakes and took forever to QA, had to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. They received thorough QA back but they either did not read it, or just did not learn not to make the same mistake over and over again. If they had learned from their mistakes though they probably wouldn't have been let go. It was a very frustrating experience.
I bought replacement headphones
for an Olympus recorder. You hardly notice those little things. I can wear them all day with no problem, and they were pretty cheap (around $12).
I recently had missing reports,
but I found out that I had not signed in or out correctly so the reports for that day were not counted in the total "clocked in" amount. They were accounted for and paid, but just did not show when I checked my status. With this company, I have to clock in and out. What got confusing was that sometimes the platform did not ask me to clock in, although I always exited and logged out. Maybe your problem is as simple as mine was, just a thought.
when I bought my computer last fall
it came with Vista. Nothing came with XP anymore but I had to have it. (Now Dell is getting smart and selling computers with XP again.) We just put a copy of XP on. We always have the option to restart and boot Vista. You don't have to dump it. This was a huge headache, though, because we had to download a bunch of other drivers for sound, video, etc., and I would recommend just getting a computer with XP. We really like our Dell computer.
I was also an RT full-time and just recently
quit FT to go PRN. I'm doing transcription FT again as I got burned out at RT work. I can tell you, once you get your line count up, the pay is about the same (although it does take a bit of time to get your line count up), or at least in my part of the country. Just to give you an average, RT I was making $18 an hour day shift other parts of the country they make much more - up to $35, but this is a very rural area with low cost of living) With MT, I'll be making around $16-19 depending on the difficulty of work. So it's comparable.
Only 1 post recently from someone who heard good things and wished they

I just bought a laptop Dell E1505. Your biggest obstacle is the foot pedal as it's a 9-pin serial
port and NO newer computers have them anymore, especially laptops. Also, Escription is not compatible with Windows Vista which also most newer computers come with. I needed a laptop with Windows XP so I went onto Dell and they can "customize" one for you with the XP on it or you can do what I did and 400 dollars cheaper and get it from Ebay. The only thing I noticed was that the new one I got on ebay didnt have Word on it and I had to purchase Word 2003 for that as Word 2007 also is not compatible. Over the last 3 years, I have tried multiple adapters to get the foot pedal to work and finally used one that Escription recommends ..the Dynex DB9 model. I also got it on Ebay for $10 or they can be bought at like Best Buy but they are around $35 I think. There are a few obstacles with Escription and laptops etc.but since I like to travel, I finally got it worked out. I also plug in another keyboard as the laptop one is hard to type on and I like my ergonometer one. Good luck
Just do it. I work for a small MTSO and recently asked for myself - and got what I asked for. nm
xx
I may have one that I bought a while back. Will check tonight and get back to you.

Didn't she sell it, or just your company to an offshore company. The woman
has a screw loose.
No, the woman who owns this company can't transcribe herself, much less run a company.

Any company that charges anything to work is not a reputable company. However,
if a company offers a job and requires that you have a certain pedal and offers to provide it and then take it out of say your first paycheck or couple of paychecks, then that is acceptable.
My belief is that companies that charge you for software or anything else is trying to make money off of you.
While $11.95 isn't much, figure that amount times 10 or 20 or 100 and what do you come up with? Smells like a scam to me.
company was sold so they have no company to hire you after graduation!
They are not a reputable school and I went there so I should know. Even when they did have Trans. Relief Services they never answered my email about employment upon graduation.
What company?
Hello, I recently read your comment and was wondering what company that was that hired you as a newbie? I'm just starting out and I need to work at home to be with my son. Would you mind networking with me! Nice to meet you..e-mail me at kennyandjenny@hotmail.com
thanks! Sincerely, Jennifer Hokanson
Company Name
Can you say what company you are working for?
company
this company is advertising on the job board - Dictate4Me
not sure if this is the same company, but...
A friend of mine who was recently looking for a job had been talking to a lady from New England Transcription (not sure if this is the same company??) and had been given the total run around from them.
First the lady said that they paid 9 cents a line to start, then when my friend got the contract (which she had to call the lady for 5 or 6 times), it said 5 cents a line. Then she never heard from the lady who hired her until the day before she was supposed to begin the job. Then, the day she was supposed to start, she was told there was no work, and she should call back in a few weeks.
Needless to say, she didn't take this job, but it wasted about 3 weeks (from the time she accepted the position until they told her it was no longer available due to lack of work).
If this is the same company, maybe ask for the contract up front and review it carefully. Ask what the work load is like and all that good stuff. Hopefully it's not the same place.
Company
May I ask which company you are working for?
Take the job if you like the company
I would take the job if the company seems professional. The pay rate seems reasonable for someone coming out of school. If the people you are working for are helpful, you will gain tremendous experience. If they will help you with further training, then you are off to a good start. Taking a job with a higher rate and being in over your head might not be the best path. Just my opinion.
What company is it?
.
If you like the company then I would
You can load it and it will have (I think) 2 operating systems but XP should work fine. Not a lot of places are compatible with Vista yet that I know of.
Why do you think that the company you
work for should bend over backwards to give you the account you want? I am sure other MTs are on that account, so would it be fair to take someone off just because you want it???? If you want to find another job fine, but don't think that just because you want certain accounts you will get them. We all take the bad with the good.
About the company
Yes i surely can. It is a SCAM company, STAY AWAY from it if you don't want to lose your money and time.
What is the company name
What is the company name?
I have yet to see a company that uses MAC. The
programs used are not compatible.
bad company
If they are the company that asks you to give them $400 (or something like that) then stay away. Any company that makes you pay for their "software and training" is crap. There are too many better companies out there that don't require you to pay to work for them. Would you go to any other job and pay to work for a company? It's a little backwards.
If it's a reputable company, yes. SM
Some companies do charge a small lease or rental fee.
company advice
Just wanted to know if anybody has ever worked for Breitner Transcription and what they are like?
Thanks!
I think that depends on the company
I think some companies but a time frame on when you can test again if you do not do well the first time. Good luck
depends upon the company
The company I'm an IC with is located in CA but I live in TN. Since I've had a problem with my sleep for *years,* it was an ideal situation in terms of what accounts to put me on. I'm in charge of H&Ps on three specific accounts. They need the reports by 6 a.m. their time, which is 8 a.m. my time. No problem. It's rare for me to sleep until 4:45 a.m. Usually, I'll get up around 2:30 to 3 p.m. I just go back to sleep for a few hours when the morning rush is done. My work day ends by 4 p.m. my time, which is 2 p.m. their time.
Position at company
I am a newbie but would be interested in the company that is hiring. Could you how to reach them?
Sounds like a company I know in
Alabama near 280. If it is and you want to talk, send me an email. I worked there before.
This is problematic. You may get a company that
specializes in ER notes to test you. You should also look for ads featuring in clinic work. There is no way that you can apply for acute care because you don't any OP experience and it doesn't appear that you have much other acute care. Good luck.
If they are a reputable company and have really
hired you, then yes, they will require this in order to employ you. How else can they avoid hiring illegals or escaped felons, etc.
Good company?
I am a well trained and experienced professional MT and have been for 13 years now. I have been looking at several of the work-at-home companies out there. Does anyone out there work for ImageStat Corporation and are they a good company to work for?
What is this wonderful company
So what is the name of this company you started working at home from in 2 days after grad? What's their website. Help out the people looking please
Wow! I could be working for the same company!
I felt the exact same as you do!! After six months I am finally on paid status, but the pay is not much. Good luck! Let me know if you find anything better!
MT company supervisors
I have just started with a large MT company and I barely hear from my supervisor. I am very self-reliant, but had some basic questions for him. He was offline the first day (he had never contacted me at that point) and when I finally caught him on the phone he said he would send me an e-mail with answers. That was two days ago.
I was just curious if this was typical for the industry?
Ms. Newbie
If you look at company requirements
they will not accept your nursing as MT experience. It is not the same job.
Please go to the best MT program you can afford, first.
You're in a tough gig -- starting MT work, new mom with baby at home ...good luck but you can do it with a good education behind you in MT.
Depends on the company
I have a part time that requires 2500 per week part time and two that have no requirement. I generally do 2000+ lines per day with them all combined.
Try Lyon & Company...
I do not know much about them other than a couple of recent grads applied there, but it might be something to check out.
Congrats to your MIL. Also, her school may have a list of companies that are presently hiring their graduates.
Depends on the company
It is harder to get a raise with one of the big nationals. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to ask. Talk to your supervisor and give her the reasons you feel you deserve a raise. List your good qualities such as dependability or good grammar skills. You have a 50/50 chance! Good luck to you.
Are you looking at a specific company?
I just wanted to chime in because I know Execuscribe uses Chartscript and they are who I work for now and my advice would be to find a different company. Chartscript is great, but Execuscribe is not. Just my opinion.
Transcription company
Hello,
I was wondering if any of you have heard of the transcription company called, Advanced Language International Systems. (alsi-llc)? Thank you.
Sure sounds like a certain company
that is notorious for this very thing.
In my company we have instructions
to change q.d. to daily
Feedback on Company
Has anyone got feedback on company Lee Perfect Transcription?
company and experience
Lynn, how much experience do you have? From which school did you receive your trainng? And which company are you working for? If they hire newbies, please, I want to know! I need a job now, not in two years! :-)
Thanks for the Company Reference...
newbiemommt! I'll definitely check out that company. I also came across another Philippine company close to where we will be living. The hesitancy I have is that unless an expat (I'm not really expatting...I'm coming back to the U.S. in 2-3 years) is married to a Philippine citizen ( I won't be married to my filipina love until we can wade through the bureaucratic government redtape there) it can be very difficult for a foreigner to get hired by a Philippine company. As far as I am aware , Philippine-based companies pay at local wage rates...which is peanuts. For instance a entry-level filipino worker may bring home 12,000 pesos / month , which sounds like alot , but that equates to about $300 / month. If I were to be hired by a U.S. company and make just $1,000 / month I would be bringing home approx. 40,000 pesos /month and we could live very well on that.
I would expect that I could make substantially more than $1,000/month working as an MT being paid at U.S. wage rates , which is attractive to me for three reasons. The first is that my love and our children will be able to live very well while living there. The second reason is that by being paid the going Ameican wage I am not taking part in depressing the wages American , U.S. based MT workers are making. The third is avoiding the hassles of just getting a Philippine company to even hire me and also avoiding the difficulties associated with getting a Philippine work permit work visa. Afterall , we are not going to stay in the Philippines for any longer than necessary and when coming back to the U.S. It would be great to already be working for a U.S. company all that time , with nothing more needed than just a change of address.
I really , really do appreciate your suggestions. Thanks much.
Ed
Jade, what's the name of your company? sm
and how can newbies check this out to be sure it's not a scam? Do you require the purchase of anything in order to start an internship? TIA!
