It will get better with each day

Aren't the first few days on the job just awful? There are so many things to remember, learn and get used to in addition to the reality of it all versus transcribing during school.  The first days are the hardest, but it does get better. If you are transcribing the "big" things such as terminology and drugs correctly but are forgetting a comma or are making a format mistake, do not worry about it.  Make sure you get the big stuff right by researching everything. The more you transcribe, the more you get used to the platform/software, the guidelines and all those little things. I started a list with specifics about each doctor. The guidelines for the clinics/hospitals are easy to look up and provided by my company. I also have a list for difficult words and for the hard-to-find drugs.  That way I do not have to remember all of these things while learning a new doctor. The more often you transcribe for the same doctor, the more you get used to the guidelines, the formatting and his/her specifics. When I receive my corrected reports back and/or the reports with the blanks filled in, I go through them and take notes if necessary.  I know this all takes time, but these lists have helped me, especially the hard-to-find drug list. I think it is much more important to focus on the accuracy of each report than on the speed especially when you are new to MT.  By the end of the week you will be much better than you were the first day on the job. I was totally exhausted after work the first week or two. Now it is much better. After a short while you won't have to think about how to use the platform/software and can focus more on the little things. Once you know the guidelines, you will have even more time and energy to focus on those little things. I assume you drive? What was it like the very first time you sat at the wheel compared to now?  Just have faith in yourself.  It does get better. You can do this!
