I just went on ebay, got digital units for my docs and they paid for these---hand held units all work the way they have been accustomed to in the past with the side sliding bar, up and down. Just make sure you have program that is compatible, e.g. same brand, whether it is Dictaphone, Philips, or whatever. They email it to me daily, all four docs....very nice not to drive back and forth any longer, cuz I can just email them back to them.
