THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU MQer, Christina RTMT and Marie, for your posts.
I feel TONS better, I was just so startled by all the new terms, by the ins and outs that I didn't realize existed (which will be learned on the job evidently), by the meanie posts, and so forth.
There are plenty of "doubting" friends and my hubby, too, is very leery of MT. I am grateful for this board and for the people who are helpful such as yourselves and others I have read. I will definitely take the advice of "taking things with a grain of salt" (or a whole cup of it in some cases *wink*) -- thanks again.
