Odds are good
that you took a lesser pay to do VR, thinking that it was going to save your hands and maybe give them a break, even get away from carpal tunnel. What you have found is a decrease in the paycheck despire the company reassurances that you will soon get up to 300 LPH because that is what your trainer is doing. First, the trainer can pick and choose which dictations will help her get that 300 LPH. Second, she likely has been working for the same company for 14 years and knows all the doctors inside and out. Third, you are not going to be getting the dictators that work well with VR. (I hate to burst that bubble). Fourth, you will find that they are still charging the contract hospital the same amount of money whether you type it or they use VR and you have to re-type it for lesser pay and the same amount of time (or more time) if you had typed it outright.
I suggest going back to transcribing 100%. Even 50% VR with good dictators is going to keep your paycheck down and their profits up.
Generator
I've done it though I'm on dial-up. We got a portable generator from Home Depot, cost about $550 I think, its a pretty high capacity one. We just run it outside and have a high amp extension cord into my office equipment. Will run the computer and air conditioner at the same time no problem. Runs for as long as there is gas in the generator. Pretty noisy though.

so I could work. My battery back up is only good for 30 minutes but I am sure you can buy ones that last longer, of course you will pay more for that. We have fish so when the power goes out we have to fire up the generator so they don't build up bad bacteria in the tank which would kill them. I just ran an extension cord(s) from my computer out to the garage to the generator, simple to do and works great. As for cable, guess it depends if the cable went out too. Our phone usually still works with a power outage, as long as we plug in the phone that does not require electricity, keep one of those handy so we can still get calls or make calls. So I presume cable/satellite works the same way.
P.S. make sure the generator is outside- sm
between the noise, smoke and smell it needs to be outside. I wheel it out to the concrete pad just outside our garage doors. We have a bigger one, $1K (5550 Watt Troy-bilt--has two wheels on one side with a pull bar on the other, makes moving it easy), can run a lot on it, fridge, fish tank, computer all at the same time. Cost goes up with more wattage and bigger gas tank, and ease of operation. Some are push button start, others pull-cord (what we have). Our old one was about $500 or so and I had a heck of a time starting that one and couldn't most of the time. Our new one , one pull usually does the trick. My dad has a whole house generator, very nice, was there when he got his new house, previous owner was disabled and wheelchair bound, has a lot of unusual extras most houses don't have.
Once again, odds are against running into an opportunistic psychopath.

using computer with generator for power outage ??
has anyone used a generator to power their computer during a power outage ? I am assuming the high-speed cable would work during a power outage (our provider had to go check but he seemed to think, yes, it would). I am thinking a small generator for this purpose might be a good idea as I do not think battery backups last very long ? Any ideas on powering a computer for, say, 6 hours ?? Thanks in advance.

For incidentals, impulse buys like clothes, purses, general fun junque, etc. I like street-side vendors, specialty shops, and some of my favorite chain stores like Kohl's (which I can't live without)!

We don't kill anything if its not poisonous, even then I don't (have a lot copperheads around here), though my DH does. My 1 neighbor kills all snakes unfortunately. Snakes are good though, they keep down the rodents. They won't bother you if you don't bother them.

It is not a matter of LETTING yourself get fat. Some people are overweight because of genetics, some because of over eating. You remind me of my ex-husband, who has never been heavy in his life -very narrow minded. Keep that attitude about it and as punishment it will catch up with you. There are far better words to use rather than FAT.

Walmart wanted 20.00 a set for one window and I would have to cut and re-hem them. Hey, I figured if they didn't look right I wouldn't be out anything since I could use them for baths and wouldn't need to return them. Anything to keep out the drafts. I think it looks fine. Of course my son told me I was a redneck cheapskate, so I told him if he didn't like it that he could finance the purchase of "real curtains" himself. He decided they were fine.LOL

I have been excused 4 times in the past year just by writing a letter, have a small MTSO. But last time they said that was the last time I would be excused. so who knows what happens if I get called again. I don't get called for 45 years and then 4 times in one year. Weird. They will let you off, have your service or docs write letters also if you need to.

I'm from PA and I went the day I was supposed to show up for the preliminary questioning. After all questions were answered, the very last one was "If you are selected for jury duty, would this be a hardship on you?" Of course, I answered yes and the reason for it. I was excused.

I was selected for jury duty three times in one year, and chosen for one trial. During the interview process, you are in the room with all the jury selectees and your answers are not private. Everyone hears. It is just a simple pretty much do you agree or disagree type of thing. If I remember right, we filled out questionaires previous to being selected for the possible jurers. That is how they decide who to pick from. but the interview part is not one on one, but with everyone. No biggee...at least I didn't think so. I was chosen for a jury trial and it lasted about a week, but it was not a sensational trial and no sequester was needed, but it did take time away from work and that was costly. What I received for mileage did not begin to cover what I lost for appearing and it took almost a month to get the money. Just my experience. I don't know if every state/county/city is different.
Jury Duty.
Here in Florida, they had the judge, DA and defense attorney with the defendant in the court room along with all the prospective jurors. They explained what the case was about, how long the trial was supposed to last and if anyone would have a hard ship being on the jury for that long. They then asked everyone questions about drinking and driving since it was a DUI case. You had to raise your hand when they asked the group question since it was a yes or no type question. Sometimes they would pick on you to elaborate on what happened in your case. They also asked individual questions and everyone gets to hear your answers. I want to be on a jury but due to my brothers being well known to the DA, judges and police officers because of their troublemaking I never get picked.

Is anyone out there that is heavy truly comfortable with their body? sm
I have had a struggle with weight my entire life. As we speak now I am on Weight Watchers. I don't want to be model thin because I know that is never happening and some people aren't made to be that way. I am tall, an inch from being 6'. Before when I look at pictures I am thinking "Hey, I was not so bad. I DID carry my weight well." But during those times I thought I was horrible. Now, just topped the scale to 300 and I am scared to death! In the past year, since working from home and being depressed, I have put on an easily 50 lbs. I weigh more than I weighed with being 9 months pregnant with my son.
Anyway, I know for my health I need to get my weight down. But the question is - if you are heavy, how do you feel good about yourself and your body, enough to let that stress go so you can focus on other things in life? This consumes my every thought. Sometimes I think I need to see a psychiatrist to get this matter resolved.
I pray daily and ask God to help. I feel if I can learn to have a better self image of myself that I CAN conquer this goal and lose the weight.
Tips please....I don't look at other heavy women as ugly and fat. A lot of people I couldn't imagine being thin, yet they look great! I just wish I could picture myself that way.
BTW - in the almost 6 years my husband and I have been married, he has NEVER seen my naked, even when I wasn't so heavy. It is always "give me the covers, turn out the lights" and never intimate without clothes on. I want real intimacy. I want to feel good about myself. How do I achieve this while in the process of losing weight?

I think CTS in a transcription setting usually has to do with poor posture of the wrists and hands. Bending the wrists is a baaadddd idea. The heavier the chest/belly (believe me, I know, it's why I have a split keyboard, lol) the more difficult to get the hands centered in front of you to type, which usually causes unnatural positioning.
I can understand all of that reasoning.
Average 8-9 on heavy days.
Tuesday is my biggest day and it is a 9 hour day that includes an hour for pick-up and deliveries. But that is with 5 doctors, and two do heavy consults/letters/ops from Monday. I usually get abut 200 to 250 minutes and it takes me about 8 hours to do it. But I do in shifts, 10 to 1, off for an hour for lunch/walk then 2 to 5 and then 7 to 9 or else get up at 5 in the morning to finish and print and delivery at 9. Monday can be the same depending on that they "catch up on over the weekend". But Wed/Thurs is 6 hours and Friday or if I chose to do on Sunday is only 4. Again my accounts have been with me for 5 to 18 years --oops just had one start last November but they are pretty good dictators and I can just move right along. But I do take frequent breaks and am able to work the hours that are the most productive for my body which does include usually early morning hours -- 5 to 8. But that is me and that is the advantage of having my own accounts.
Just finished jury duty....
Ended up getting almost as much reimbursement for jury duty as I would have working, when mileage was figured in. Only had to be there 2 days, so it wasn't a hardship. Met some interesting people and was overall a positive experience. I was VERY reluctant, but was glad I did it.
Jury Duty Mandatory
Here in NYS jury duty is mandatory. You can get out of it once or twice, I believe, but then you have to go, they won't excuse you any more. Hopefully, your State is more lenient.

the first time was a civil case and the second time it was a drug bust case. The first time the potential jurors were just asked generalized questions like "do you know anyone here in the courtroom" or "have you been involved in a similar case before?" The drug bust case they asked more specific questions. Both times they asked the questions where everyone could hear responses. I've been told this is pretty much the normal unless you're being interviewed for a high profile case.
Good luck and remember that in most places only about 10% of the people called for potential jury duty actually ever serve on a jury.

Everybody heard the answers to the questions; what did I do for a living, have I ever been a juror, had I ever been in a car accident, things that might pertain to that certain case. It was a car accident in a parking lot. I actually got chosen for the panel and was fighting staying awake through the whole thing it was soooooo boring. After sitting in that hard chair for nearly 8 hours on the first day, I got up and could hardly walk. I had developed a DVT sitting in that same spot all day and could no longer be a juror (oh darn). Because of this, I cannot be called for jury duty anymore.
I was called to jury duty once, but
I sat there all day long with the judge being one of the attorneys I used to work with/for a few years earlier. I knew I couldn't be picked because of that, but they made me sit there anyway. I did get paid for sitting there all day, so it wasn't that bad. I really wish I could serve. Maybe there'll be a next time.

You can use salt in your carpets. Sprinkle it on heavy
use your broom to work it in and leave overnight and then vacuum like heck the next couple of days. My mom would put her vacuum cleaner bag in the microwave to kill the fleas cause they can get out and changing bags every time gets expensive. The salt dehydrates the fleas. You can bathe dogs in tea tree oil, though I warm you it is a strong smell for days. I read recently you could put a few days on their collar, but again this is very strong and I couldn't tolerate it. I haven't tried it, but boil 2 lemons, let cool, and then refrigerate. Use it as a spray every other day, being careful to keep out of eyes and other sensitive areas.
You should also wash all bedding in hot water if you don't ready and this will kill any fleas in the bedding, but is a good idea to do anyway.
There many options available through your vet if this doesn't work.
Fleas seem to be bad this year. We adopted kittens from the shelter and we've had a difficult time getting rid of them. We are using a pill, plus a topical; both from the vet, and still have them, just a few of them, but enough to drive the animals bonkers.

I am heavy by society's terms. I weigh
about 210 and am 5'6" tall. Every single female in my family tree for generations had the exact same body habitus. We are all German with big bone structures. I cannot lose weight - period. Been there, tried and done that save for gastric surgery. It is genetic in my case. Seriously, it really can be. I am totally comfortable with my body and how I look - I even love clothes, shoes, jewelry, until....I have to go to the doctors for anything - a hang nail, and its because I'm -- OBESE -- you name it, a cough - its because of that. And THAT makes me MAD! My cholesterol is normal, I don't have high BP and am 50. I am what I am what I am, and am happy with it until the med profession makes me feel like pond scum. All my relatives also lived into their 80s and 90s, the old healthy as a horse body types. I am super strong and in shape. I guess you get the picture. I have no arthritis, either, or any of the normal problems of mid life. I also drink milk - I LOVE MILK. I would probably lose 10 pounds max if I eliminated milk, but then I feel sick and run down. Its been a long time until I did get happy and satisfied with my body structure, but I still honestly hate doctors for their bias. And sometimes it is bias.

Again,i've used these programs and checked them and they are virus free. To confirm this, try your best antivirus and scan all files. I use Avira latest virus scan and it detected none. For those of us who can't afford to buy the original stedmans, this is a good alternative. If you have the money, buy the software! If you have them and want to share, share them by all means!

certified mail. Maybe he has a ticket he hasn't paid. Has he had a small claims against anyone - could be payment owed him.

Where I am, using Winscribe, the supervisor on duty routine gives updates (sm)
with who is working on a particular account, how many jobs there are, if any have been kicked back (she/he can tell as they are out of sequence, obviously taken into someones local queue and then returned to the pool. The name of those working at any given time is announced, this lets us know if someone comes on board during unscheduled hours without clocking in.
It is great for me as I follow the rules. We are not to take jobs into the local queue (cherrypicking) and we are not to work outside of scheduled hours unless it is granted and there is ample work for the person coming on board so they do not take away from the regularly scheduled MTs. I love my job!

We had some storms with heavy rain yesterday but did not make a dent
in the dryness. The past few years we have been saturated with it raining constantly. Last year we were 40 some inches over the norm for rain at one point. This year dry as a bone and hot as heck. The little bit you get through the thunderstorms has not made a dent in our need for rain. The river is low.
The weather pattern is so strange.
