I find that downloading FTP file slows me down. Could just be me though. I prefer an actual platform.

Software Platform

Can anyone tell me what transcription platform they are transcribing on and if you like it.  I am trying to find a good platform for my company and would like advice from the people who do the work.

Thanks

question on platform and software
I have rented a computer for so long with my company that I need a question answered.  If you have your own computer that has XP on it and you go to work for a company whose platform is not yet compatable for vista, but they upgrade later on down the road and it is compatable for vista does that mean you have to upgrade also?  TIA.
I'm not looking for software. Just want some test files for someone to

Dictaphone is the software platform. You actually transcribe
in Extext and Transnet is where your get your audio - like below poster said. I have my audio go thru transnet and then to ExpressScribe where I use by USB foot pedal. Dictaphone sells a foot pedal for $40 - which you may be able to use - but it did not rewind on the right like I needed so had to use my own existing foot pedal.
Software to auto-print files

"Isn't there some way to have the files print when I get them?"

Many offices voice this wish, and Emmaus is pleased to announce an affordable solution ($49).

When the office receives transcription (via email, ftp download, or PC Anywhere), they put those files into the folder they've told MPMonitor and Print to watch. These files can be Word documents or password protected zip files. MPMonitor and Print will unzip if necessary and print using the user's copy of MS Word.

Best wishes,
Vann Joe Turner

Just keep in mind that you have to have software to upload the files to you.

Cheap handheld units sold on ebay do not offer that.  Those mentioned are older models and do not have the software to upload to FTP.  No offense to the last poster, but the handheld units that do have software to upload to FTP are newer models and cost more.

You're also taking your chances buying on ebay, so OP, whatever you decide to do, make sure to only buy from Powersellers or sellers with no less than a 98 rating.

software to transfer files quick
Is there any software out there that is cheap and transfers my files easy, as I am running out of space on my computer and would like to transfer them to a cd disc for each year.  I already created the folders.  Any help would be appreciated.
Looking for Software to Organize Digital Voice Files

Anyone know of good software that can take my digital voice files and organize them so I can keep track of which worker is working on which doctor, keep an eye on turnaround time, etc. -- instead of making endless folders on the computer myself. Voice files are separate from the typed reports, which are done in Word. Thank you.

Dave

A WAV pedal controls playback of voice files. You need a software program through which to play the

The term "WAV pedal" has become a generic term. The software that you use will determine the file type(s) that you are able to play on your computer. You use either a pedal or hot keys (Fkeys) to control that playback. As stated below, Express Scribe is one such software program and it is free. It can be found by clicking on the link below.

Found the original post about the Olympus WS110 - do I need olympus software to convert the files?

May I ask what exceptional company
.
Folks on here exceptional!
thanks so much for that!
My understanding is that some can do exceptional
line rates on certain platforms.  My understanding is that Escription has speech compression technology that will allow the speech to be played at a faster rate without resorting to chipmonk voices.  I have heard of people doing 600-800 lph consistently with that platform, even 1200 on occasion if you get a good streak going.  I've not used Escription, the only VR experience I have is with Dictaphone's Turbo speech product and there are some who use that and produce 500 lph over a 40-hour week; however, they are not able to do that consistently.  My issue with speech is that you tend to get on autopilot and you don't have the same brain control as far as hearing the words and having them flow through your fingertips, making you in control of what is coming out.  It is way to easy to "think" that you are reading what you are hearing.  Also, it's much easier to rely on the speech to have put out the correct spelling on something you're not sure about.  Transcriptionists are much more likely to look up something that they don't know when the word is not already staring at them on the screen.  It can make us more productive, but it also compromises the integrity of the finished product.  However, it's really hard to put the worms back in the can after they have already been opened up.  What troubles me the most is that the organization that is supposed to promote and support our industry and it's workers seems much more interested in jumping into bed with the MTSOs and the employers than their members.  I am so consciencious about my work.  My knowledge is worth something.  Accurately delivering a timely quality document is worth much more to the revenue cycle than it is given credit for.  I have absolutely no doubt that I could much more easily be taught to code the finished report than a coder could be taught to accurately transcribe the report, yet they are given much more respect because they are ultimately responsible for the revenue.  However, without me doing my job to the best of my ability....there is nothing their for them to work from.  Okay....I'm off topic now.  Sorry about that.  The whole ASR/EMR (point and click) stuff has me ready to pull out my hair.  If you want to really see an ugly, inaccurate, and highly unprofessional report....look for one that a doctor, NP, or PA has created for themselves.  Nothing is capitalized, spelled correctly, or punctuated as it should be.  The whole dern thing process needs to be looked at, analyzed, and the MTs who don't have the skills need to be weeded out or have some retraining.  The knowledge and the understanding of what we do (for those who take pride in what goes out with their initials on it) needs to be recognized for the value that it adds to the revenue process AND we need to be compensated accordingly.
not absurd, just extremely exceptional,

I would think it is why bonuses are offered. If it for an exceptional job or for working above
and beyond what is expected, then I don't think it is unfair. My company offers bonuses to those who, for 4 consecutive pay periods, meet certain line production and quality. Nothing unfair about that, as long as you know what the criteria is.
MTSO with platform versus no platform (big message)

If a MTSO advertises that the MT works in MS Word and sends dictation by FTP, does this usually mean there will be no demographic/doctor database and the demographics will not be autopopulated?

I got into a mess with a small company (got out real quickly too).  I was required to print out daily email copies of the doctors' office patient schedules (which were barely legible) and type in all information.  I spent more time hunting for the correct patient through pages and pages of these schedules.  Then I had about 25 pages worth of doctor's names that I would have to go through to find the attending, referring, etc.  A total waste of time as I didn’t get paid for that.

I wish MTSO would give more information as to what platform they use (if any).  Proprietary software is such a generic, totally useless description.  Would they buy a new car that listed, "Car has gasoline operated motor?"

And for Pete's sakes, why so secretive about the pay?  Give a ballpark figure.  Just say, pay is between 7-12 cpl depending on skill, testing, etc. Tell me if you pay for spaces, headers, etc.  It would save them time because I wouldn’t even apply for a 7 cpl job.

Before I spend an hour or two testing, I need more information from a company to be sure it is compatible for my needs.  If the MTSO would spend a little time on their website detailing their platform, how they send/receive files, pay rates,  how line rate is determined (spaces/no spaces) employee/IC/SE status, minimal line count, whether work pools consist of 100s of doctors, or smaller pools with 25-50 doctors etc.   Having all this information on their website would save them time and the MTs time.   Phoenix Medcom has a really good layout describing pretty much everything an MT would want to know before testing with them.  I am just tired of testing with a company and then finding out the job wasn’t exactly suited to my needs.

Yeah, you're right. Who cares who licenses your software? Heck, I use all pirated software anyw

why pay for anything, right?

Except that is AGAINST THE LAW!!!

Converting voice files to digital files

I have a Voice Solutions dictation system that will happily convert DS4000 voice files to digital when they are downloaded (wave files). However, it will not recognize any other files for conversion. I had a physician download .WAM files from his DS-30 and my dictation system would not convert it. Anyone have any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!!!

A friend of mine got one and she is finding that some of her software, specifically her ISP software

Platform versus non-platform (templates)?

I've been working for MTSOs for years now, using their templates which sometimes cause productivity problems (macro issues, etc). I'm wondering if productivity is increased when working on a structured platform, such as one that a national company provides for its transcriptionists?  I've never used a platform, but it would seem that all one needs to do is straight type onto the screen and the platform program takes care of margins, page breaks, etc?

Any thoughts (as well as companies who are hiring who use platforms) would be appreciated.  Thanks

If u need server software, try guild ftp. If just user software
then try cuteftp, coffeecupftp, or wsftp. They don't charge a line rate and I believe guildftp server software is still free.
Did you save files in .rtf format? The files need to be
as a Word document or it won't count them. Could be the problem.
Most companies do no use their only files (HIPAA). They use files provided by other companies, serv
If you can get through the test files, then the sound quality on the actual company files is better. And, the dictation is never as bad as the test files, plus you have QA to help with hard blanks.
Another big factor is software. If the software isn't
transcription friendly, it can really hurt your bottom line.

Otherwise, $1.20 per report is a pretty decent rate for radiology.

Good luck - hope it works out for you.
platform?
on my platform you can do a control/+ (the one near the backspace) to enlarge the text...
What platform do you use?

I am bored, and trying to get aquanited to the boards, so I am posting a little spree here.

What platform do you use?  I use Extext by Dictaphone.  Like it so far.

How can they tell? Which platform?
Besides, it's not canned text.  LOL  That's a feature in Meditech.  If you use an expander, it's an "expansion".  Those are two different things there.  Isn't it open to interpretation?  If I were in your shoes, I'd download the trial version of ShortHand just to see if it worked and to see if they could detect it.  It's asinine to not be able to use expanders.  Why wouldn't the company want the work done faster and potentially more accurately?  I know there are some really long words that I have to stop to remember how to spell, so those are in my expander.
WOW!! Do you really think that? Platform is what
is used to type. You must be new to the biz. Also you cannot work for Amphion. You would know if you did.
Different platform
I'm w/ Baltimore office, still working on INET. Hearing that won't be for long, not many accounts left on it.
EP-1 Platform
Can anyone tell me about the EP-1 platform for spheris?
what platform is it that they use?
was it easy to learn?
New platform?
Perhaps the platforms should offer grammar checks as well then.......hmmmmm. UH OH, perhaps we just opened up a can of worms!
What platform are you?
Sounds like you have ideas worth sharing with whomever designed the platform.
MDI-FL has a platform
I worked for them earlier this year. I now cannot remember the name of it. It seems like something that would have been used in the 70s or 80s. I don't know if they use it on all of their accounts, but I had a very hard time with it. It took too long to search for the patient and MD data...it also froze up on me many times and I would have to restart my computer which caused me to lose all lines I had typed. I absolutely hated it. Horrible spell checker.

I now work for Sten-Tel who has a 'word' based internet platform called EditScript which is a breeze. I love it and have never had any problems with it.
New Platform...SM

I started on a new platform about two weeks ago and am finding it HORRIBLE!

I normally get between 130-170 lph, depending on dictators.  Today I worked four hours and had 200 lines

It is a word-based platform.  To put in a QA marker you put in spaces, highlight them change screens, use the mouse (no shortcut keys) click add, save, and then back to your screen.  To remove a QA marker, you have to change screens, use mouse click on QA marker number, and then click delete...  You also have to do this to look up or edit doctors, patient info...

In all honesty from anyone who has worked on such a platform, WILL I GET FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP MY CHILDREN FROM STARVING?

Thanks in advance

new platform
what's the name of the platform?
MTS platform
Does anyone know who uses MTs platform?
What is the platform like??
I get paid hourly ($15), so the platform doesn't really matter that much. Would you mind telling me about how much that rounds out to an hour? Just wondering if I'm making the right amount or if I should look elsewhere. Thanks.
is a platform...
i using express scribe and have been reading here about platforms, is express scribe considered a platform?  I have did MT for over ten years in an office setting but this is my 1st at home position and am unfamiliar with the platform. In the office setting we only used microcassettes and typed verbatim. So please forgive my ignorance in this realm.  Would someone be willing to explain or give an example.  I would appreciate it. I like to be knowledgable in the aspects of mt and feel you're never too old to be knowledgable. Thanks!!
Platform

Is anyone familiar with a platform called Medquist Cquence?  The service I work for has a client who uses this.  I am having a particularly difficult time learning this system.  Would you care to share what you think of it.  Is it worth the time spent in learning it, and once you do learn it, do you get a decent line count?

TIA

Anyone know MD-IT's platform?

Do you know what the platform is? nm

Platform...
Platforms are simply the different software that companies use to transcribe and edit their documents. Each company has their own "platform."
Platform that will allow you to do this
We have a platform that allows you to do this.  The platform allows you to type and then it sends the completed report to an ASP platform that the users will have their own logins and can access any report via a secure site on the internet.  If you want more information, please email me at amy.newton@medcoretech.com.  We only charge per line, no setup fees, no monthly minumums.  We have tons of MTSOs and clients that use our system.  I hope that helps.  Thanks,
MTS Platform
Is Express Scribe better than Transcription Gear or Bytescribe - even though you have to pay. And how about ExText - can that be purchased?
What platform is it if you use your
own computer? Do they have editscript or anything like it? Do you know what the line rates basically run and how good the incentives are? Is the work steady? I'm just looking for a good decent place to work that won't cheat me or make it almost impossible to actually make any lines. All information appreciated.
Platform
I just do not like that platform.  I will never work on it ever again if at all possible.  It is horrible.  Good luck finding an MT that does like it.
Which is better platform????
I have been offered a job with a company that uses EMDAT/Inscribe and also offered a job at DeVenture who uses the SHINE platform?  Are they both terrible, or is one better than the other?  Would like to hear your opinion, please.  Thank you.
Platform
Try looking at the InfraWare ASP. It's very user friendly and easy to market.
platform

I have used Dictaphone when I was working for a smaller company and did like it, but now I am out on my own and have an office that uses Word and a wav pedal and I email the work to them. I like this way too. I have heard that people do like Dictaphone as a platform, but I am unsure of the cost.. I use Express scribe to download the files and my wav pedal. Express scribe is free so I do like that there is no cost to me on that end.
