Many employees are paid by the line. In fact, the majority of hospitals in my area pay their employees by the line. Why should an MT have to quit because the MTSO is not upholding their end of the deal? I'm sure you know how much time is invested in starting a new job? I am an IC, and I have no problem committing to work certain days of the week and a certain number of lines, but I do have a problem when the MTSO is calling me at 5:10 p.m. stating, "You are scheduled to be on at 5:00 p.m. Where are you?" If they expect the MTs to commit to an employee-type schedule, then we need benefits, paid time off, the option of overtime, etc.
