I would say to go with a computer based digital phone that has unlimited long distance, i.e. vonage, sage, time warner, etc.

NM confusing
I don't know about any of this. All this is so confusing. Just started looking here and am finding even trying to understand how to get into this to post a question very confusing, so think some people could be a little more patient and understanding.
Is confusing to me. SM
My hubby has this too and gets bonus in December, however, on the quarterly report for the 401K it shows employer match plus separate figure for profit sharing. So, I'm thinking the bonus is not the same as the profit sharing in his case.
Thanks, it is so confusing
and has plaqued me for many years and I have placed stickies about it in the past but can't seem to find them now in the mound of papers around my desk. I will try and keep this somewhere so I can find it!!!!
confusing
My interpretation was as I stated, just don't understand the fake resume etc. It seems though it was initiated by a US MT, but who knows there is always two sides. I just feel at this time with electronic records and our trarnscription there is nothing to protect MTs no matter where we work. A fair day's work deserves a fair day's pay for whomever.
Confusing
I never said everyone should live on what I make. I am comfortable and satisfied with how much I make. That is what the thread was talking about. To tell the truth, I don’t have to work but I still do because I love my work and it has been part of my life now for so many years. I read horror stories about people who retire and don’t live long after that and just like to make money, I guess. I was comfortable even BEFORE he and I married because years ago when I was divorced and raising my children did not let grass grow under me and worked as much as I needed to have what I wanted, nice vacations then too. I am satisfied, if youre not, then that is you.
I think you're confusing her with

It is confusing. But it's the only way to actually judge how much you are...
getting paid for the exact same amount of work. As long as you work with the same big block of text, it works perfectly.
th is is confusing. Can you clarify what you mean,
x
You are confusing your terms.
Software is the computer interface that allows you to perform a certain task, in this case, FTP software allows your computer to connect to an FTP site. If you're looking for an FTP site that is secure, you will more than likely have to pay for it. You can try www.ftptogo.com, although it is not free, it is a good site.
Your wording is confusing.
An IC would DO work for a clinic not work at and you would not resign as you are not an employee - that is an employee term. I would simply tell them you are cutting back on the amount of work you can handle. You control the amount of work - not them if you are truly an IC.
The new upgrade was confusing to me and I just
figured out that it was set to send it to QA automatically. So annoying. There are a lot of things being corrected in my reports that I know are right too.
Hope this does not sound too confusing
It is an IP address inside of an IP address. Basically when working with a VPN, you connect to a server. Once these 2 computers are connected, then you are sent to the next IP address within the original IP address. While there, a VPN constantly changes the IP address to make it very hard to break into.
Hope this helps :)
Boy, you guys are confusing. Are you talking to me or to her?

I'm not having a problem with my wrists. It's all the tendons in my fingers. Funny thing, I posted the message after having gone to Best Buy and clickey-clacking through all their keyboards. They are all stiff too. I am looking for something that you can just barely touch the keys so my tendons aren't so strained.
Excuse me for being confusing, lol. No pun intended. SM
Yes, I did mean vertical. I have no problem with adding to my favorites list or moving/organizing them where I want them. It's that the list has, somehow, re-arranged itself into alpha order.
The confusing part was that they acted as if
think they would be the very best themselves. I was so disappointed and upset by that experience that I felt apprehensive about the entire MT field after the mess was over. However, I did get a job and have been working for almost 4 years now in the field. I work for a small company. The owner tells me constantly how much she appreciates me and feels lucky to have me. --and I tell her the same thing! -and boy do I mean it. :)
I was not going to post anything about Toth, but the more I thought about it.... well, I also would not wany anyone to go through what I did.
your posts are confusing and vague, but--
I think what I am reading is that you have a computer now with only one plug in and that's for the monitor. You never specify if your pedal is a 9-pin, 15-pin, or USB. I can only assume that it is either a 9-pin or 15-pin, as somewhere in your posts, you stated that you DID have USB ports.
Ok, that being said, the pedal with the 9-pin or 15-pin needs what they call a *game port* in order to be plugged in. These *game ports* used to be on the sound card. *game ports* have pretty much become obsolete and opted for the USB ports as they are easy and simple. The lady below who said Google 9-pin to USB adaptor was correct. That is what you need. However, not all adaptors will work either, as the *pins* on the foot pedal are wired in such a way that one pin will make your left pedal work, another your right pedal work, etc. Alot of adaptors are not set up for that and still will not work. I had a 9-pin foot pedal as well, actually still do, packed away some where, which I never go to use as no adaptors would work. I purchased a USB pedal and will never get another 9-pin pedal again. These are *old* technology and pretty much obsolete now, as USB has taken over. You can try the adaptors, but don't get your hopes up. Some have luck with them, and some don't. If you go back to RS, write this down on a piece of paper... 9-pin to USB adaptor. and on a side note, the foot pedal will not work if you are looking for an adaptor for where the monitor plugs in. It is a totally different plug in. Radio Shack personnel are not up to speed on foot pedals and plug ins, trust me on that one. Most of them look at you like you're nuts anyway. Good luck!!!
Aren't you people confusing SS with disability?
I was under the impression that there was no limit on income when your retire on SS. But, there is a limit if you are on SS disability. And I believe that amount is around $900. However, if you are on disability, they also count how many hours you work. If you are making $900 or less, but working more than part-time hours (something like more than 16-20 hours), that could still disqualify you for disability. So, I'm confused on this too. But back to the SS retirement discussion, I thought back in the Clinton Administration, they passed legislation that made it more profitable for retirees to work once they started receiving their SS retirement. I was glad to hear this as many retirees want to work and they shouldn't be penalized. After all, the income taxe and SS taxe and Medicare tax goes into the big government kitty, so working retirees benefit everyone. I'm a believer in keeping retirees busy and bringing in income if they so wish. Well, Doxie, I am on your side. You asked a simple question and why some are beating up on you is puzzling to me. You asked a legitimate question. But if you really need to keep it at $900 or less, just divide your line rate into $900, take that answer and divide by four, and that will be the amount of lines you want to stay under per week. -
Venting-why do people keep putting nm and THEN writing a message?? nm means no message - sm
Please put sm if you have a message and NM if there is no message other than your subject line. It makes it easier when reading these messages. thanks so much and have a nice day everyone.

U R confusing official definition of professional with "popular" definition...sm
the official definition is those jobs like physicians, PA's, NP's, law, etc. Not something you do for a long time or what your job is. The popular definition for profession is what you do. Same thing with vocation, a official definition would hold to calling, such as clergy or nuns or missionaries... popular would say what's your job. So depends if you are looking for the popular definitions vs. the official definitions, though I will say some very ignorant people posting on the topic...
sm, see (or short) message, nm is no message.

sm-see message, nm-no message, ks-I think it's someone's initials.

any indication there is no need to waste time opening the post.
it is irritating also when people type through the subject line as well as the name line and then do not indicate if it is worth pursuing.
sm is see message not small message. I almost always
put NM or nt if there is no message, but quite a lot of people still open the posts as evidenced by the number of views.

You messed it up yourself. Why are you blaming the recruiter? Your test was not good. You prematurely sent in a resignation. Do you actually think it was someone else's fault?

Boy!!!! I'm glad I woke everyone up today; bet you feel more energized, don't you??? I am not making light of this horrible tragedy. I would have been devastated if it had been my son. There is a saying out there, "chance prefers the prepared mind"; in other words, at least think ahead and try to prepare; of course no one can be right about everything all the time. I have just seen and read about so many instances where the parents or "caretakers" of a child were negligent that resulted in irreparable harm to the child or children. I still cannot blame that driver without further info as to exactly how that happened. If I were driving that car and did not see that 2 year old and ran over him, I would actually be a victim as well because that is something I could never, ever forget!!

See where the X to close out the Word window is? Right next to the ruler bar for the margin there should be an up arrow (for scrolling). Right above that is a little line. Put your cursor on the line and move it up to the top.

You asked. I'm answering.
It's not worth it. Run away as fast as you can and find another profession.

My 15yo got this. Tried all OTC products. Nothing worked. She has very, very thick hair! Enough for 3-4 people. It is also below her mid back. We used Crisco oil and Joy dishwashing liquids. She slept with the Crisco oil on her head overnight (roughly 10 hours) and then we washed it out with Joy (OMG at the amount of nasty lil bugs in the tub!). Waited 10 days and did it again (mainly just for her to feel better). She has never had them again.

I know that years ago Dictaphone had a hand-controlled pedal which I had used. You might want to contact the Dictaphone Company and find out if this option is still available.
As far as I know, you cannot hook a C-phone pedal to your computer. However, I may be wrong about that; although I would think if it could be done it would be quite complicated.
Another option you might want to think about is to re-record your dictations to your computer and play them back as .wav files. This can be done through the sound recorder with a connection that you can buy at Radio Shack for about $20. I have done this in the past and though the sound quality was not the best, I could still hear and understand the dictations.

So, are there 15 openings because MTs have left? If so, that seems like a lot for just one hospital.

The spellchecker is Dorlands. It came with the hardback Dorland's Dictionary. The spellchecker came on a CD which you have to load into your computer. You also a password to get access to Dorlands.com for research, etc. I bought mine from Amazon, but I think 49.95 is the going price about anywhere.

my, but you are a vindictive person aren't you. Like I said, if you don't mind a background check, go for it.
If you hire a painter/plumber/handyman and do a background check, you will have to do the work yourself.
I'm out of here.
Been there. See message.
My son, now 15, had major problems with reflux when he was baby that wasn't "corrected" until he got really sick. He would vomit what appeared to be every ounce of formula he took in. The doctors told me to put rice cereal in his formula and then put him on his stomach on a bed pillow so that the formula would stay down.
Yeah, right. Just ended up washing more blankets and bed pillows. It wasn't until he was 5 months old that someone finally did something. Poor guy had pneumonia. We took him to the ER and he spent 4 days in the hospital. The diagnosis was pneumonia from aspiration. He was vomiting so hard that he was sucking the formula down into his lungs.
While at the hospital, he had a barium swallow ultrasound that showed that the opening into his stomach (sorry brain cramp for the med term) did not close after eating. They put him on Reglan (metoclopramide). I was told that this medication relaxes the spasms in the stomach opening so that it will close properly. I was told that most children will grow out of it before they are 3 and that some will have it longer or may require surgery. My son was on this medication until he was 5 or 6.
My son still gets occasional heartburn at 15, but it's very rare. It's usually when he eats something like a whole pepperoni pizza, which is to be expected.
Sorry I took so long, but my advice to you, if you haven't already done so, is to talk to your pediatrician about a gastro consult or ask your pediatrician to order a barium swallow, etc., etc. The medication your child is on only quiets the symptoms and obviously isn't curing the real problem.
As sick as your child is, there is something wrong with this picture.
Good luck!

I was more worried about the damage to my self rather than the computer. I live in the Ozarks (Missouri). I woke up yesterday with no power. Thankfully everything is still up and running, but living in MO, a surge protector is a great idea. Thanks everyone!!!

Check 'em out! I'm working on mine too for the same reasons you are.
There are better careers out there than one that:
1. Keeps you so isolated from the world that your only friends are cyber ones.
2. You have no way of budgeting because your pay is never the same twice, and not enough to live on in the first place.
3. You get no respect from employers or anyone else for that matter. "Oh, do you still have that little typing job of yours?"
I'm with you, sistah! This job is crap and I'm so outta here.
Best of luck!
