solution for sticky keyboard

I found the solution for my keyboard keys sticking intermittently; I unplug the keyboard and plug it back in.  Very simple, I could believe that it works, but it does.  Thought I'd pass that along.

Sticky

My local company is the cheapiest that I have found and never once have I had them separate in the laser printer and I have been using this for 15+ years.  I have very little waste as I just do continuous notes on the 8 1/2 sheets and cut apart before I deliver to the offices.  I pay $28.70 for 250 sheets  and that is with 2 slits along the side so it is easy for the girls to file into the charts.  True I go and pick up but it is only 10 miles from me.  I have searched and searched and found no place cheaper.  And like I said it has never peeled apart and I have had Avery, Viking, many nationals that have jammed in my laser printer before and never once have these.  And I like giving locals the business.   As for the perforated ones, it is $33 per 250 but I wasted too much for that and when it comes in a roll and you have to cut apart and it curls, too much work for me.  My 2 cents for the day.

Sticky paper

Like I said below I buy my sticky paper through a place that prints up forms.  You will need to do some calling to see.  It is a little expensive but I provide that in my price.  Just do not buy the boxed stuff from Viking or Office Depot or Office Max as they do not not have the perforations on the sides so that when they peel the note it is smaller than the paper and fits on a piece of paper.   E-mail me if you have any questions.   But if you are in the Seattle area, there are a lot of paper places up there.  If you are doing overflow then the main MT should be able to tell you where to get the paper.  Also they might provide it as some accounts do.  Everyone is different.  But CONGRATS -- the first step is the hardest.  Knew you could do it.  Be sure to ask for lots of examples when you start.  Keep me informed.  Any questions you can e-mail me.   Patti  typing without glasses hope don't have many typos.

You can get Sticky paper
You can get sticky paper from Medical Arts Press, get the quick peel that has perforations on the side so it fits on your regular sized paper. It is expensive though, I used to buy the large box, approx $90.00, so if you can get your client to supply it, that would be great. I always had to supply my own.
Sticky Paper
Does any one have any suggestions on a type of paper that can be printed on and then stuck into a patient's chart?  I would like to find a lable type to fit in a certain space.  Brand names would be helpful.  Thank you in advance
Sticky paper

I use an 8 1/2 x 11 label size paper that has about 1/8" inch that peels back on each side so that it is smaller than the paper you place it on.  The clinics use it to put the chart notes in the charts.  I get it at a form place that makes it.  Avery makes 8 1/2 x 11 labels but you have to cut down the sides before you peel back the sheet to place it on the paper and it doesn't have great peel backs either.  Call local form places and sometimes they will have perforations 1" or so but I don't like that as you waste a lot when you have to begin another chart note and you have to be sure it is below one of the perforations.   Have been using this for 15 years now.  Did go with some national companies but the shipping got to be too much.  Again, call local paper and form places in your area and see if theymake it.  E-mail me wiht specific questions.

Sticky Paper

Hi, I have always used plain computer paper for my reports but have a new doctor who prefers me to use the "sticky" paper.  I was wondering if I should charge for the paper, since it is an added cost, and also if anyone knows where to purchase this paper.  Thanks.

sticky paper
I have a great supplier Forms & Filing Systems 800-472-0171.  Costs about $120 for 1000 sheets.  I pass this cost on to my docs.
sticky paper
I'm not sure about the colors.  But it is laser quality.  It comes in different label sizes.  I use a full sheet lable.
Sticky paper
I get mine from a local form company and it comes with 1/4" inch strips on the sides so that when they peel it off to put into the chart the note is smaller than the paper and fits better.  I pay $28 per 300 sheets.
sticky strips
We went through this at the hospital I worked for a couple of years ago and I can't quite remember why it turned out to be okay to register patients like this, but supposedly it was okay. My doctor's office has you write your name on a sticky strip which they immediately take off so it does not stay on the record there, but they still do call your name, so you can't travel incognito if you wanted to. It does seem like a violation of some sort. My drug store won't even tell my husband my Rx is ready for pick up, even though I've told them it's okay.
sticky strips, RXs

Thanks for reminding me what they're called!   As for the RX thing, my pharmacy is the same way.  You know it's just a huge CYA thing, and creates many inconveniences for "us," but they don't want to fool with a lawsuit.

Anyway, from what I've read here, either some places are okay, and others are in violation.  Fortunately it hasn't affected my life.  It's been interesting to read the different posts, though.

Sticky situation/IRS/IC status
I just had my taxes done (extension) and was told that if the company that I do IC work with dictates my hours that my home office deductions may be disallowed.  This company asks you up front or tells you up front what "shifts" they have available for you and then they expect you to work those hours.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach them about this - I have skirted the issue by working a few hours different every day - but usually staying within a block of time - and they have not said anything to me - but I think that is only a matter of time.  I like my job and the work is great - I just don't want to owe more taxes than necessary because the company is not willing to work with ICs but expect us to work a set schedule.  Hope someone has had this come up and will have some good information or at least tell me how to tactfully address this situation without losing my work.  Of course, i don't guess that any job is worth it if the company is not willing to comply with the IRS rules.
I detest that sticky paper.
IF you want to do it, raise your rate, charge them an extra fee to do so. If you don't, tell her that is not part of the service that you provide.
MPLite and Sticky Notes

Thanks for your question about MPLite's built-in handling of sticky notes.

While in a session, click Tools | With Selected Files, Sticky Notes. A screen will ask you whether you want the program to separate them with Hard Returns, or page breaks. It also asks you to select the files you want to include in the Sticky Notes. The assembled notes will be in the TransMP StickyNotes folder, with a filename comprised of the the client's initials, the date, and the MT initials.

The Sticky Note function does not preserve any header/footers. If you need those included, use the PDF function, which also allows you to password protects the assembled PDF file.

If you have more question about MPLite, pls ask.

Vinyl sticky letters...sm

www.goldviolin.com sells sticky Vinyl letters.  I have bought many, many sets and always keep one on hand.  They are also very large letters, for those of us with failing eyesight.  Lol

I made a sticky post at the top of the forum. I am not going
to get into specific debate over various belief systems and people's rights.  If you haven't read the sticky post, please do so.
STICKY NOTES!!! parameter of my screen is ...sm
covered with them!  Seriously though, someone else here said the same as I do which is "think first letter of each word."  That way, there is no memorizing.  If it's a single word, just use the first few letters of that word.  If I run into duplications, I just add an extra letter at the end.  I have a terrible memory too, but this works for me.
NOTE: Regarding the sticky above about inexpensive banner ads

I thought that some of you who sell art, crafts, or other items like candles, Avon, scrapbooking, etc. might like to jump on this opportunity.  I had thought it would be an affordable opportunity for you to make some extra money with Christmas coming up.  However, so far no one appears to be interested.  Therefore, if I don't have at least 10 people interested by Nov. 20, I will scrap the idea.

Moved from Sticky Post. Christmas IS celebrated on this site

Moved from Sticky post...

Christmas IS celebrated on this website. If you do not celebrate Christmas, that is your prerogative.  However, if posts celebrating Christmas offends you, you might consider another site as we celebrate Christmas on this website and will do so every single year.  As the owner of this website, I am proud to say MERRY CHRISTMAS in celebration of Christ's birth.  I will not fall in line with others who are being politically correct and I do not expect others who celebrate Christmas to be forced to conform either.  Since over 95% of Americans celebrate Christmas, I do not see what the big deal is anyway.  For those who do not celebrate Christmas, I offer respect for whatever you do celebrate though I may not agree with your belief system.  In turn, I also would hope that you would respect what I celebrate.

Merry Christmas,

favorite keyboard over the holidays is called "no keyboard"
nm
If you use a standard keyboard you can buy an old IBM model M keyboard on ebay or clickykeyboards.co

That key printing never wear down because the letters are part of the key itself.  They just don't make them that way anymore because it is too expensive to make.  Some of the mechanical keyboards like Cherry have what they double shot key imprinting and the letters are part of the key itself and don't wear off. That IBM keyboard is very noisy from the type of keyswitch it has so you may not like that.  Logitech and Belkin make some membrane switch keyboards that are supposed to have longer lasting key imprints.  I have a logitech that has the longer lasting key imprints and it is pretty good.  You have to look on the specs to find out if has the longer lasting key printing.

I have experimented so much with keyboards and have done a lot of research.  Way too much info.

I use a laptop with a full-size keyboard (no separate keyboard)
I'm using a lap desk but previously was using a pillow with a book on it under the laptop. No additional keyboard though, I bought one with a full-sized board with regular size keys (an HP) which I LOVE and it took no time at all to get used to it. I also love that when the weather improves, I can take my computer outside and get some fresh air! What a great job... :)
Keyboard and mouse. Is there such a thing as a keyboard that has a mouse on the actual keyboard?

Solution........sm
I live in Florida and have Adelphia cable which is lightening fast, WHEN it's working.  I was losing connection while working at least two or three times a month, which you obviously know, can be a nightmare, especially when it's down for hours at a time.  I have the solution.  I got BellSouth Fast Access DSL as a backup.  It works through my telephone line.  It costs me about $50 a month, but it is soooo worth it.  Now when my cable goes down, I just swith over to DSL and I'm back to work in a snap !
I have the solution..
Lets all move to India and only work for companies THERE that offshore!!!
a solution
There is probably a quicker way, but here is how I do it:
1. Go to google.com, highlight, right click and copy everything in the address bar. Minimize explorer.
2. Right click on desktop and select new > shortcut. A window will open. Paste (control-V)the Google info in the "location of the item" field, click next, name it, click on finish.
3. You will then have a new icon on your desktop which is clickable to google. Drag that icon down onto the toolbar next to the start button.
There is a solution that they don't tell you about. SBC/ATT have
a business plan that is called Complete Business Solution that is unlimited local, local toll and long distance. It is $59.99 in my area for this and they switched my residential line to a business line for $12. This is less than I was paying for my residential line and there is no limit on the unlimited calls, length, etc as long as you are not a telemarketing center. My boss (who has been slammed here too often for me to say her name without causing flames) researched this and let me know because I got the .19 per minute letter from SBC. No problems since and it was over a year ago!
Possible solution?
Okay, ethics is questionable here, but at times you need to fight fire with fire. At one MTSO all of the formats were templated. They charged the client, but didn't pay us. So...Many MTs would delete the template as soon as it popped in and put in a matching one of their own. They got the lines, the client got the template, and no one was ever the wiser (so far).

Would something like that work for you? It might be dodgy, but if they are going to play this game you could conceivably play right back. I know I'm going to get flamed, but MTSOs are looking for every opportunity to take food out of the mouths of our children, and at some point we need to say NO.
Got a solution...Buy a new/used one from me;) s/m
I have a couple of extras I'm getting ready to list on Ebay. Would you like to make me an offer? Just send me an email. Thanks.
Here's one solution

Send all the ESL dictations over there!  It seems really wrong to me that I'm sitting here typing ESL for residents with heavy Indian accents and they're sitting over there typing american doctors, and we're all struggling to understand!  Seems like everyone would be happier if those docs could dictate in their native language, those overseas MTs could type it in that same language, and then they could run it through translation software to come up with a report in English.  I know a lot of american patients don't wamt a doctor treat them that they can barely understand, and I often wonder why so many ESL folks want to practice here, dictate here and have americans type the dictation!  Why don't they sent THAT work oversease, and quit driving the rest of us nuts!

My solution
Recently I changed my working schedule in that I work three-hour stretches. It has definitely made a difference in my productivity, as well as decreasing the total time per day I spend transcribing (I'm an IC).  This works for me, although the downside is that for anyone, three hours without a break is a long time to transcribe.  I would recommend working up to what would be the longest time you could tolerate.
Somewhat of a Solution

Actually, I was able to copy the whole contents of the document and paste it into a new document, and the marks disappeared. Just in case anyone was curious.
Here is a solution.
If you have access to the folder containing those files. Right click on that folder, go to properties ...

and set it Owner can 'read', 'write' and 'execute'. In Unix/FTP terms it's known as chmod 777 permission. Try googling chmod 777.

BTW, which FTP client you are using? CuteFTP? or WS_FTP?. Sometime, you need to set options within the FTP client program as well.

no solution here yet either

I have been at this for over 7 years now and still have not found a solution to this problem.  My situation is not nearly as bad as yours, but I have always said that my husband's mouth was connected to my pedal.  I press play and he starts talking LOL

Me too and solution

I use Escription as well and I think you're referring to something that reads ProcMon or something?  Well I disabled the darn thing and nobody said anything.  Didn't realize it was a monitoring tool but IMO unless you are going to provide me with a computer then you have no business montioring me especially without telling me.

So here are some instructions.  Go to Control Panel.  Click on Administrative Tools.  Click on Services.  Find EditScript Process Monitor (assuming this is what the process is you have that I have).  Double click on it.  Under the General tab there is a drop down menu that says Startup type.  Choose Disabled. Click Apply then OK.

Make sure this is the same exact thing you are seeing.  NEVER change any process that you do not know what it is.  This is something that is best left to someone in the IT field.  It so happens my husband was a Senior Network Engineer (he's since moved on to development) and these instructions come from him.  But be very careful as you could turn off something important!

RIGHT HERE is the solution sm
We could mount a campaign to make outsourcing of medical transcription illegal, or at the very least tax the crap out of it until it is not practical. Write your representatives, write to the political talk shows, write to Oprah, write to news magazine programs, write the New York Post. Get on the phone and talk to people who can make a difference!!!!

The end result? There are NOT enough highly qualified MTs to do the work that needs to be done. So, supply and demand will work FOR us. Benefits and wages will have to go up so that companies can attract the best, most productive MTs and keep them. Gone will be days when we work for such a pittance. We will be in demand.
Well, for both of you I have a solution

that is going to sound reeaally strange.  I got the suggestion from my chiropractor when I complained of sore lower back and sore hiney.  He suggested that I buy one of those large (about 24" round) inflatable pilates exercise balls and sit on that.  He had one in his physical therapy department and I gave it a test sit.  Felt pretty good.

STOP LAUGHING, I KNOW HOW WEIRD THIS IDEA SOUNDS and the visual image is a scream.  Yes, yes, I know.  You think that would be a totally unworkable situation and so did I.  But I was ready to try just about anything and this $20 idea seemed affordable, so I went for it.  The theory is that you learn to hold yourself straight by strengthening your core muscles instead of leaning against a chair back.  And the seat is very yielding under your butt.  I initially had a problem with my ball/chair rolling away every time I stood, but I solved that by getting a giant heavy plastic flower pot saucer to set the ball in.  Voila!  Looked weird, worked well.

Takes some getting used to, but I eventually did.  My back was more tired than ever for about a week, but my bum was in heaven.  Then I got the hang of it and it was great.  I sort of got away from the system when I broke my arm and the cast was throwing my balance way off so that I had trouble with my..uh... mount and dismount.  After tipping over a couple of times, I deflated the ball and stored it, rolled in a regular chair so I could one-handed hunt and peck for e-mails and internet.

Been back transcribing for over a year, but never got back 'on the ball.' Now that I mention it, though, I think I'll reinflate that sucker and try it again.  I SAID QUIT LAUGHING, BOTH OF YOU!

best solution to this
Better Business Bureau, file complaint under misleading advertising. Bring the complaint here and ask everyone who views it to make a complaint to the BBB. It would shut them down. I filed one on Transcription for Dummies website www.transcriptionfor dummies.com!
no solution for me,
other than positioning in the shade, with sun not shining on the screen. Its so nice to be out there working in the fresh air, but much less convenient for me (even with the minimal items packed along, and the various concerns, animals knocking something over, dust, wind, bugs...)
THE PERFECT SOLUTION....sm

I interviewed for a company a while back whose method for discouraging cherry picking was to dock their paycheck by $5.00 for every report they cherry picked !    ha.. love it !!

Same problem - no solution yet
I just have the same problem. I hope i can resolve it soon. I am afraid that some new worm has come, or some security fix from MS has coused it...
