There is not a question about why we should be trained. Of course we need training as new hires. That's in every company and I don't mind taking tests to get hired also. Its the courses like Career builder and Trans am that make me mad because here we already dished out 2 grand to take a medical transcription course and they want us to dish out more money to get hired for something that is definately fresh in our minds since we've just graduated. That is retarded. All I want is to get hired, train me in the format of the transcripts to be transcribed and let me work. Be there if I have any questions and make the pay worthwhile.

How is it retarded?
Medical work quality is always important, isn't it? Tests and QA are done for a reason, right?
Transcription is a major expense for hospitals and doctors, so if we don't want to be replaced by technology or foreigners, we better be good at it. Right?
If one isn't cutting it, she needs to get better, and few companies can afford old-style in-house mentoring anymore.
