However, my own experience in the hospital setting would be that the senior Transcriptionist turned the position down. That's not intended as a dig at your skills at all. However, in the "real" world, seniority reigns supreme when all other things are equal. As the CMT does nothing to actually enhance a skill level, you brought nothing more to the table than the other transcriptionist. The biggest supposed benefit of a CMT is mainly seen in the brochures hyping the course rather than out there working unless, as I mentioned, you are a fairly new transcriptionist...in which case it may add something to your resume.
