In Reply to: Amanda, you know what? I sat here all weekend thinking about offering Lisa an IC position (sm) - Boo2
You ought to be ashamed of yourself to say that you are helping people when you are dangling a position in her face, and then have enough nerve to rant about it. Everyone has a different situation. So, she says she is Mom first, aren't we all? Geez.... You people are amazing. Lisa, I commend you, for standing up for yourself. You'll make it in this business because it does take assertiveness whether it be now or in the future. Do not think for one minute there are not people in this field choosing their own hours so they can be mothers plus have an income. God bless, good luck, and take care of your children and your business as they only have one mother, but there are plenty of jobs out there for the taking.

If you want REAL textbooks, a REAL instructor, and REAL feedback ...
on how you're doing, then M-Tec is the way to go.
CS is NOT as good, homemade materials, correct your own work by comparing it to something typed by someone else, etc.
I attended CS and if I knew then what I know now, I would choose M-TEC (or Andrews School) in a heartbeat.
lol nice one
/
Well isn't that nice.
XOXOXOXOXO
At least someone is trying to be nice and help
..
That was really nice of you (see msg)
I'm sure it will help tons of people. Saving Keystrokes is a tad expensive but I've heard nothing but wonderful praises about it. I am seriously considering buying it.
The ABCZ method is quite popular but I haven't settled down and changed my IT entries yet (too much overtime at the moment). Thanks for the post!
Nice.
.
some people....not nice!
I would try in-house to get some experience.
If you have to work at home then try doctor offices that have 1 or 2 docs. They might be more willing to hire someone without experience.
Opppsss..Nice spelling,huh? lol...
I am interested in joining the group. Please let me know how to join.
Thank you!
It would be nice if there were current info
in the archives. I just joined them. I've asked on this forum myself about SGS and got no better answer. For the most part thus far, they seem basically okay, though not so quick to respond to questions/concerns.
LPN to MT here. The pay drop will be a shocker, but it's nice to work
m
Sending out prayers that every New MT finds a nice job!
So thank you for saying Spheris employees are bumbling. That was nice.
Perhaps the green eyed monster is the one who can't stand the idea of anyone being successful in this field any way OTHER than the Mighty Big Three.
You Cant Be Real!!!!!

M-TEC not honest? Are you for real??
I have personally met Susan and Kathy several times, both in and out of school, as a student and a working grad. They never glossed over the reality of being a working MT, what is required to find and keep a job, the kind of money one can make. Ask them real questions and you will get real answers.
While they prepare you for the real working MT world, you DO have to do the work yourself and secure your own job testing, which I found was not a problem one bit because I applied myself in school and absorbed as much as I could. I was offered to test for too many places to list when I graduated and landed a job within days of graduation, which I have successfully kept and flourished in for more than 5 years. I have also made really good money and been very satisfied with my career choice.
I believe, as in most things, good communication is key. If someone has issues they really do need to take them up with the source and allow them to be addressed in an honest and open fashion.
You said it all in that post, your REAL job is being a mom
so it's coming off like you don't consider MT'ing a real job, and rather just a way to make some cash in between burping, feeding, changing, entertaining the children, and it most certainly is not. Perhaps that is why the not so nice posts. I have said it from day #1, you absolutely can't be a full time mom and work a job where you are expected to produce quality work unless the kids are in daycare or school part of the day or you have another adult at home with you to help out with the children while you are working. Contrary to what the "ads" say, it just doesn't work very well. I was an MT trainer/mentor for at-home newbies for many years so I know first hand.
In the real world
Your employer or clients will tell you how to format SOAP notes. There is no universal format law. Each practice determines its own format. One of my clients wants the name and account number on one line with the DOB and DOS on separate lines under that. Another client wants each item on a separate line. A thid client wants a different format altogether.
There is no point in worrying about various formats until you have a job or a client, at which time you will be told what they want.
I'm gonna come across as a real
stinker, but your spelling of regular English words has to be top-notch to pass a test in the future. Another word to burn into your brain is "definitely." There are no A's in it! These things are so important!
Nice advice, however, learning good grammar usually falls somewhere
between grades 1-8 and, even more so, 9-12, if you are lucky enough to be exposed to good schools. If they have not been the afforded the opportunity to attend a solid grade school, as well as a high school, with teachers who emphasize and demand the importance of correct grammar, they are going to be left behind when it comes to MTing, or have to take some English classes to catch up on what they missed during the early days of learning.
Real life dictations...
Hi! In real-life dictations, can you actually understand them compared to course work? Many tapes have so much background noise & static or they run their words together, etc. Thanks for your input! Getting discouraged...
trust me, we can tell the real MTs a mile away!
Welcome! :-)
Is this post for real? Take care of your
or napping.
CS doesn't even supply you with real
reference materials, except for the dictionary and drug book. All other books were written by the owner, who was trained by her mother, who taught herself.
I would rather have had real instructors instead of an "automatic grader" and real books instead of "home made" ones.
US real MTs or US voice recognition?
x
You are a real piece of work!
Do you have any purpose in life other than to instigate trouble and annoy people? You have been reprimanded numerous times by the moderators of this board, yet you just won't stop! If I were a moderator, you would have been banned from ever posting on this board again a long time ago! Enough already!
No real average. Too many factors.
Font type and size, margins, headers and footers can all affect how many lines fit on a page. How many lines I get per page for my account may differ drastically than what someone else is getting due to different formatting.
is 'neurospine' a real word?
Hi all,I have need of your wisdom today. I have run across a dictator using the word 'neurospine' As slang is disapproved of highly here, can anyone tell me if this is a real word or some abbreviation doctors use for convenience?
Thanks in advance,
Skye
Welcome to the world of real medical transcription.
That's what a lot of doctors' dictation sounds like. You have to be able to handle it. That's why it's on the tests.
Meditech hires newbies for real
Meditech is a company that does hire newbies for their internship. I finished my internship in October and am now a full-time employee. I am posting this message to let everyone know who hasn't found that perfect company that hires newbies, that this is a legitamate company who does. Everyone wants you to have experience, this is how you get that experience.
This all sounds nice, but newbies have to choose MTSOs wisely and this one is not a wise choice.
me, I will explain.
Oh yeah, like I said, it
will help you because the terminology, etc will come easier to you than someone who has never heard any of that before, but still, I think in order to actually be an MT, it does take the full training. Also, most companies won't hire you until you have done the full training.
Yeah, but...
In other words, the payment you make in April 2006 has to be for the tax year 2006?
yeah right lol
nm
Oh yeah!
http://www.tempurpedic.com/other_products/home_office_travel/the_seatcushion_by_tempur_pedic/
I have this and the lumbar support cushion. Heaven!! I sleep on a Tempur-Pedic mattress, too.
Yeah, this is the guy...
Who was going to call me in 3-5 minutes, a over a week ago.
yeah...
I just don't have a good feeling about it. Has anyone else received anything similar from here?
Thanks
yeah, ok
ok so I messed up...
yeah but but but
the thing is -- actual work experience, actually working at home without help, does make a big big difference. Being able to work the different work platforms, or some experience working some platform. Knowing how to solve problems THEN we get to the terrible terrible dictators. Sometimes, all I can hear is a tongue mumbling amd flicking back and forth inside the mouth. Unbelievable what is expected from MT with absolute perfection.
Yeah, ask about "placement."
nm
Yeah, what's the big secret?
nm
Yeah..again..I was talking to NEW MTs
x
Yeah, right, like we will see that same post in another 10 years or even 5. (nm)
x
Yeah, and if you can't make it as an MT after taking the VLC course,
you can always take their basket making class.
Yeah, it's called Caller ID - nm
xx
Yeah, it's a tough call (SM)
Like you said, it depends on the person. Regardless, there's a big learning curve for getting it right in this career. I hope for the best for the OP!
Yeah, I wondered the same thing...
Yeah, I know what you mean. I tried to do it all for years with small kids,
schooling, learning a new job, handling the household and finances. Something's going to suffer, and most likely, EVERYTHING will suffer. We can't do it all by ourselves and we shouldn't be expected to. Unfortunately, smacking someone upside the head with a 2x4 is considered assault, but smacking them upside the head with a legal document outlining child support amounts and visitation requirements is quite effective.
LOL Yeah, you've MASTERED those subjects. LOL
LOL
LOL Yeah, you've MASTERED those subjects. LOL
I don't see anything funny about that. I have spent extra time doing extra work because I really want to be the best that I can be. I have been tested and passed with a 98 for everything, except for Pharmacology because they don't offer that in the school that I am in. I am very motivated and don't mind going the extra mile to be the best that I can be. I'm sorry that you don't think anyone could do this. Yes, things are always changing and as they change I will be up to date with all of the changes.
lol yeah, you've MASTERED those subjects lol
I'm not in school fot MT, I'm in school for Medical Office Specialist Billing/Coding, so they don't offer pharmacology. I wasn't boasting, I was clearly stating that I have mastered the subjects that I have taken and believe I could do very well with an MT position with the knowledge that I have now. You don't need to do the work in order to master the subject matter. Mastering the subject and the job is 2 different things, but I guess you don't know that, being that you have done the job for 25 years. Thanks for being encouraging. ;)
Yeah, I've noticed people do that a lot here.
nm
and how about menter? Oh, yeah, let's hire her today!**snort** nm
