I work for a clinic doing transcription into EMR's. When I started 2 out of 5 docs when back to transcription and I was working parttime as I have my own MTSO. Now it is 4 out of 5 and soon 5 out of 5 and I worked myself out of a job because I don't have time to do it as many hours as they want. The docs found out that they could see more patients (which is a income generating) and it took much less time to dictate their notes than type them into the EMR's. They increased their patient load by at least 25% -- 5 patients per day with me doing their notes. I have also been contacted by two other clinics that have EMR's and now are thinking about having the docs go back to transcription as the chart notes are not getting done. So we may see a drop but it will just be a new way and you may be back into the clinic rather than at home but it will be there. I have been in this business for 20 years now. Have only seen my income go up and not down unless I so generate it that way.
