The first day is overwhelming of course. I have been a MT for a year now. I remember the first day. It is hard but it gets better. I had wonderful people to work for though. They were very patient. I don't think it is right of them to call you and complain about your speed. I was told the speed will come. Just tell them you are new at this and to please be patient while you adjust.
