I use nothing but Sony headphones. I have the MDR-NC11 and paid 159.99 plus tax. About 45 days one side went out. I contacted place they were purchased and they did an exchange. I personally believe they went out because of the way I was taking them in and out of my ears. I only grab the hard plastic piece, not the wire now. My other Sony headphones are still ear bud type, but not noise canceling. When I have had problems, Sony has replaced them as long as it is within a year. Sometimes customer service can be a pain with all the questions related to the exchange, but oh well. I personally love them. Now that I saw where to purchase for $80, I am going to jump all over that to have a 2nd pair for backup. Good luck! I think each person has their preferences but I would not trade my headphones.
