Hi Jennifer ,
Thank you for taking the time to answer. I appreciate your insights, I will be keeping a U.S. bank account while living overseas. I don't know about the tax question though. I have more things to look into for sure.
I hope I am not too bold in suggesting that you might want to take a German job while you are there , especially if you can get paid in Euros. I believe that I Euro now exchanges for nearly $1.50! One British Pound Sterling now exchanges for nearly $2! Even the Canadian currency has strenghtened against the dollar. The dollar has even weakened against the Philippine Piso (Peso) as it now trades 40Pesos for $1 , whereas it wasn't that long ago $1 exchanged for 50 Philippine Pesos. Still , making U.S. Dollars while living in the Philippines is very attractive in that in making one dollar I would be making 40 times what a local would make recieving 1 Peso. Likewise , it would be advantageous for you to be paid in Euros while living in the U.S. , as you would essentially be making time and a half against the value of the dollar for every Euro you were paid.
Unfortunately , I believe the dollar will keep weakening against other currencies , as we are massively in debt and we really stepped in it big time by destroying our manufacturing base in the U.S. in favor of service sector reliance. We have placed our country in a very disadvantageous position and are vulnerable to economic troubles ahead.
Thanks again for taking time to reply. Congratulations on the nearness of CS completion and best wishes on landing a rewarding and well-paying job.
