What exactly are you doing to make the world a better place? Discussing the killing of dogs in another country sure does help, yeah, uh huh...get over yourself

You are one paranoid woman (?), rather obsessing over cherrypicking.
Her post had not the slightest to do with cherrypicking, you have egg on your face, and you SHOULD apologize. Though I doubt you will, as you get to hide behind your anonymity.
This actually looks do-able. I haven't dieted since a teen. Hated obsessing about food.

Oh, but THEY all have rights, you know
We can't abuse the rights of all the child molesters and other criminals, but the rest of us are just out of luck. I have a VERY permanent solution for them--it involves a pair of very rusty and dull pinking shears-- use your imagination.
FTP rights
you might want to have your employer check your logon for the FTP site -- they may not have given you rights to delete files. Simple change on their end.
The merchants would be within their rights
to pursue a criminal complaint against the bad check writers. Posting the bad checks is mild punishment by comparison. Your friend should feel relieved not to be going to jail. Bad checks are theft. I'm with the business people. Irresponsible bad-check writers raise prices and fees for honest, financially responsible people. If this were my friend, I'd be reconsidering the friendship.
renters have rights
Ask for a copy of the bill from the cleaning company they hired to clean it. If you had a pet, carpet cleaning comes out the nonrefundable pet deposit. Typically, if you have lived in a place for more than 2 years, the mgmt company has to replace the carpet and repaint the walls anway. Check it out in your state and local community. They have to have a bill for the 160 dollars. They can't just charge fictitious amounts and have their own people do it.
There's really nothing wrong with that at all. She had the same rights as everybody else. nm

employee rights
The hospital I work for has called the at home Transcriptionist and told them if they do not meet a 1000 line a day line, with a 10,0000 line pay period they would suspend us for three days, the next time is termination. They also have out sourced alot of the work that has recently been dictated. My question where do I find legal advice for my line of work. I am a full time employee, I recieve insurance and retirement, they tell us when we have to work, adding onto our schedule, then tell us we have to work weekends and holidays to lower the count. We do not receive overtime, holiday pay, vacation time, or sick time. With us being a full time employee, we have also been by passed when across the board raises have been given to other full time employees. I just want to know what the in home transcriptionist legal rights are and don't know where to find them. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
A question regarding patients' rights
I was just wondering this. My mother was recently sent to a "liver specialist" who is local gastrointestinal doctor because of concern over persistently elevated liver function tests. He drew a LOT of blood work on her and only told her that it looks like she might have a fatty liver. He set her up to come back in six weeks to "get the results of her lab tests." SIX WEEKS! With her being very concerned, of course, we immediately searched the net and found out that fatty liver occurs in patients 1). who drink alcohol (she never has), 2). Patients who are overweight (she is not) or 3). Patients with diabetes (she hasn't got that, either). It says that a liver biopsy is how they find this out. He never mentioned doing one of those. My question is.. would a physician want to wait 6 weeks to find out lab results? You know it doesn't take 6 weeks to get the results back, they probably had them back within a day or two. In the meantime, she is stressing big time about what could be wrong.
Help needed...are there any rights/repercussions for an IC...
who was fired after a year of employment as an IC? No warning was given. IC had a problem with TAT one day, rather than MTSO firing that day, waited a week and then was just let go. Is there any way to apply for unemployment....any rights at all for an IC? Now I will have no income until next job starts. I have a family to support and bills that are due. Wow, I am just so surprised!!
Animals have more rights than babies do!

DeVenture & Human Rights
You may want to check out the Bangor Daily News online State page for August 7 of this week. President, Michael Deville was found liable for employee discrimination. Sounds like a great place to work. In addition, that manager you are speaking of most likely has no backbone when it comes to standing up when it's require of her.
Of course, I know who owns rights to all my software.
You should also know and understand licensing rights. I also want to give my money to the right people.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS-LINES, TIME, PTO
Face it - the nationals are going to outsource alot more. We are no longer immune to the economy. They are just waiting for some of you to leave - and you will. Using your PTO now (at their convenience) just means they don't have to pay it to you later. You can not FIRE someone for lack of performance if there is a lack of work. The number one eligibility for worker's comp is lack of work and the nationals certainly can't deny that. If your income has been cut by one-third for 60 days or more, there are better incomes out there (maybe not with nationals), but the American companies do provide good pay, steady work, and understand and respect your rights as a worker. If it is unemployment you want, do not quit. Find out now how it works in your state. There is about a week's waiting period. You only get about 50% of your income for anywhere from 13-26 weeks.
For those of you who have no choice except to stay - do some research. If you are full time with good performance records, benefits, and PTO - your job is just as legitimate as if you worked in a factory or any institution in YOUR state. Your job has to be defined - hours, work, etc. If your company is not supplying the work, then that changes your job definition. There are laws in every state to protect you as a worker. Know them. They can be different state to state. Remember, standing up for your rights may get you layed off and unemployment only lasts about 6 months.
You would do all MTs a favor if you shared some of your research here on different state laws and better companies to work for.
i'd definitely complain, stand up for your rights to be paid. if you don't say anything, it w

Is rad a whole different animal (sm)
when it comes to transcribing it? I would like to expand my specialties, but have never done rad before. Any info would be appreciated! Also, can it be learned just by doing, or would I need more thorough training, i.e.; more schoolin'?
I love to see people exercise their minds (and their rights)...will check it out...
Thank you, for sharing...
After all, if no one would have stood up years ago, we would still be called the 'typing pool' and making probably $7/hour, AND answering phones, filing, etc.
AAMT did have a huge role in that happening, but I have not seen them do anything for the American MT in a very long time.
According to the Advance Health mag (which is turning into a 'rag' in my opinion), their latest article is how MTs with disabilities are now being trained in INDIA...and elsewhere overseas, and just how wonderful and joyous that all is - !?#@$#@
Sisters, it is TIME we do something and take a stand.

Please note my response to your query waaaay below where the original thread started, again thanks for your interest.
animal update
i am the OP on thread below re CRUELTY CLARIFICATION and just wanted to say thank you to all who responded .... have not recently come across a such a large, and largely POLITE - WOW!!!!!! -- and informative group in a long time. this information will stay with me for a long time and i plan to share it with others. did not know how ignorant i was. am not by any means a bleeding heart. it's a tough world and you have to be tough -- but the way we apparently treat these animals in the year 2005 is PATHETIC, just pathetic, and there is simply no need for it.
to those who say 'but this is a consumer-driven industry," yep you are right, but you know what? consumers like to be INFORMED. we don't like to feel that someone or some entity is trying to pull a fast one on us, and i STRONGLY feel that if every child in america -- and the child's uninformed parents and grandparents -- KNEW the real deal, the pressure would be on IMMEDIATELY and things would change in the industry faster than martha stewart's gonna get out of her ankle bracelet. Before anyone says Yeah but there goes the economy, well i don't think so because if i knew that i could get chix at the store from happy chickens versus what we are 'offered' now, as well as happy cow meat (look at how successful the California dairy industry has been on their little ad campaign, hmmmmm?) vs what we have now, i'd be willing to pay more. not double, but more! i think anyone except the poorest of the poor would, too. and the same government that is subsidizing the cruel farm animal conditions could subsidize the poor for their better quality meat, instead.
anyway, those are my thoughts. i really really appreciate all of you smart people telling me something i didn't know, and that's no bull. great big kudos to all of you who kept the thread polite, too. 'night.

why keep your animal on a chain 24/7
Going off topic from your cat post for a minute... I never understood that..especially with dogs. I think it is cruel for a dog to be chained 24/7 with someone who will rarely walk it.
As far as your cat, we have had outside cats since I was a little girl and they always came back. In fact, I had one (an old "barn cat") that would leave for months at a time lol and come back.
Keep your hopes up and don't stop looking!
Animal question...sm
I was always under the impression that cats had to be at least 6 months old before they could be "fixed". I was on the SPCA website for our area last evening reading their info and it said kittens older than 6 weeks must be spade or neutered within 6 weeks of adoption. Isn't that a little young?
Just curious.
Animal contacts
If you are in need of a veterinary ophthalmologist, it is best to check with your local vet to see if there is one in the area. Animals do not wear contacts for the obvious reasons. Instead, they get lens transplants from donor animals that were healthy when euthanized (sad I know). There are also Doggles sun glasses that dogs wear.
If you are an animal lover - then please don't take Prempro - sm
I worked in a gynecologist's office for 8 years. It was beyond dispicable when the Wyeth drug rep would come in. This was at the time when TV shows were always doing the "hidden camera" things - and of course, the pregnant horses, abuse, catheterizing, etc. This also came at a time when drug reps were no longer allowed to use company money to take docs on trips, expensive dinners, theater tickets, etc. Needless to say, our Wyeth rep made a bundle off of Premarin and Prempro and to make up for all the media hype, she was going to all the gyn docs and sending them on trips, spa packages for their wives, nice dinners, etc. And the docs kept prescribing it.
Agree...no animal has to suffer for me...
I have been using the wild yam - so far, so good. ?
fellow animal lovers/MTs
boycott Iams pet food - they have been charged of horrible animal cruelty in testing their food, see web site below.

Call Animal control
Okay then, should you kill every animal that scares you be it a dog or - sm
or a cat....does not make sense. They are animals, they just want to be left alone. Some people scare me sometimes, should I go out and shoot them? People need to be a bit more tolerant. I am not a huge fan of snakes either but I will never understand the killing of any animal unless it is for food or if the animal attacks.

Just copy and paste into your browser (with whatever video player you have)...
Do not get side-tracked with your feeling about peta...
One is narrated by Alec Baldwin. (I have mixed feelings about peta, but these videos do not lie, and if you research for yourself you realize the government more and more allows this hideous behavior to SAVE money - again, it is all about the money).
I have watched it once, and half with my eyes closed. Call me whatever you like, but I sobbed at the cruelty.
The other is about a (huge) grocery chain we have here in WNY.
A few months ago I became a vegetarian to lose weight...but still ate eggs, cheese, some poultry.
Since the day I watched these videos, because of my conscience, I have not touched a piece of meat or poultry.
I refuse to contribute to this inhumanity, no matter how it is justified...

There is a natural order in the animal world
that does not include mankind. Those animals which are debilitated, old or very young become food for other carnivorous animals. It is population control and also keeps disease at bay as the animals carrying disease are attacks, killed and taken out of the picture. Also, stops bad blood lines as those animals with hip dysplasia from in breeding or the weak and runts are also food for the natural predator.
Thank you for not making fun of me. I just wasn't sure which part of the animal it was and what

posters you can buy, as well...
not sure about you, but we have several wild animal care and education centers...
The best way to start is to volunteer.
We have like Messinger Woods and Hawk Creek around here, like animal sanctuaries, where they have owls, eagles, deer, all sort of animals they need to take care of. You can always visit one and ask questions. I would love that, too, only I can not get my boyfriend interested. I would love to even volunteer.
Sounds funny, but what about a zoo...same thing, you can volunteer at first, see if you like it, and I believe those positions offer decent pay...?
I would spend whatever it takes to keep my " animal kids" healthy. nm

report on companion animal pet food ingredients

Check these out if you want to learn more, shocking!!!
re: report on companion animal pet food ingredients
The book "Food Pets Die For" is an excellent. I have been feeding my goldens and Shelties Innova since 1996 or 1997. I now feed Canidae Platinum as it is lower in calories. They all did quite well on both dog foods...shinny coat, bright eyes...in other words, they are healthy looking. No preservatives are in either food so it does have a shorter shelf life than the regular dog kibbe.
My dogs also have marrow bones every night. Some of my friends feed a BARF diet (bones and raw food) only, but I just could not keep that diet up on a regular basis.
A good magazine to subscribe to is the Whole Dog Journal.. www.whole-dog-journal.com/ it is like a "bible" for any one who is interested in the natural way to care and feed dogs. I believe there is a Whole Cat Journal, too.
Usually years. Were you given a used one, full of animal hair, dust, or

I'll be watching Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet!

That sounds like an episode of Animal Cops! I'm glad it worked out in your favor. nm
Its not the animal lovers fault about abortion and abuse of innocent children, it's the fault...
of our government to allow such a law. The innocent dogs being killed over the so-called rabies roundup vs. shortage of "beef" have no government to help protect their rights to live so the humans have to step in and protect their rights and the humans should protect the human's rights as well to live, but when a government passes laws, etc., you can only fault the government; afterall, they have the final decision.
Contract/no contract -- same rights
You do not have to have a written contract to take them to court. All you have to do is to prove you have been providing work to him, past statements/invoice will do that, you just fill out the small claims forms and go to court. But first of all I would personally go in and talk with someone about it. Could be the office manager/bookkeeper and not the doctor that is not paying you. He may not know anything about it. And please do not make the "joke" as above mentioned, that is very LOW class, tacky and not professional at all. Especially if you are in a small area -- you need to conduct like a professional. But call and make an "appointment" to talk with the doctor either in person or through a phone call. Some doctors do not know what is going on in their office and perhaps the office manager wants to be paid first. If the doctor does know, then in person or over the telephone inform him that you have no other choice but to pursue the debt just as they would if someone did not pay their bill and if that involves going to small claims court, then that is the route you must take. Good luck. I did take one to court without a contract and won.
