I think you are right

Thank you for your response.  That is about what I was thinking.  What I have found is that many of these companies that seem to hire new grads or offer intern programs are working together.  I say this because the company I am working for (straight from an intern program) subcontracted the account I'm working on from another MTSO.  I know this because of the mass forwarded emails originating from companies I had applied to that didn't hire me.  What I didn't know then was that I was actually working on one of their accounts at that time and had been during that entire intern program!    It was good experience and did lead to a paid position, albeit too embarrassingly low to publicly admit to.  I tend to think this is, at least partly, why the  pay is so low for everyone - that there are at least two more levels taking a piece of the cpl at the entry MT level.  I also wonder that I may not have been considered for hire if I was already working on an account subcontracted from another company if there was a conflict of interest.   On yet another note, I don't dare give up what little I do have going for me just yet to take a chance elsewhere without some length of experience built up.

It is disheartening on one hand, but on the other, I think it is a way to help newbies actually get the experience they really need.  I take it from your post, that you feel my approach is a sound one.  Like you, I really can't think of a better way to get the solid experience I know I need.  I truly do appreciate the time you took in answering this question.  I guess what I really wanted was validation, and I thank you for that.

Have a blessed New Year!
