Take a chill pill
they are only testing it right now in one city in Texas...
That should give you time to check out their competition :)
Ditto to what the above poster says. See message.
I work on a lap top with DQS; my understanding is that actually DQS takes up little memory, but you do need to have a Windows XP computer. Check with your local MQ tech department for specific computer requirements, but I believe all current lap tops easily fit the bill. I have a Toshiba Satellite that works great, and there are a lot of sales going on now.
My computer has a 14-inch screen, but I still plug it into a 17-inch flat-screen at home, and also use an external keyboard and mouse (I have never been able to type on a lap top keyboard). I sure like being able to throw it into a car and going when I want. :).
I'm so sorry Katrina has caused such problems for you. I hope you get your life back together soon.

You owe them no loyalty, especially if they don't pay squat.
Send them a note thanking them for the wonderful experience but giving your two weeks notice or whatever because you have accepted employment elsewhere.
it's not a *poop squat* -he merely gets into it
He puts his body and soul into his performances and just gets physical.....he is the most personable, really......the most down-to-earth. I like all 3 who are left......but again Elliot's voice, I agree, is not STRONG enough for projection all the time.
Unfortunately, it mostly benefits those who pay us squat. nm
.
I tried ASR and I did not make squat...sm
I quit not long after.
Umm, teachers don't make squat either.
The pay's about the same for a Transcriptionist at the local hospital with bonuses and incentive included as it is for a teacher for the school district. They put in long hours, too. It's not just 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with summers off. They have to grade papers, extracurricular requirements, go to meetings, fill out federal forms, go to training, keep their certification updated, etc.
I make a big deal out of them too and still dont get squat. sm
You'd think just ONCE they'd do something, particualrly aft I try to be so conscientious and considerate, but no................... :(
and this is a time that i NEED support.
Take a pill.
I don't have a problem with someone being Indian, I do have a problem working for a company based out the U.S. Why don't YOU apply for the job if you're so concerned?
LOL - chill out!
Maybe it's time to check with your doctor. You're over-reacting a tad to a posting on an anonymous message board.
Thanks for the entertainment though. I needed a good chuckle today.
:)
CHILL out!!
Geez. I agree that there are a lot of reality shows on TV the last few years which are ridiculously stupid. But, this one is different, in my opinion. These are people (at least the ones who make the finals) who have talent and are just out there doing their thing trying to get a recording contract. It's called......MUSIC!
Chill out, he said he was sorry, NM

There is a pill you can get at the vet for tapeworms
Also Advantage for the fleas, but the Advantage is probably less expensive on E-Bay.
ok. But VR it is not a magic pill
I've been researching the threats to us by VR. I have found that even with Escription, you need the doctor's cooperation. Their claim that the doctor doesn't need to change his dictating habits is not supportable in the real world. Also, is anyone aware that the software company that provides VR is raking 2 or 3 cents a line off the top just for the privilege of you being able to buy their prohibitively expensive software?
Here take a pill, was just posting an fyi
I did nothing to offend you today. It was not for or against the conversation or directed at you (whoever you are).
Wow---chill out everyone! OP said nothing against prayer or
it was allowed in a report.
It's no different than asking if typing someone "makes her money on her back" is appropriate. It's not the subject itself---it's whether or not it should be in a medical document because it's not medical. My answer is yes...if the doc dictates it then you put it in. There have been plenty of things over the years I would've left it, but you just put it in.
There's no reason for these attacks on her though...she didn't say anything was wrong with prayer. She didn't say she didn't tolerate anything Christian.
Everyone is WAY, WAY to defensive on this. She could very well be Christian herself, but you don't know that because she didn't say one way or another and didn't say it was good or bad.
OK.. short and sweet... TAKE A PILL !! nm

Anyone ever get a pill stuck in their throat?
I took an ibuprofen capsule on Wednesday morning (for a sore throat I'd had for a week, rapid strep neg). The first one went down but the other one seemed to stick. It's still there and I just can't get it to go. It's not really down in the throat...it seems to be higher than that. It's making my throat hurt down to the collarbone and up to the ears. I can get it to move around some, but it just won't go down. I don't know whether I should call me regular doctor, go to urgent care, just wait for it to go down or what?
If a pill causes an abrasion while going down, it can fell like it is still there. nm

This doc took a silly pill today!
I am doing a string of ER reports from a doc who must have taken a silly pill! He is drawing out certain words at a slow pace, then speaking as fast as he can, and now he just made the silliest gutteral noise for about 30 seconds OMG! silliness
Chill out ms. ???. If you can't be pleasant do us all a favor
and keep your hands off the keyboard. Why are so you so dang miserable anyway?
Chill. Personal attacks are not necessary. sm
I asked some thoughtful questions and you are questioning my right to be an MT. You don't know me. My work is excellent and I have many years of experience. If you don't want to answer a question, don't get personal. It isn't necessary.
pill cam - a tiny camera is swallowed NM

Chill out, all she is doing is wearing a color she obviously likes -
and black in high school, some pretty wild clothes too. Doesn't sound like she is going goth or anything. Lots of girls wear black, nothing wrong with it. Remember pick your battles and don't blow the little things out of proportion.....as for rebelling I would not consider this anywhere close to rebelling.
Havre, Montana, right now 17 below 0, wind chill is 37 below 0.
Now that is a bit nippy.
Chill in that you're all complaining and whining here, which is getting you NO where fast! Plus i
just soooooo tiresome to hear it 24/7. Again, its been going on forever. Period. And I assume you are referring to MQ, and then go on to imply how the service who treats their MTs right will have the most MTs, or whatever. Well, MQ has about 10K at any given moment! Unethical to route work as you see fit? Never! That's the ropes! Some MTs just take everything soooooo personally. Its not good for their mental health, literally. Hey, I get a run of 10 reports from a great dictator whom I haven't heard in, say, 6 months, I just type them and move on! Perhaps I pause a microsecond to think, Hmmmm...he hasn't been around much, but glad he's here now! To hear these whining complaining MTs, they just sit there and start plotting how this doctor got to their pool, where he's been in the interim, and its ALWAYS Indian MTs as the scapegoat, or the cherry pickers, or the VR got all the "good stuff". They never just accept that its just THE WAY IT IS. The roll of the dice - the MTs on line before them or with them - why does it always have to be something other than just fate? Its so reflective of an unhappy persona, and its so self defeating. Type it and be happy, or get another job!
Very nice around there. Good place to chill, hmm, mentally that
zz
Not legally. In my state they can't give any meds, can hand the pill
bottle to the patient, but can't actually give them meds.
Maybe you are thinking of CRNA?
In all due respect, some of you MTs need to relax and chill on these issues of "cherry pickers
VR or Indian MTs. I have been in this business for over 25 years now, and this is the very nature of this business. Work is always pooled around according to WHO is doing the pooling. If you're an MT who always helps out cheerfully, always willing to give help where needed, sure, you're probably gonna get rewarded by having some sweet dictators routed to your pool. If you're the pooler and your friend is the recipient, you're probably gonna tend to give your friend some cake dictators. If, on the other hand, you're pooling work, and there's a cranky, whining, complaining MT, you're probably gonna just happen to send her some of those wonderful marble-mouthed dictators. There is ALWAYS someone at the start of the process, doling out the work to someone -directing it where THEY want it to go for whatever reason. Same thing in the old days of tapes - tapes were handed out according to whoever was handing them out! Then C-phones, and work would be diverted to your "line", and now the internet. I don't know if you are all new to the field, or just forgetful, but this is the nature of the industry. So many are so paranoid and blaming cherry pickers, Indians, or who knows! Most cherry pickers don't even have to cherry pick. The GOOD work goes to the GOOD workers. Its simple. So, be nice, have a good attitude, and do your job. You're far more likely to get good dictators that way then dreaming up conspiracy theories or looking to blame the invisible cherry pickers. You can look to those over you in authority, and really should perhaps put a little reflection on WHY you are getting the garbage over and over. It sure can't hurt to try to look at it another way, cause its really not all as complex and complicated to figure out as you would like! Look to yourselves before always, always blaming those cherry picking Indian VR MTs! Start tomorrow with a NEW attitude. Or, if its too late at your job, maybe start fresh somewhere else! I doubt it would hurt, and you sure might find yourselves with a new attitude and on the receiving end of some good reports!
Good one. An anonymous poster blows another anonymous poster's head off. Great win for MQ?
I guess that is a small pleasure for those of you who have lowered your expectations for the company you work for.
Bet you're married to a fat bald guy too.
Venting-why do people keep putting nm and THEN writing a message?? nm means no message - sm
Please put sm if you have a message and NM if there is no message other than your subject line. It makes it easier when reading these messages. thanks so much and have a nice day everyone.
small message. nm means no message

hands down by the....
LINE!!
I am currently getting paid per report on one acct and per line on another and hands down...per line always adds up to more money.
From years of experience, there is at least one MT that will tend to skip the longer reports when being paid by the report - if this weren't the case then it might be about the same but just from years of experience it seems there is always one bad apple in the bunch that spoils it for the rest.
When being paid per line, at least when they skip reports they don't want to do - it just means more lines for me and more $$$.
Hands
Does anyone else have problems with puffy, stiff hands during the hot weather. Never bother me in the cold but this heat kills my speed and accuracy. Anybody have any home remedies that helps. I feel like the Pillsbury Dough boy with regards to my fingers and hands. Please don't tell me it is old age setting in.
Thanks.
Hands
I tried Glucosamine with chondtritin and it did not help with any of my aches. But then I was told by a chiropractor to try MSM Glucosamine after I was T-boned and had terrible hip and buttock problems. Tried 2 to 4 did not help much and gave up -- I give up easily. But the past several months tried again at 2 twice a day and after a couple of days it helped not only with my hip but my hands have not ached all summer/fall now. Really helped and I now take only 2 or so and not every day. Vioxx also helped but they took that off the market. But this helps tremendously. But you should check to see if by chance you have Raynaud's or something in your hands or low thyroid. Good luck.
is there something i can use to help my hands....
to be smoother. i have been using baby powder, but have already went through 2 keyboards...is there a transcription something i can buy? also, how about my hands freezing....what can i do about that?
Female..hands down !
I swear, every account I've ever worked had one problem dictator.. always female ! One REFUSED to use macros, even on normals.. and she would always make sure she made every report unique, so that we couldn't sneak away with using a macro for her. Another one spoke a hundred miles a minute. I remember my first day with her. She said something several times in her reports and I went crazy trying to figure it out.... lumbar spine ?? supine ?? Turns out she was saying "skip a line" !!
Obviously not for his face, but maybe his hands?

Hands On Transcription
Does anyone have any info on Hands On Transcription? They say they pay daily. Thanks
not sure what you are looking for exactly but for my aching hands sm
i have a mixture i make. it leaves your hands for soft and smooth and feels great too. take table salt and mix in essential oil. i love to use peppermint as it leaves a "cooling sensation" afterwards. just mix it until the salt is moist, not drowned. rub it is (preferably over the sink as it will make a mess), rub deeply or massage and it feels great. then rinse hands with warm water and it leaves your hands so soft and feeling great as the oil is left on your hands.
hang on with both hands - and don't let go
some swear by, but I think my hands are too big.
Voc. Rehab. let me try one out when they were helping me get my ergonomics together, and I knew right away I could never get used to it. I have rather "fat" fingers, though, and I think that was part of it. If you have longer, thinner fingers, it might be right up your alley.
You can rent one (which can then be applied to the purchase price, I think?) for awhile from this site to try it out, rather than outright buying it.

hands down..hourly
Hands down, if I had to pick one, my best
resource for medical terms is The Surgical Word Book. Boy that book is awesome. For meds, Quick Look Drug Book is The One! Online, the only site I really frequent is Dr. 411. Now, most of my coworkers are going to know who I am, as I am always singing the praises of these!! Oh well. It won't be any surprise to them how miserable I am at work - we all are.
I am MT/ME and ME is easier on the hands...
I love ASR (automated speech recognition) aka editing as it's easier on the hands for some (me!!). It does pay 20% less per line but I'm very fast with editing. I like it a lot but to each his/her own opinion on it.
Good luck!!
Insuring hands??
I apologize if this sounds foolish but has anyone ever heard of a Transcriptionist insuring their hands in case they were in an auto accident, etc?? Is it even possible??
Cold hands
Does anyone else have freezing hands as they type? It's worse of course in the colder weather. Are there any gloves or similar products out there that we can wear while we type? Any ideas are appreciated! I freeze all the time, in warm weather or cold, but my hands are what I need to be warm to keep transcribing. I need a space heater that doesn't cause my electric bill to go sky high, but haven't found one of those either.
My hands are always cold too.
I have seen gloves with the fingertips cut out, but do not know how comfy they would be to type with.
I sit with a heating pad on my back cause I have arthritis in my hip and when my hands get cold I just put them behind my back to warm them up.
There are also those heat packs you can squeeze or rub together to warm up your hands.
You would think after typing and typing our hands would stay warm with all this exercise, but NO.
Keep Warm.
Warm Hands
Or how about a heated wrist pad for in front of your keyboard?
