In Reply to: what if you offered to pick up your check from them? - aa
I sent a fax Friday letting the company know I had turned them over to my attorney for further collection, received a faxed return today stating they had lost the account because work was not completed as I had agreed/promised.
First of all, there were several dictators, several MTs on this account. I only worked two weeks at the most.
The fax continued on to say all monies would be sent out this week once they are paid from the doctor's office. Hmmm....what about the check you said you sent out on July 21 and a week ago today?
I could drive to get the check...it's three hours away. But who is say the check would be there just as it was in the mail two weeks ago??

Hello all...not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm sure the moderator will move it to the appropriate place if not.
A few weeks ago I did some work for a company located in the same state I reside. I was offered a raise and dedicated dictator to return to my former company. So, after completing the day's work, I sent it back with email stating I would not take more work and apologized profusely. I understand this was not professional and was told so.
However, checks were to be mailed out July 21. No check. Sent an email, was told another check would be mailed this past Monday. Seeing as how we are in the same state, four days is plenty of time to get a check. I still did not receive the first check supposedly mailed July 21.
I have faxed copies of all invoices to the company and turned this matter over to my attorney.
I am asking if there are any of you who had to go through this same process and how did you handle it? What, if anything, can I do in the future to avoid this?
Please do not ask me to name the company nor its owner. I'm not looking for a lawsuit from them, just want what belongs to me.
