hysterectomy
I had a hysterectomy when I was 40 and it took a couple of months to get back into the groove. I am on Premarin and swear by it. It is a major operation and you definitely do not need to rush your body's recovery. Everybody is different. Hang in there.
hysterectomy
You just incurred a trauma to your body - surgery and anesthesia. Of course you are tired - and you should be sleeping. That's your body way of helping you heal.

As someone with the experience of 2 major surgeries and 3 minors, I can tell you that it takes 1 week to get the anesthetic effect worn off your body. If they had to take you really deep for awhile, it might take 10 days.

Be patient - you are human, not the Bionic Woman - and kind to yourself. Listen to what your body is telling you.
I had a hysterectomy at 26
I have never once regretted my decision to have my hysterectomy. I recovered fairly quickly, partly because I was 26. I also had a TVH with LSO and then about 5 years later had the RSO. I know that TVH is much easier and quicker to recover from than a TAH. I have to take HRT to control my hot flushes twice a day or they are so out of control I can't stand it. The hot flushes are really my only complaint. I was so miserable before my hysterectomy and can hardly believe how much better I feel now.
Hysterectomy
I have never had a C-section, but had a laparoscopic hysterectomy.  Felt great and could have gone back to work after one week.  That is how great I felt, but I was working for a clinic and had 8 weeks sick time built up and was thinking of leaving (did not want to lose it))and my doctor was gracious enough to give me my 8 weeks off.  I loved it!!  It was July and so basically my whole summer was off.  Cannot beat that!!!
I'm 46, had a hysterectomy 5-1/2 years ago but still
have my ovaries. Don't think I've started through the change yet, but I'm not sure. My boobs stay tender a lot of the time like when I was pregnant. I wonder if that could be a hormonal thing?
Question regarding hysterectomy *sm*

I had a hysterectomy exactly one week ago today.  How long does it take a person to get their energy level back?  All I want to do is sleep.  I cannot figure out if I am really this tired or if I am looking for an excuse to be lazy.  I am not taking any medication right now although my doctor did give me a prescription for Premarin that I have not filled yet.

Further bleeding per Dr. **** will affect a hysterectomy.

I had a hysterectomy last March. It took me about 3 weeks actually to
want to be out of bed or off the couch. Even then I took long breaks and rested. One friend took 12 weeks before she ever went back to work part-time. It's different for each person. Just give yourself time. You need to heal and that means that your body needs to rest.
Radical Hysterectomy for cervical cancer surgery with daVinci Robot - live Webcast. sm

Here is the link - check it out.  Pretty wild doing surgery through robotic arms.  Of  course, UNC Chapel Hill, has this great expensive robotic surgeon!   Would love to do the op reports for these surgeries.
