and was not told about it before the fact - just that the account was switching over - was sent the e-mail about "rental" after the fact - then when the foot pedal broke they wanted to charge me for the replacement. Hello? It's a RENTAL??? I still work there but am branching out. It is not the norm.

Invoices. Does anyone have a good invoice software program they use other than MPCount invoice?
I am looking for something professional and easy to use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
10$ late if invoice is not paid within 10 days. At day 15 work stops until invoice is paid. Hardly

I just go alt+T and A.It's so automatic I don't even think about it. SM
That's to add a word though. You don't scroll down through your entries to use an AC, do you?
For the asterisk: Just write a macro. Go to a document that has an asterisk in it.
Tools/Macros/Record new macro (The little tape-looking icon comes on your screen. It's like turning on a recorder).
EDIT/FIND/*/enter then stop recording.
I think that's right. I've had mine for so many years that I can't really remember what it says. You can e-mail me if you have trouble with it.
Should be automatic but if not
I had trouble with mine but then I realized that I had not followed directions completely as I had not closed ALL my programs before installing it and once I did that again with all windows/programs closed worked great. If it is 2006 they suggest using the word "Rozerem" and "panitumumab" to check it. Good luck.
The UPS Store only allows the automatic $100 if you pay
them to package your stuff. I learned that one trying to ship equipment back to my former employer. I wasn't about the shell out even more money for them to box up something that I put back in the company's original box.

Automatic numberint
Hi everyone, can anyone tell me how to do automatic numbering after the number 9 so that from 10 on everything falls into place? I just got scolded because one trainer tells me to leave as is because when the report is printed out it aligns, and now someone else told me FIX THAT! Wow. I have no idea what to do.
no i'm glad i'm not the only one. I do have automatic
messed things up. They don't think about or care about things like that. My car payment is due tomorrow and i still don't have the money to pay it. thanks for listening.
automatic spacing
Hi,
If you have automatic spacing enabled in IT, it automatically inserts a tentative space after every expansion. If you then type a punctuation key, IT will then automatically jump back and remove that tentative space and insert the punctuation.
If you have both the built-in Expander in Chartnet enabled, along with IT, the two programs may conflict with each other so it would be best to disable the Chartnet expander while using IT.
Lastly, be sure you are using the latest release of IT which is 5.44 with a built date of May 2007 and if you are using Vista, make sure the User Account Control setting is disabled.

Automatic spacing in shorthand?
Does anyone know how to set up 2 spaces after a period and 2 spaces after a colon in ShortHand version 10? One poster here said that this: {@@key Bksp}. worked and it did not work for me. It worked once and then it erased the last letter as it put in the spaces.
Also Microsoft Word 2000 doesn't seem to have a spacing feature unless I am not looking in the right spot. Wish I had IT as everyone says that is a no brainer to use and setup. TIA.
Snomed is an automatic coding system...
for pathology. If you Google Snomed coding there is some info. I'm sure in the future there will be automated coding.
Does Dictatphone Ex-Text have automatic save as you are typing?
Thanks.
Do away with automatic numbered list. See inside steps.
Tools, Autocorrect, AutoFormat as you Type, uncheck Automatic Numbered Lists.
Oh, I thought it was an automatic thing on computers these days.
Maybe my hubby set ours up to do it; I'm not sure. It would be under START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS, then choose SYSTEM RESTORE.
Then it would ask you what date you want to restore to.
Something great-- Using Google-- set to use the automatic function of completing the search
For anyone like myself who never used the automatic completion function of Google, IT IS GREAT.
I just started using it, and when I typed in like the first 2 words of something I had never heard before, like say you were typing "sphincter of", then sphincter of Oddi would be one of the choices that Google would automatically bring up.
This is so great! What a time saver. Try it.
Someone with more tech expertise can maybe say how to set the settings so the Google automatic completion comes on. sometimes it would be there and sometimes not, but I downloaded some add-on for Firefox that makes it always there. It was the "Customize Google" add-on for Firefox.
So, if you are using Firefox (Mozilla) browser, go to the add-on page (Google it) and then download the "Customize Google" add-on and then set the settings. I think this was the most useful. There is a way to set it from Google, but it kept not working somehow, the settings would go away.
Other downloads I have used-- other Firefox add-ons that I found helpful: Adblock Plus. Google Toolbar for Firefox (different than Customize Google), and Auto Copy. -- Auto Copy will automatically put whatever you select on a Web sit onto your clipboard, so you can paste it right into the document.
Hope someone finds this all helpful. Thanks for all your gals' help over the years. I have learned a lot and got a lot of tips, and so wanted to post this.
Pay deduction with DQS
Well, when I started DQS, I was told by the regional manager I would increase my pay with this program so they were cutting everyone's pay who was transitioning to DQS because of that..So my pay was cut three quarters of a cent per line. I agreed, thinking this was happening to everyone. Well, MQ tried this for a while until a few brave souls quit and others threatened to quit due to the reduction in pay. Now, mind you, I have not had a raise since 1998 and yet they chose to decrease my pay. Even though they have stopped this decision of decreasing pay of people transitioning to DQS, I remain at the deducted pay rate. Do you think I have an argument to try to get my pay rate back?
25% deduction
So, I'm not real clear, are you saying you are a statutory status worker and thus federal is deducted which is what ?? 25% and is withheld. If you were and IC independent contractor, nothing is withheld and you send in the taxes on your own. . Employee and statutory have all or some taxes taken out.
Another Deduction (sorry)
So sorry, I forgot one of the most important deductions, your IRA or SEP IRA,your accountant will know which is best -- this was something my accountant insisted I do years ago; now they are worth "plenty" and I am so grateful to him for insisting I do this. It's all deductible and a wonderful way to save for your retirement.
Get a tax guy, his fee is deduction. FYI, if you

Deduction is 100%, not 50.

100% deduction for me too as IC.

Need help with invoice...
Does anyone have any samples or know where I can obtain some. I have looked everywhere. I did a fill-in transcription job for the past week and now I need to submit an invoice, but I have never done one. Please help!!!
No, you don't have to invoice.
No, you don't have to invoice. They take the lines from the line counter which I have been having trouble with lately, don't know about you. It seems like I am doing an awful lot more work than getting credit for.
Their invoice
Did you use their invoice form? If not, he will not pay nor contact you saying why.
That 08/16 invoice was my last one...
She is in Florida and I'm not, so I can't stop by in person. I don't have her phone number, but I can probably find it. Maybe that's what I'll try.
Invoice only
I use Syncount for my character accounts and MS word for gross line accounts. I like Quick Books because I keep my checking account on it, invoicing, etc. It shows me where I am at anytime during the year compared to last year, etc. Just helps in tracking expenses and income.
Invoice
I use Quick Books to do my invoice and do a total for each doctor in the clinic (one line each) it automatically put in the per line charge and enters th entire charge. I also keet a spreas sheet for my 5 accounts (9 docs) and update it sometimes daily or weekly but keep track by day. Since some accounts are charged different rates it keeps track of my monthly income and I can project by the 15th whether or not I will be able to eat the next month. I then highlight each clinic at the end of the month and attach it to their invoce. My accounts like that as it shows what doctor did on each day. In my 18 years of doing this have never been questioned on any of my invoices.
Patti
Invoice
I keep a spread sheet going in Excel showing by date and doctor (I have 3 clinics, 6 docs) their daily line counts. I do my invoices in Quick Books showing monthly totals by doctor for that clinic taken from my spreadsheet and print a copy of the spread sheet -- showing only their line counts and attach it. I like the spreadsheet as it tells me if I am on target for the month, etc. The Quick Book keeps my totals for tax time. As I have said many time, the simpler for me the more time I can spend typing making money. Any more questions, E-mail me and I will try and help with more details. Patti
about deduction from mortage
You seem to know quite a bit about this. I have rented in the past and so always deducted proportionally off my rent. I was under the impression there were some not so favorable consequences about deducting off home mortgage, which would be my situation this year, something about having to ante up somehow after you sell the house for the deductions you claimed, depreciating, etc. Can you clarify this any for me or refer me to a site that would explain this in "simple" :-) terms that I could understand? Not sure what I should do this year!!
Office deduction
I can use the money now more than I expect to need it later, as property values continue to go up. Also, after so many years of NOT claiming office deduction, isn't that penalty withdrawn?
Isn't the standard deduction much more than $2K? nm
x
I think you just don't take the deduction for it the year before...ask your CPA
x
the SEP IRA is a huge deduction...
but I can't say that I've seen people frequently posting they take $10K in deductions. That also means they spent $10K. You may be imagining that. Maybe do an archive search and then try to repost and contact them? As has been frequently said on this post, the only difference between IC and SE is an IC pays another 7.5% self employment tax but then takes deductions. Don't see how that adds up to 10 grand.
Deduction in pay for errors....
I was just offered a job at a measly 8 cpl after I took this ridiculously long and time consuming test. I get an email with FAQ and there is a whole section about how much they are going to deduct from your pay for errors. Someone over there has a screw loose. I wish I had not wasted my time. I already have one account that I make about 12 cpl, but I just lost one due to outsourcing, where I started at 9 cpl. I love my first account, but I always like to have 2 just for backup. I so far have been offered 7-1/2 cpl, 7 cpl and 8 cpl. I turned them all down. These people are crazy! If you want a good transcriptionist, PAY FOR IT!!!!
HomeOffice Deduction
Can I deduct my home office if I live with a roommate and am not on the lease? I have a room that is used solely for my office.
Sorry, but no 'blanket' 100% deduction
First, forget about a catastrophic illness - if you have a gallbladder or appendix, you can lose your home, right down to just keeping the shirt on your back. I know this for a fact because it happened to me.
Secondly, I fell into the insurance premiums are 100% covered trap personally (2006/2007). When my accountant actually did my taxes and explained the formula used for determining how much of insurance premiums (and out-of-pocket expenses) are figured, my deduction ended up less than 50% of my oop amount. I was disbelieving and demanded my accountant prove this, so they called the IRS and believe me, they proved it. If someone tells you, without reviewing the details of your estimated premium/OOP yearly costs and estimated yearly earnings, that your premiums will be automatically 100% deductible, they do not know what they are talking about. My point is not to be argumentative, it is to remind you that guessing without expert advice about your personal situation can be very costly. Learn from those of us who have paid dearly for poor judgement and bad advice.
Your standard deduction -
Do you have other things to count such as mortgage interest, etc? If you don't, then yes, your standard deduction would be the better deal.
I just finished a personal income tax preparation class in my accounting program in college. I always thought I was doing something with those deductions too until I took this class. Went back and looked at my old returns and lo and behold, always just took the standard deduction.
Personally, I am just upset that I took so much time keeping up with all those receipts and so forth!!!

Dummy invoice on its way. :) (nm)
I have always done it on invoice and letter
One letter and a reminder at the bottom of the invoice. The letter should state the expenses issue if you don't feel that was taken into consideration before. :)
Invoice program
Has anyone tried Quickbooks Simple Edition 2007. If so, do you like it?
Since you are an IC, don't you submit an invoice that...SM
your client should pay you from? If that isn't how you're doing it, then you are an employee NOT an IC. You are at the mercy of the MTSO.
transfer & invoice
I use PractiCount for line counting & invoicing. I've used Sylvan as well & I think PractiCount is way superior, plus it's cheaper. For one thing, you can drag & drop from a file tree. All the files you are counting don't have to be in the same folder. I found this annoying with Sylvan. PractiCount does everything Sylvan does, and then some, only better.

Can you take home office deduction if you are sm
an employee and how would one guestimate if they would qualify? Looking into this option this year.
Home office deduction
No, but unreimbursed work-related expenses may be deduced on Schedule A.
nix the home office deduction
If you plan on selling your house later on. The deductions you claimed in previous years will be lost when you try to sell. So, if you were planning on selling for $150,000, but you claimed $500 a year in home-office deductions, per year, over ten years, that's $5000 you'll lose out at the end.
Rephrase Deduction Question
I am considered an at-home employee. Not an IC or statutory. I have no itemized expenses to carry forward on the 1040. I take the standard deduction because don't have enough to itemize. My CPA says because of that, I cannot deduct my MT expenses. It does not seem quite fair. Has anybody else had this problem?
get an accountant -- you can take off their fee as a tax deduction and to me, it's worth it to ma
sure my taxes go in quarterly and correctly so that I don't get slammed at the end of the year!
Home Office Deduction
I rent my apartment. I have a home office, which is a room used soley for the purpose of an office, which is the restriction, cannot be part of living room, etc. I deduct portion of rent, all supplies, telephone, cell phone, electric, gas, and oil heat. I don't think your name has to be on the lease, just that you live there and use that room solely as an office. Also, if you travel to and from your job you can deduct mileage, oh and internet connection, which I use mainly for work. Hope that helps you.
