try getting someone that is not family to critique your work. My first profession was/is a piano teacher, but I have found that teaching family is very hard to do, let alone telling them the faults in the work they have worked so hard on. Just my opinion.
My other thought is "good things come to those who wait."

I know it is hard. I am still searching myself and most of my family are in the medical field. Just not MTs.
