I didn't take the "kids come first" as condescending to US, I took it more like some companies want you to be available 24/7 and then act like you are not professional if you can't work late, early, extra, etc. Over the past couple of weeks I have waited entire shifts which they expect me to be here and only get 1 job. Then afterhours be hounded by IM, e-mail and even calls because more work has come in.
